625 sq ft one bedroom vacation rental with top of the line amenities: fully stocked gourmet kitchen, sumptuous bathroom, and cozy and romantic bedroom with new memory foam mattress. Ideally suited for an adult couple traveling alone, or with well-behaved pets. Works equally well for short or longer term visits. Eastlake Victorian carriage house, architecturally stunning. Owner received green design award for historic renovation. This unit exudes the charm of a bygone era, but has all the conveniences of modern living. Balcony overlooks main property, garden, and scenic West Cliff Drive. Peek ocean view from balcony. Private on-site parking and plenty of privacy, yet only minutes away from world-class dinning, a dream-like 10k jog/run/stroll right outside your doorstep, scenic vistas, and many opportunities to recreate and enjoy the great outdoors. Owner provides complimentary coffee, decaf, tea, and beverages for your consumption. Garage space available for storage of larger items, and washer/dryer accessible for longer term guests (located in a shared space). Strictly no smoking, please. Pets are cordially welcome for an additional fee---please notify us in advance if traveling with your animal companion.

Also please note: we are fortunate to have temperate, usually quite pleasant weather in Santa Cruz. Due to the historic nature of the building, we were not permitted to install an A/C unit. Please plan accordingly if booking during hot Summer months.

This is a unique property set back from the road, giving it an isolated feel despite being mere steps away from Westcliff. Cozy, relaxed, charming place. Khristina is great, super communicative and very fast to respond to anything you need. On the shortlist of places to consider when coming to Santa Cruz.

I can’t recommend this location enough! W. Cliff Dr. is steps away with some of the best ocean views in California. The pier and Boardwalk are also very walkable. Nights are surprisingly quiet, and because of its location you are set back from street noise and people traveling to visit the beach. The on-site parking is super convenient and the space provided accommodates a larger size SUV easily. We hope to have the opportunity for a longer stay in the future.

Ideal retreat

I came for a week of solitude and writing. The carriage house was a perfect setting: very comfortable bed, living space, great bathroom and kitchen fully stocked. I loved ending my day sitting on the balcony. The location is ideal if you love to stroll by the ocean and take in the unique scene of Santa Cruz. The pictures are very are accurate, except they don’t show the two comfy reading chairs next to the round dining table. Khristin is such a kind and gracious host! I highly recommend her home!!

A Perfect Stay

We loved our stay. The cottage was literally steps to W. Cliff Drive with its trail along the ocean cliffs on the Westside of Santa Cruz. It was easy to see why the owner had won awards for restoration of the Carriage House. It was both beautiful and so thoughtfully done. Every day we noticed new details that were thematic, considerate or just pretty. Those little "surprises" were themselves a pleasure. Everything from the "horse" theme to the detail of the hardware chosen to the beach glass appearance of the sconces to the fact that every pan or utensil I wanted for the cooking I did I was able to find. It was really perfect.One last thought. The bed was so comfortable. The older I get the more leery I am of sleeping anywhere other than my own bed. I slept VERY well at the cottage. I'm sure the sounds of the ocean enhanced that great mattress.

Best Host Ever!

She was so amazing! We were there for a race of mine and had forgotten some things and she was so quick to offer help. It was so sweet and helped reduce my stress so I could focus on the race. Perfect location and space. So cute and comfy bed, which was much needed! I could go on but I think I’ve made my point. If I come back to do this race again, I will definitely want to stay here.

Magical Stay in Historic Carriage House

My husband & I & our dog, Lottie, just returned from a wonderful four night stay at this wonderful cottage. It is a cozy nest. This was the perfect place for a romantic get-away. Khristina has lovingly converted an old carriage house on her historic property into a guest cottage. I love to cook! The kitchen is fantastic with a gorgeous vintage style gas stove/oven. To fit the style of her cottage, she has an amazing Smeg retro-style refrigerator. There were plenty of cooking supplies/utensils. Khristina is a warm, kind wonderful host! She is so friendly & knows so much about her neighborhood. She even brought us an unexpected bottle of amazing wine. I was an enologist/assistant winemaker before I retired & I know how special this wine was...plus we drank it & it was outstanding. I highly recommend this amazing property. Yay!

