THE HUNTING LODGE can sleep up to 9 guests is an oasis of tranquility immersed in a paradise of Mediterranean scents and colours. Located between Lucca and Pisa, two cities rich in history and culture, this holiday home is the ideal place to relax and enjoy the wonders that Tuscany has to offer.
As soon as you cross the threshold, you are greeted by a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The interiors of THE HUNTING LODGE are furnished with care and taste, drawing inspiration from local colors and traditions. The walls recall the surrounding nature: outside, centuries-old olive trees, lemons and citrus fruits, colorful flowers that give vitality and joy to the spaces.
The rooms are spacious and bright, each with its own private sink. The furnishings are simple and comfortable, designed to make guests feel at home but away from it. Every detail has been carefully taken care of, to guarantee an unforgettable experience.
Tuscan cuisine is a true culinary treasure. Here, the traditional flavors of local cuisine mix with fresh, quality ingredients, coming directly from local gardens. Many dishes are prepared with love and passion, following recipes handed down for generations. Guests can enjoy specialties in the village such as Tordelli, Torta di Pizzi, Cecina and much more, accompanied by local wines yet to be discovered by the masses such as Lucca's red Montecarlo or Luni's white Vermentino.
Outside THE HUNTING LODGE is surrounded by a lush garden. The olive, citrus, pine and cypress plants typical of the Tuscan landscape create an atmosphere of peace and relaxation. The house is just as in the photos and we loved our stay there. We were 2 families of 4 sharing the house and there was plenty of room. We would definitely recommend it.

The property is in a beautiful setting with wonderful views. However, the accommodation itself is quite basic. There is no air conditioning, and on summer days the bedrooms easily exceeded 30C despite the fans. The house is rustic but dated, with a very basic kitchen.Guests with lower-clearance cars should be aware of the entrance: a raised section at the gate repeatedly scraped the underside of our Tesla Model 3, despite driving under 5 km/h. The final road to the property is also extremely narrow and single-lane.Unfortunately, our experience with the host towards the end of our stay significantly affected our overall impression. Our children climbed over a gate next to the shared pool while playing. This should not have happened; we apologised immediately and ensured it did not happen again. No damage was caused.After this incident, the host accused our family of damaging a pool drain and announced his intention to claim our full security deposit and potentially additional costs. We disputed this. We did not observe our children damaging or touching the drains, and other guests also used the shared pool that day.We found the subsequent communication unnecessarily confrontational rather than focused on establishing what had happened. Given our overall experience, we would not choose to stay here again.

I really didn't want to, but I find myself compelled to respond. A bunch of hooligans. How else to describe Mr. Errol’s group? Reckless diving into the pool—despite the ban—smashing through the protective grate of a bottom drain (they were the only ones in the pool at the time); I didn't even ask for compensation for this, simply because in any case the Italian law requires them to be replaced with anti-vortex grates. Shouting, running, climbing on the gates, no showering before entering the water—they even went into the pool naked without any regard for others present or asking if it was allowed. As if they were entitled to everything just because they had rented a house. Savages. Not the kind of guests we want or usually host. We tried to highlight their behavior in the rating we gave Mr. Errol’s group—just one star (since we had to select something for the review to go through)—within the limited space the site allows for comments. A bunch of hooligans. Savage and ill-mannered. Their stay? A risk to our business. They did everything to invite accidents; under Italian law, the property owner is held primarily liable in such cases—no excuses from the guests would matter—and we could face closure. And all this for renting to people like that for a week? We strongly advise against hosting Mr. Errol and his entourage. Ours is a house that is over 150 years old. It is not advertised as having air conditioning. It is not advertised as a luxury villa, but as a "Hunting Lodge." We fail to understand the logic Mr. Errol uses when renting a house where he chooses to spend a week's holiday. It is a fact that it was hot in August—the hottest August on record. He should go rent houses with air conditioning. As Mr. Errol could easily read—if only he bothered to read things before spouting off random judgments—he is the only one that found the kitchen "basic." Once again, we fail to understand the logic behind Mr. Errol’s choice when renting a house for his week-long holiday. He should be renting houses with chef-grade kitchens. We fail to understand the logic behind Mr. Errol renting of houses where he chooses to spend a week's holiday. Perhaps it is simply so he can badmouth them after he leaves, in a fit of delirium of grandeur? A pathetic man who acts like a big shot. We are more than happy never to see him—or his entourage—again.

