Nice pool and gym. Decent room.

The pool is big enough for a swim. Can sit along the pool for a drink too. Gym is rather big and adequate too. Room is clean and not that old fashion. Wifi connection is good through out the whole hotel. Staff service is decent too. Seriously no complain for the price.

Fabulous weather, very helpful and attentive staff, very good food and a good selection. Free shuttle bus to and from some local areas including the airport. Would definitely stay again.

Great hotel, highly recommend.

This is a great hotel and very good value for money. The bell service is excellent. The reception staff is friendly and helpful. Housekeeping is excellent. Room is nice and clean and quite spacious, with a great view. Breakfast is nice as is dinner. Lovely big pool and nice poolside restaurant. Live performing at the poolside is excellent and makes for a great atmosphere. Tennis court is nice as is gym. Only down side is no tennis coach available at hotel.

Incredible Hotel

Beautiful hotel... Very friendly and professional staff We arrived without our luggage which the staff helped us track down Also got to the airport to fly out and had left a mobile phone in the room....they delivered it to the airport for us!

Nice hotel, not the best location.

Nice hotel, clean rooms, good service, good facilities (gym and pool) and friendly staff. The only problem is that the hotel is situated a mile or two from the nearest restaurant so you have to walk to get anything to eat and avoid paying the high costs of food in the hotel, which I didn't mind doing but it may not be for everyone.

Grand hotel in an average location

Rooms were larger than expected, very modern and comfortable. We knew the hotel was not near the city centres or tourist locations before selecting to stay there, but didn't truly appreciate the time it would take to get to Georgetown or Gurney Plaza with the diabolical traffic. The hotel had a free shuttle several times per day to all the major spots on the island, but be prepared to spend 2 hours every single day to go out and back. I spent extra on the club upgrade but I failed to see what it actually got me, the club lounge breakfast was inferior to the main buffet and it cost a very substantial amount per day for no real value.

Beautiful hotel

This hotel, although not near a beach nor within easy walking distance of outside restaurants and shops, is within its self an excellent hotel for both business and relaxation. Our stay was short (four nights) however should we return to Penang we will definitely book here again. We have traveled extensively around the world and our opinion is that this is one off the best accommodations we have stayed in for all around service and facilities anywhere. Congratulations to the staff for their helpfulness and also to the owner for having made this hotel what it is today. An exceptional venue with high standards in every detail.

Excellent experience

Really enjoyed our three day stay. Lovely room on 7th floor with amazing view of the Penang Bridges, existing and under construction, and Golf Course. Staff were most attentive. We were particularly lucky to be there during Chinese New Year celebrations and experience the Hotel's "Open House". This included firecrackers, lion and dragon dances and a range of food sampling. We found the Hotel to be a good base for visiting the Penang Bird Park , the Snake Temple, and especially the Kek Lok Si Temple which is amazing. Also enjoyed the wonderful swimming pool with waterfall feature.

Beautiful hotel in a peaceful setting. I frequent Penang once a year and I hope the hotel will give discounts for visitors like my family. Right now the rates are pricey, have to think twice before booking. Internet in the rooms is charged, can only get 15 mins free internet at the business centre. No free wifi as most good hotels would have. But overall the hotel has good restaurants and outstanding night views.

Disappointed with the stay

Overall it was satisfactory. But for a 5 star hotel, they are really below mark. I think the service providers did their best within their means but there could be lack of proper supervision, management and leadership in this hotel. Rooms were clean, bathroom was clean, but the restaurant service was poor and also during breakfast time. Eg the waiter used his hand during toasting the bread. Also I gave the ice pack (used to store some special medicine while travelling) to be kept in the freezer as there was no freezer in the room. The refrigerator was inadequate to keep the ice pack cold. On the 4th day when I got it back, the ice pack had already melted as they did not put it in the freezer. The instruction that I gave to the Duty Manager (Farish) was not complied with. It was quite shocking. I would not recommend this hotel as a 5 star hotel mainly due to poor service and the attitude of the staff at the front desk who did not show the due care when I complained about the ice pack. I got the answer “the management having meeting”. I expected as least someone from the management should quickly come up to hear my complain when it is fresh. Feedback like this was very useful to the hotel but they lost the opportunity.

Definitely the luxury hotel to go to in Penang....for a retreat ! The beautiful Bkt Jambul Golf course is just " next door " and Kampachi at lower ground serves Japanese cuisine choices including the wonderful wagyu beef !
