Welcome to the Sunset Cottage overlooking Twin Lakes Beach!



The Space:

This casual beach cottage boasts one of the best locations and views in all of Santa Cruz!   The Sunset Cottage is suitable for one family or two couples traveling together. Relax from the deck and patio area, features stunning views of Twin Lakes Beach and Schwan Lake.  The deck and patio area has recently been upgraded and features seating for 6 and is the perfect spot for dining al fresco and watching the sunset!



Additional Pet fees do apply, per pet. Dogs must not exceed 45lbs and must be more than 1 year old. If you feel your situation regarding your pet warrants reconsideration of these guidelines, please contact the Beachnest office.

Lovely Labor Day at Twin Lakes Beach

The weather was fantastic and we enjoyed lots of great food, family and fun. The accommodations are superb! We will definitely rent again. Thank you so much!

Beautiful views. Close access to the beach.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the sunset cottage. The accommodations were comfortable although a bit outdated. We walked to the beach and out to lunch at the Crow's Nest. Weather was nice, even in February! We will definitely return!

A pleasant Thanksgiving

Came down for Thanksgiving-house is very comfortable for four and has a great ocean view from the deck. Not sure how suitable the house would be for young children but it was fine for four adults.

Great views.

Great views and easy access to beaches but the house needs some TLC. Only four plates in the kitchen, and the shower heads hit you in the middle of your back because they are so low.

Loved the place for a family vacation.

The place is outdated as seen on photos and reviews but I don’t have a complaint with it, except the poor shower drain of the master bedroom. The supplies were enough and we found everything we needed. There’s a stairway to the private beach at the end of 12th. (One street next) which we went down everyday for walks. Loved the fact that there are so many lights and details to feel at home. I would definitely come back and recommend to my friends.

All about the location and deck

House has a wonderful view, deck and great room. The kitchen is big but the tools are old. The whole place could use updating (bathrooms etc) but it was charming in a lived-in beach house sort of way :) The location is fantastic - easy access to the beach - only downside of the deck was significant traffic noise from E Cliff just below you.

I LOVE BEACHNEST ❤️

While fleeing a domestic abuse situation, the staff at Beachnest was so caring and helpful. The property was just what I needed. Spotlessly clean, with PLENTY of Beachnest's signature excellent linens and bedding. This property has a $10 million view, and an amazing deck to enjoy it from. The interior is dated, to be sure, but it is VERY comfortable and "homey". I really enjoy being here. It's also VERY secure, almost fortress like. Close to literally everything you want in Santa Cruz.

Great Location, and it ends there

Location close to beaches, restaurants, and harbor. Fabulous Views. Charming decor features inside. Unfortunately, a long list of maintenance issues for both bathrooms, kitchen, electrical fixtures, and furnishings. Cooking and washing appliances were grungy. Mold is evident inside. Covid protocols outlined in manager's literature were not adhered to. Bath Towels were white, lush, and very clean. Soaps, Shampoos, TP, Paper Towels, et al provided. Small appliances functioned well. Outside had an abundance of dog pooh in the yard; the deck furniture was very dirty; and the deck had lots of cobwebs and dead plants in the boxes. Management company came during our stay and cleaned up the dog pooh.

Comfortable home, great location

We had a great weekend visit with our teens and our dog. We enjoyed walking ... to the beach and to get takeout. The beds were comfortable and we were surprised by the lovely espresso machine in the kitchen. Next time we will bring espresso beans!

Sunset Cottage

Fantastic views. Stunning deck overlooking lagoon and ocean. Master bed is very comfortable. House needs to be total facelift. Kitchen and bathrooms need to be gutted and made new. Ants were a big problem also. If some updates were done we would totally go back for that view.

The cottage was nicely decorated, clean, and it had a beautiful view! It was very close to the beach

My family and I really enjoy our stay in this cottage. The extra precautions that they took with professional laundring the towels, and bedding as well as the deep desinfecting and cleaning, gave us peace of mind during our visit. It was so relaxing and we enjoyed the short walk to the beach as well as sitting on the deck watching the sunrise and sunset, what a beautiful view!

Good location for beaches

We loved the location close to local beaches where we could take our dog. The deck is fabulous and the bedrooms are comfortable. Some of the utensils in the kitchen were a little ancient and more information about local parking would be helpful as the cottage only has two spaces available and local streets are mostly permit only. It's not obvious from the photos but there is a road between the cottage and the lagoon.

Beautiful views, great location

This property had a wonderful deck with a grill and beautiful view. Once block from a great kid and dog friendly beach made it perfect for us! The house had plenty of seating for guests and lots of kitchen accessories for cooking and eating in. Minor suggestions would be to upgrade the pots and pans and the showers as well as add blackout curtains in the bedrooms. Great beach cottage, would love to go back!

Cozy Cottage Feel

This is a very unique property. The views and location are quite nice. The house itself felt like we had stepped back in time to the 1950's or at least what I imagine the 1950's felt like given that it's a bit before my time. It was charming and was perfect for our Christmas holiday. The pots and pans in the kitchen should be updated as well as the linens but overall the charm of the house made up for these shortcomings. The rental agency is very responsive and helpful. They had a nice dried fruit tray waiting for us upon arrival which was a nice touch. We ended up extending our stay by an extra night once we learned it was available and they were very helpful in making this happen. Overall, a very nice stay with the appropriate expectations. I would rent this property again.