Beautiful place with close proximity to many sites

This house was very spacious and clean. We loved eating out on the terrace and enjoying the beautiful view of the mountains. The house stayed cool by using the window shutters and ceiling fan. The kids loved having a pool. The property is beautiful and the extensive guidebook was very helpful. The host was friendly and responsive. This was one of the favorite places that the family stayed at during our 2 week trip in Europe and we hope to return someday.

Charming and relaxing house

We had a great week at the villa Polletta. Would definitely recommend it for families with a car. Beautiful view and sunsets, clean house with everything we needed, nice pool. We visited around by car (40 min. to Pisa & Lucca, 20 min. to the beach, 30 min. to wineries).

Wonderful vacation

This house is perfectly fitted for a nice vacation with family and friends. We had a wonderful stay. Kids enjoyed the pool, parents wine on the terrasse with magnificamt view. We do not have anything to complain about. Thanks very much for this wonderful stay and all the useful information that the landlord provided us beforehand.

We had a great time! Amazing pool. We were a bit concerned about not having any air conditioning, but the house is situated on the mountain slope. This protects the house from a lot of direct sunlight, which keeps it relatively cool.Walked/ran down to the supermarket (Sigma) in the morning to buy fresh bread. Good assortment! Camaiore is a peaceful town with nice restaurants and cafés.I can recommend a visit to the nearby waterfall in Candalla.

La vita è bella in Villa La Polletta!

What a lovely, charming and very well equipped villa to spend our 3 weeks family summerholiday! We have been visiting this region for many years now, but never found a house that has it all. Villa La Poletta does have it all: a magnificent view, a lovely big terrace with a big table, a garden with an orange tree, large and cool bedrooms, a beautiful (shared) pool, a kitchen with everything you need if you really like cooking, a 10-minute walk to Camaiore for an espresso in the morning, a shady spot under the old tree for evening drinks. And last but not least Vittoria to welcome and support you with all you need around the house. Thank you Stefano and Margherita, we will definitely return!

Acient manor with amzing views and wonderful aromas

The best aspect of this property was the terrace with its views of the Tuscan hillsides. We enjoyed all of our home meals there as the weather was perfect and sunny. The pool wasn't expected to be available according to the dates listed but we were pleasantly surprised that it was ready and the weather was willing to allow us to enjoy that amenity. The pool initially needed some cleaning but Vitorria was immediately available and cleaned it promptly for our enjoyment. The kitchen was very small and offered most of what was needed to cook and to store any leftovers. Beautiful wine glasses were available and appreciated. The kitchen could use sharp knives and/or a knife sharpener. The dishwasher was a great help. The washing machine was available but took over two hours to run a load so plan ahead. No available dryer as is typical for Italy but clothes spun almost dry and the terrace offered sun and breeze to dry them by the next day. The aromas of the jasmine in the yard in May was lovely. The drive up the road leading to the property is intimidating the first time as the width of the road allows one vehicle with little to no space on the sides. The bedrooms were spacious and the availability of extra sinks is helpful when hosting a large group. The bedroom cabinets rattled with every footstep which was disturbing. The sheets were uncomfortably rough.

Good evening Lisa, We never stop appreciating and taking guest reviews seriously, and your review has been very helpful especially in regards to knives and sheets. Great idea to make a knife sharpener available. However, we were a bit disconcerted as we had them all sharpened two years ago by spending an impressive € 370.00 for all 6 houses and being houses used yes and no for three months a year we were surprised that they were already no longer sharpened. It is true that they are certainly not haute cuisine knives, but they should have lasted longer anyway. Sheets: We do not use Indian cotton sheets, only pure percale cotton sheets. And those are certainly not rough. So we thought maybe it's the mattress protectors underneath them that make the surface rough. We plan to change them thanks to your observation despite the fact that in 12 years of activity it is the first time we have heard such a thing. But there is always a first time. As far as vibrations are concerned, they are normal in an old house. Of course, for those used to living in a modern house or a house that has been redone from scratch, this may seem disturbing. But that's normal. The washing machine: German (there is also a fast program). And finally to answer your question about why we only gave you four stars out of five: it is only by answering the question about communication (posted to us by VRBO) that we didn't give you five out of five as Victory did not at all appreciate the fact that you were leaving without warning or saying goodbye, leaving the house open. Not even in the hotel you leave without leaving the keys to the concierge and therefore we concluded that there was a lack of communication. By answering the other questions we gave you all of the five stars.