Just dreamy

The perfect place to get away from it all. The location on West Cliff Drive is amazing, with all the scenery, wildlife, and people watching you could ever want. But the Carriage House itself feels entirely serene and quiet. On the second floor, you can get a peep of the bay and the wharf, birdwatch, appreciate the tree tops, and just barely hear the sea lions barking. The furnishings are comfortable and beautiful. And the bathroom omg the bathroom. My husband and I are now discussing how we can refurbish our bathroom to be more like this one. We hope to be back soon!

Santa Cruz Getaway

My husband and I stole away an extended weekend to celebrate our Anniversary. This beautiful, relaxing, and stunning carriage house is located north of the boardwalk and south of the surf museum and surfers coves. We spent the entire time walking leisurely along the promenade, loving every moment, preparing food from the sweet open kitchen. The place is so cute with outstanding details that felt so completely home and personal. We cannot wait to return ASAP.

Santa Cruz Gem

My wife and I enjoyed a fantastic four night stay with our little dog as part of our 20 year wedding anniversary. The Carriage House is tastefully decorated, well appointed, cozy and comfortable. A modern vintage look and feel. We appreciated all those touches in such an ideal and convenient location. Great neighborhood, walk to beaches, surfing and wharf views and a short drive to other interests. A keen ear can hear the surf and call of the sealions. Santa Cruz is very dog friendly, he thoroughly enjoyed himself, going everywhere we went. We hope to return to continue our adventures. Thanks for everything. Best, John & Andrea

A Fabulous Hidden Gem!

Khristina's carriage house is a perfect place to stay if you're looking for relaxed quiet elegance in an intimate setting. It's ideal location makes walking to the beach, Boardwalk, downtown Santa Cruz or just strolling along West Cliff Dr perfect any time of year. Khristina is a wonderful host and makes you feel like family the moment you arrive. My wife and I are already planning our next visit... it's just that good!

Very Pleasant Area and Accommodations

The carriage house is in a great location in a nice neighborhood. It's an ideal place for walking to the wharf or along West Cliff Drive. Khristina is very responsive and pleasant. The carriage house is just as it looks in the photos, very comfortable and charming. I had a very nice vacation here.

Delightful

Our stay in the carriage house was all we hoped it would be and more. It was beautifully restored with great attention to detail. The room was open, bright, airy and a delight to be in. It is a 30 second to the ocean. Khristina was welcoming and gave us history on the carriage house that was really interesting. We loved everything about our stay here and look forward to coming back!!

Inviting Respite

This well hidden carriage house was restored beautifully. We so enjoyed our stay! The kitchen was well stocked and functional, but it still had an historic look. For a restoration, the bathroom was exquisite. The bed was super comfortable. We had been in a recent car accident, so this was very important for our old-age aches and pains. We loved our walks with our dog over looking the ocean. We so loved that our elder dog was welcomed. Khristina connected well with us and is an amazing host. We hope to return.

Location, location, location! I never thought I would find myself living in a frilly Victorian, but I have grown to love and appreciate the historic nature of my home and it's architectural style. And the view isn't bad, either. :-) I would say this vacation rental is most ideally suited to guests who are seeking non-standard lodging/accommodation that is superbly situated.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

Landmark property registered on the National directory as 'Epworth-by-the-sea'. The carriage house was actually used to house a buggy and horses during the late 1800's. The bottom floor has been converted into a garage and storage; the top floor is the rental unit. Many of the original design features remain, including rough hewn floors made with redwood harvested from the Santa Cruz mountains more than 100 years ago. We are pet friendly (fees apply---please let us know in advance), and four-legged visitors seems to enjoy the area quite a bit. Off leash dog beach less than half a mile from the property. This property works exceptionally well for longer term guests seeking a home away from home. Guests booking for 30 nights or more are exempt from paying Transient Occupancy Tax (normally 11% of rental cost for stays less than 30 days). We are happy to adjust your rental quote accordingly for longer stays...just ask! Also, we believe in legitimacy, and in providing our guests with peace of mind in knowing that we faithfully observe all rules and taxation principles required in our local Zoning ordinance. Our City of Santa Cruz TOT permit number is 18-0090.
