Fabulous 2 bedroom apartment, decorated and furnished to a luxurious standard, in the very best Royal Mile location best location. Newly renovated and with views directly onto Royal Mile. Every modern convenience. Designer fabrics, wallpapers, free wifi, internet tv, underfloor heating. Secure entry. Cosy & comfortable. 200 yards from Edinburgh Castle. Please note this apartment has excellent views and is very peaceful at night. This apartment is on the 5th floor and access is by stairs.

This completely renovated apartment can accommodate a maximum of 6 persons. There are two bedrooms; 1 king size double en suite with TV, one twin/double (can be configured either way at guest request), Double sofa bed in livingroom, 2nd bathroom. Bedrooms are peaceful and quiet at night. Open plan kitchen/dining/livingroom with 2 windows looking directly onto Royal Mile/Lawnmarket. Bathrooms have under floor heating. There is gas central heating. The property retains great period features; old stone fireplaces, exposed ancient stone walls; and yet provides all modern conveniences and beautiful decoration.

Wonderful in every way! Once you get your luggage up the stairs, everything is amazing. The views are spectacular, beds are comfy, location is the best. Highly recommend. Would absolutely stay here again.

Fantastic location

This place has character and you can't beat the location. Important to note is that you have to be okay with climbing up 5 flights of steps on a spiral concrete staircase with no railing for most of it

Great Trip in the heart of Old Town

This property was centrally located with steps to castle, Greenmarket, National Historic Museum of Scotland, restaurants and pubs. Could not recommend more. Loved looking out the windows at all the people walking down below. The stairs added a lot of character to the property, but could be difficult to some with mobility issues. Loved this place.

It’s a lovely apartment in the heart of Edinburgh. Nice cozy place in a heritage building. Centrally located in old town with most of the tourist attractions at a walkable distance.

Perfect location for the Royal Mile. Quiet at night. Very comfortable interior. Wonderful stay. Note about the stairs is accurate so wouldn’t recommend for those with mobility issues.

Perfect location and access to Royal Mile

Loved this apt and our stay was absolutely wonderful. Got our steps in each and everyday climbing the circular steps! We’d stay again given the opportunity to return to Edinburgh!

A workout!!

Amazing place but the other reviews weren’t joking about the stairs. It’s a climb but well worth it for the stay!! I will admit we went shopping one day and went back to the pad to put up our buys before going to dinner and I did wait at the bottom

The location was amazing and the apartment was so comfortable and beautifully appointed. The stairs were fine for us but would be a challenge for less active people.

Great location and a great place to stay

Went to Edinburgh for a few days with friends and we loved this place. It was very clean and comfortable, the facilities were good and the price was quite reasonable when considering the location. The only thing to note, as previous reviews have mentioned, is the flights of stairs you'd need to climb to get to the apartment (though this wasn't much of a problem for us). Paul is a great host and kept us updated throughout, making the process as smooth as possible. I can strongly recommend staying here if you're ever visiting Edinburgh

Location superb

Fantastic location. Lovely,cozy apartment with full kitchen. Little bit of milk for tea/coffee left there would have been nice as there isn't really a shop nearby. Beds in bedrooms cozy and warm. Pull out couch bed broken so just double check that that has been fixed before you book if you need it. Property manager very responsive when informed about the broken bed and plans on getting it fixed. Only downside is that there is no shop too near if you just want milk or stuff for breakfast.

Exceptional location

We absolutely loved our stay. It is in an excellent location. I will say the stairs are killer as they are like castle stairs but it was in the description that there was no lift and apartment was on 5th floor. It would be a difficult for anyone with mobility issues.

Perfect Location

This apartment is perfectly located on the Royal Mile just below Edinburgh Castle. It was large enough to comfortably accommodate our family of five adults. Please be aware though, it is 87 steps up a spiral staircase to the front door. If you have bad knees or a weak heart, this place is NOT for you! Otherwise, the owner is great and the apartment is wonderful.

Worth the effort

This property was fantastic, location can't be beat, close to everything you want to do and visit in Edinburgh. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 for accuracy of online listing is you can't overstate the severity of the stairs you have to climb. We are a very fit family and to carry our luggage and golf clubs up the the apartment was no easy feat. The apartment is cozy and comfortable, would definitely consider staying there again.

Couples Trip to Edinburgh

My husband and I just stayed at the Top Royal Mile Apt with my Brother and his wife during our trip to Edinburgh. It was PERFECT for two couples. We loved the apartment and the location was amazing. The spiral stairs to the 5th floor were a little scary but the unit was well worth the climb. Being on the top floor we could open the windows in the front room and listen to the bag pipes and hustle & bustle down below but everything on the royal mile closes down around 6pm so it got nice and quiet at night.

Great spot in Edinburgh!

