We have been staying at Grand Colony for years. The reason we keep returning is the convenience of walking down the beach to the dive shop, having a full size kitchen and individual bedrooms for everyone. There are no amenities to speak of. No restaurant, no bar, no spa, the beach chairs have seen better days but so has the beach. The sea grass is nothing Grand Colony can help but it does make the ocean unswimable. This problem is island wide. Back to Grand Colony. The security is 24/7 and I never felt unsafe. The grounds are pretty, gardeners are doing a great job, everything is very tropical and pretty. The employees are always asking if I’d like cushions or umbrellas for the pool or beach. The housekeepers come everyday to ask if you’d like new bath towels, sheets, soap etc. I’d like to see them mop the floor more often. My feet (and socks) are always filthy, clearly the floors aren’t being cleaned. My family and I will keep returning as the pros outweigh the cons at Grand Colony.

Third stay and we will be back

This is our 3rd stay at Grand Colony. We must like it to keep coming back. We love that the dive shop is just a short walk down the beach. The staff is super friendly. The convenience of having a full kitchen ready to use is fantastic, the maid even comes in the clean up the dishes. As far as the sea grass on the beach yes it is annoying but it’s a problem all over the island. They were out there raking it up and taking more of it away every morning. The water was still beautiful and the hotel had installed a barrier to keep some out. See pictures.

Lovely property. Great guest services. Great restaurant and bar at sister property just up the beach. Villa was lovely. Had everything we need to cook breakfast. Short walk to beach. Dive shop was great. Would have loved a hot tub or heated pool. Biggest negative was the construction next door. Goes on 7 days a week. Did not know this when we booked.

Buongiorno Nel confermare che la struttura era quella descritta peraltro bellissima e che il trattamento da parte del personale del Grand Colony e stato ottimo….volevamo fare osservare che purtroppo tutto il soggiorno non è stato gradevole per via delle alghe che hanno rovinato sia la vista sulla spiaggia di fronte, sia per il cattivo odore che emanavano che ci ha accompagnato per tutto il soggiorno con i disagi che potete immaginare, non si è potuto usufruire neanche un giorno del bellissimo patio che dava sula spiaggia. Per ovviare a questo abbiamo dovuto affittare delle macchine ed ogni giorno affrontare il viaggio per due ore tra andata e ritorno per raggiungere una località dove poter fare un bagno in mare e per stare lontano da odori nauseabondi……. Faremo successivamente una rivalsa per il danno subito. Avevamo cumuli di alghe sulla spiaggia acqua marrone ed un odore sgradevolissimo…. Oltre al danno biologico abbiamo avuto un danno economico derivato dal continuo spostamento in luoghi dove si poteva accedere al mare ovviamente con conseguenti spese inaspettate.

The unit we stayed in was beautiful. It was a completely furnished and elegantly decorated villa. The property itself only had a front desk and pool. The on site restaurant, well equipped workout facility, full time bar and pizza kitchen were all located a short walk down the beach at the sister property.

No hot water in shower or tub. Told front desk, they later say all fixed, but it never was fixed during entire stay. Only amenities onsite are room and pool, so have to walk over to their "sister resort" a couple of resorts away for everything else...not fun. Much better resorts in area. Can not recommend this resort.

Beach was full of seaweed, construction going on next door which made staying at the villa during the day not feasible for the time we were there. So much to do in Belize that we weren’t going to stay during the day anyway. Villa was nice although a bit dated in decor. Staff was really great, helpful and made the stay really nice! Good location close to the downtown and a short golf cart ride. Had an amazing time overall!

Excellent location a little away from downtown. Nice beach, great staff. I did not like the fact that office is located across from road. Would have liked to have a small lobby inside the building. Marriott construction next to the property was a nuisance but I guess it has nothing to do with Grand Colony.

I looked the size of the property’s and the beds were amazing quality. Staff really were responsive if we needed something. The only downside was there is a development underway at the neighbouring building and this would happen during w9 to 5 and basically was a construction site. I didn’t use the pool as it was very hard to ignore the sound or look. The beach was also being extended so it was not in use. We were encouraged to use the sister hotel 1 door down which was a beautiful hotel with exceptional service and staff. Beach, bar and restaurant was top. Thank you for a memorable holiday!

There should be a walk way from Grand Colony to the sister resort. Part of the beach was washed away at the construction site next door. Walking along the street took longer. The staff should have explained the use of Bat Colony Resort as an option for activities.

The service here was impeccable, the property was perfect- it was clean, safe, and we had everything we needed to enjoy our vacation. I would recommend this place to families and friends looking for somewhere quiet to stay, away from the bustle of the main town.

The staff and the pool we liked. We also liked the condo and pool. We didn't like the smell and stuff on the beach and the construction noise. We knew in advance about the seaweed. It does affect your stay. Need to arrange to get out on the water more away from the shore. In hindsight we probably would have used the Banyan Bay property more too. Room was always cleaned very well. Overall we liked it.

Pros: Very clean, spacious, and new. Good location. Friendly, attentive staff. Reasonable price. Cons: Atrocious wireless - really a pain. Poor water pressure. Water heater broken when we arrived, but fixed promptly. No restaurant, but one at sister resort a block away. No shade at pool - umbrellas missing. No beach on which to walk.

The property was beautifully kept and the pool was nice. We were disappointed by the lack of beach area. The pictures are misleading. There is barely any beach at all and what is there is covered with a ton of sea grass which smells like sewage. Many other resorts had a retaining wall that keeps the grass at bay and provides a decent beach. Overall a great place.

Birthday celebration

The villa was perfect for our group of six. The sea weed problem was off putting, but I get that it's a natural phenomenon, that Grand Colony can't control. I like to see them build a sea wall like their sister resort Banyon Bay has, that would improve things alot.