Un séjour inoubliable !La maison est une merveille d'architecture, alliant parfaitement le cachet de l'ancien et le confort. L'extérieur est tout aussi grandiose avec son grand parc clos, ses arbres centenaires et sa belle piscine en contrebas. Un véritable havre de paix que je recommande sans hésiter. Mention spéciale pour la vue époustouflante qui change au fil de la journée. Nous reviendrons avec grand plaisir.

Das Jagdhaus bei Camaiore

Idylisch gelegenes altes Gutshaus mit schöner Terrasse und großem Swimmingpool. Das Haus ist geschmackvoll und gut eingerichtet und sauber. In der Küche ist alles vorhanden was man für die Selbstversorgung benötigt. Wir hatten leider sehr viele Mücken aber daran hat das Haus keine Schuld. Es war ein schöner Urlaub für zwei Familien.

Wunderbarer Urlaub in einer Traumanlage

Für eine 9 köpfige Familie (3 Generationen) war das Raumangebot ideal. Einrichtung und Ausstattung waren sehr gut. Sehr geplegt. Die große Terrasse läd zum Essen in traumhafter Kulisse ein , und der Pool ist ein echtes Highlight. Wir haben uns in diesem echten Italien feeling pudelwohl gefühlt und bestens erholt. Selbst die z.T. herausfordernde Zufahrt haben wir immer schadlos überstanden. 100 % Weiterempfehlung

Tranquillité … avec le réveil enchanteur des oiseaux le matin

Demeure idéalement située, dans les collines toscanes proche de la mer (20 minutes) et des montagnes Apuanes. Accueil très chaleureux et sympathique de Madame Vittoria qui veille sur nous. Tout était parfait pour ce séjour partagé avec mes amis. Je ne peux que recommander cette propriété.

Wunderschöne Aussicht

Das Haus liegt wunderschön über Camaiore, der Ausblick ist einfach fantastisch. Das Haus ist sauber, die Betten sind gut und die Umgebung ist Natur pur. Die Anfahrt ist etwas abenteuerlich, aber man gewöhnt sich daran. Die Haushälterin ist sehr nett und alles lief unkompliziert und ohne Probleme.

Peace and beauty in the Camaiore hills

This lovely home could not be better situated for a northern Tuscan vacation. It is close to Pisa, Lucca, Pietrasanta, the beautiful Ligurian Sea, as well as the Cinque Terre and the jaw dropping marble quarry of Carrara . The town of Camaiore is a bustling surprise, full of terrific restaurants and cute shops. This home is a winner of a vacation spot with the best pool ever, and the location provides a beautiful balance of peace and excitement. Enjoy!!

Idyll mit tollem Blick

Wir haben den Aufenthalt genossen. Wanderungen in die Umgebung, Ausflüge in umliegende Städte. Durch die erhabene Lage gibt’s einen Blick bis ans Meer. Das Haus ist authentisch, hübsch und alt. Abendliche Geräusche (überhaupt nicht störend) kamen von Siebenschläfern.

Charmantes Haus in toller Lage

Wir (zwei Familien mit Kindern zwischen 1 und 10) hatten den Aufenthalt in diesem Haus sehr genossen! Es ist noch schöner als auf den Bildern und die Lage war für uns perfekt. Im Herbst konnten wir auf der Terrasse noch die letzten Sonnenstrahlen geniessen und waren in der Corona-Zeit einerseits abseits des Trubels, andererseits auch schnell am Meer oder in den schönen Städten der Umgebung (Lucca oder Pisa). Das Haus war aussergewöhnlich sauber und wir haben uns von Anfang an sehr wohl gefühlt. Auch die Kommunikation mit den Vermietern verlief immer sehr unkompliziert. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Wunderbares Ferienhaus mit tollem Ausblick

Charmantes Ferienhaus in dem wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt haben. Die große Terrasse mit Blick über Camaiore bis zum Meer ist fantastisch. Die Küche ist sehr gut ausgestattet und Geschirr und Besteck sind reichlich vorhanden. Schöner und relativ großer Pool, den man sich mit den anderen Gästen teilt. Die Vermieter und die Kontaktperson vor Ort sind sehr freundlich und versorgen einen mit vielen Informationen (Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, Restaurants, Ausflugsmöglichkeiten etc.). Camaiore ist zu Fuß in 15 min zu erreichen. Zurück etwas länger, da es teilweise doch recht steil bergauf geht. Insgesamt sehr zu empfehlen!