We really enjoyed our time in Edinburgh. This flat worked well for my family of 6. Despite the older, historical building, the inside of the flat is very modern and updated. It is centrally located near many great attractions and pubs. It is a short walk to the train station. We also walked to Arthur’s Seat and saw a lot of Old Town along the way. There was excellent communication from the host. Other reviews have mentioned the stairs, and they are no joke, but we were able to get our large bags up and down without an issue. The stairs added a lot of character. We would love to come back.

Great if you are fut

This property has an excellent location. Access was straightforward. However, it was impossible to haul suitcases ( 15 - 17 kg each) up 5 flights of a spiral staircase. A handrail exists for a short distance - a safety factor as the staircase is steep. For three 70+ year olds to haul their suitcases up such a distance was impossible. We had to find other accommodation.

Great location — lots of stairs

This place is really nice, it’s got a gorgeous view and is right on the Royal mile. The stairs other people mentioned are no joke. Think 6 stories of spiral cathedral stairs where there’s no handrail part way up. If you have anyone in your party with mobility issues this is not for you. If you plan to spend most of your time out and about anyway and are willing to sweat a bit every time you return for the night, this is a great place.

Great place

We loved our stay here. The unit was recently remodeled, very spacious, and perfect for my family. The kitchen had all new appliances and everything worked great. It took me a minute to realize the washing machine didn’t have a dryer function, but hang drying was no problem—there’s even a rack in the bedroom closet.We were on the top floor, so be ready for a long, winding staircase with your luggage, but it wasn’t an issue for us. One quirky note: from time to time a pigeon would show up in the hallway cupboard. It never caused any trouble, but when I mentioned it, the owner didn’t believe me when I messaged him. The towel warmers and radiators also didn’t always work consistently. They seemed to be on some kind of timer—some nights they came on, other nights they didn’t, even when the settings looked correct. The owner wasn’t able to clarify what was going on. It didn’t bother us during our stay, but if you’re visiting in colder or wetter months it might be worth checking. Maybe the hallway pigeon was messing with the electrical.Overall, a few quirks but zero complaints. This was a wonderful place to stay and we’d happily come back

I know this has been covered before in other reviews but let me emphasize... the stairs are a killer. If you are in your 20's or 30 's go ahead and book it if you are in good health and without any physical disabilities. if you are older than this or carrying large suitcases I would book something else. It was a lovely apartment and very nicely decorated . The location was splendid, we were able to take the tram from the airport and the bus back to the airport at the end of the trip. Most of the tours we took picked us up just a few minutes from our door. It felt very secure, a locked door down stairs and fairly quiet being so far up. It would be nice if the owner left some history of the apartment in their welcome booklet like what year it was built etc... The thoughtful owner supplied laundry detergent and dish soap and dishwasher detergent which was missing at another VRBO I had rented in the past. An oven mitt would be a nice addition. Overall a very nice stay. Handrails for the stairs might help a little , they only go to the first apartment.

Unique stay on the Royal Mile

My family and I enjoyed our stay here in late September 2022 as part of our UK travels. While we don't normally stay in "touristy" areas, the location was perfectly situated to everything we wanted to see and do over the 4 days we were in Edinburgh. The apartment was spacious and clean with comfortable beds. Some kitchen roll or napkins would have been helpful in the kitchen area, as well as being able to control the thermostat ourselves. Some nights were very chilly in the main bedroom! My communication with our host Paul was attentive and quick and the check-in process was a breeze! I'm glad we just had carry-on luggage though. While we have stayed in 4 and 5 floor walk-ups before, it being a narrow spiral staircase hadn't occurred to me when booking (seems obvious now!), and it would have been quite the challenge to lug a full-sized suitcase up the stairs. All in all, we would stay at this location again and recommend it to other travellers looking for a comfortable accommodation with personality in a convenient location.

Great location and very comfortable. Just the stairs!

First, I'll say this was a great property and great location. The managers/owners were very responsive. The only thing I would say is, while the listing mentions stairs and the fifth floor, it doesn't mention the kind of stairs. On our last stay in Edinburgh four years ago we had stairs and were on the third floor and managed fine. We knew there were stairs here and it was on the fifth floor and while we are in our 70's we are still getting around fine. The problem was we didn't realize they were turnpike stairs. On top of that they were stone, not unusual for the age of the building, and there was only a hand rail up to the first floor. If we were just going up and down, it would have been doable, but dragging suitcases up those stairs with no hand rail was not an option. Fortunately, some wonderful young Scotsmen carried our bags up for us, which was great in itself, but they wouldn't even accept beer money. Bottom line, great location, great apartment but not for most older people or the faint of heart because of the type of stairs.

Great location in old town edinburgh

We stayed with our two adult children and though the apartment was not over large, we did well with 4 people. Location is amazing. Paul was a great host and his recommendations for restaurants were perfect. Edinburgh castle is a must see. We would definitley recommend.