Prachtig gelegen vakantievilla

Het nauwe, steile slingerpad omhoog doet een groot beroep op de rijvaardigheid en koelbloedigheid van de chauffeur, zeker als je een uit de kluiten gewassen SUV rijdt. Maar eenmaal boven, heten de krekels je welkom met een juichend luid concert. Het okergele huis met groene luiken geflankeerd door een indrukwekkende pijnboom, het terras met het schilderachtige uitzicht op de vallei waarin het plaatsje Camaiore zich uitstrekt, de Apuaanse Alpen die het huis omringen en zich scherp aftekenen tegen de azuurblauwe lucht: het is een feest om hier je vakantie te vieren. Het lager gelegen zwembad deel je met de bezoekers van diverse andere appartementen, gehuisvest in de rode huizen, rechts van het gele herenhuis. De kans is dus groot dat je niet alleen bent, maar je hoeft geen last van elkaar te hebben. Hoe dan ook, wij hebben er een geweldige tijd gehad. Het hoogtepunt werd gevormd door een zelf gegrilde ‘Bistecca alla Fiorentina’ op de eenvoudige en bijna weggeroeste BBQ met een heerlijk glas Brunello di Montalcino. Dolce far niente en verder niets.

Erholsame Örtlichkeit

In Zeiten von Corona und der Ungewissheit, wie die Situation vor Ort, insbesondere an den Stränden, sein würde, suchten wir nach einem Haus mit Pool, welches etwas zurückgezogen aber trotzdem küstennah lag. Das Herrenhaus hat unsere Erwartungen erfüllt. Gerne wären wir länger geblieben.

Stefano and Margherita have been happily married since 1981 and have two now grown up children, Livio who is a journalist working in Modena and Maria Francesca a painting restorer with a workshop in Parma.
Stefano, whose father worked as a manager for Alitalia, has lived in Kenya, South Africa, Egypt, England and for 15 years in Rome. He speaks fluent English and a good French. He has a degree in Industrial design and worked for Macy's buying office in Florence, a major Italian houseware glass factory in Fidenza, and a packaging industry in Parma. He also designed, patented and commercialized a cleaning up manual tool for gardens, communities, or large surfaced shops. He now likes to take photographs. Margherita, who studied literature and philosophy, loves reading. We live in Quattro Castella (a very small town between Parma and Reggio Emilia)
in Emilia Romagna where we rent out another house (VRBO reference number 402746) That is why we are very seldomly in Camaiore during the summer
as we try to rent out as much as possible to cope with the high property and revenue taxes.
Mrs Vittoria the housekeeper will welcome you and show you around the property. She is practically every day on the property although she does not live on it. We are at any time at your complete disposal by telephone or by the Internet.

This property has belonged to Margherita's family since 1947 and she inherited it from her aunt Ludovica in 2000.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

La Polletta was once a farm. Margherita' aunt started the renovation in the 1970's (but keeping it still very rustic) and turned it into a now  group of 6 apartments : the Manor, the Farmhouse, the Olive mill, the barn, the Chestnut storage house (Il Metato) and the steward's apartment.
It is a place where friends and families can meet again and again during the cool spring days or the hot summer holidays, share out-door candle light dinners or an "aperitivo" on the houses terraces, and meet at the 11x7 meter salt-depured swimming pool with a stunning view.
A place where the children can safely play in the surrounding two acre terraced gated and partially fenced garden. Where children can meet again their friends from last year's holiday, and year after year grow up together, feel at home and start an everlasting friendship. It is a place for families that want to share friendship.
A place off the beaten track, encircled by silent nature, even if it is just  a mile away from the town's center (Camaiore has just about 10,000 inhabitants), but nevertheless with many things to do to enrich the holiday experience such as: Trekking in the mountains, swimming in the rivers or in the Mediterrenean (just 6 kilometers away), exploring one of Europes most attractive cave, visiting places of interest nearby such as Pisa, Lucca or Pietrasanta (30 minutes), Florence (1 hour) or have a taste of the very good local cuisine.
A place to rest your mind in, and even if it's not Eden, finally stop the everlasting research for new places and stop feeling an eternal rover going through some good some bad some extremelly bad holiday experiences.
We have met, since 2010 (before we lose count of ), 1325 new friends here at La Polletta who spent a total of 3088 nights and in the meanwhile gained a medium 4,5 star rating for our houses and a badge of premium partner as a tenant.
