Stayed here for a couple days recently and it is such a wonderful property and location. Really is wonderful to be able to sit on the terrace and eat breakfast, having such a vast view of the lake.Was very quiet and peaceful and not too far from Como town (11 minute drive). Well looked after and the host was very quick to respond to messages

A beautiful property with a not so kind host. Her check in instructions were terrible. Buzz code she gave us didn’t work, I tried calling her phone but the call wouldn’t go through. Probably a typo with her number as every other message was riddled with typos making it very confusing. Luckily there was a groundskeeper there who eventually very hesitantly let us into the compound. Perhaps this is the “concierge”? I messaged host we had trouble getting in and she ignored. Couldn’t find our apartment as instructions were vague. Another owner in the building helped us figure things out. The host messaged me 6pm on our last night asking if we’d thought of watering the plants, then explained that we need to carefully water them. When I didn’t reply as we were enjoying our vacation she messaged multiple times saying “hello?????? Are you there???” Sounds like she wants a house sitter more than hosting guests who are paying a lot to relax. We asked both people who had to assist us in finding our place and everyone said you need key for the gate. When we left we left the keys inside the locked compound at the guardhouse as we weren’t told anything and needed a key to get out. The host was rude and told me I need to use common sense and not leave keys there and then for the first time sends me a photo of a button she says we can use. Very loud construction noise next door with power saws and workers playing rock music all day. No AC makes sleep rough. Beautiful terrace!!

We are so sorry to hear that ,your review sounds like a reprisal. Isn’t that a consequence for informing you that were found excrements in the wc as the photos sent to you Vrbo chat and because you abandoned home keys that were lost?! A toilette brush is present. Fortunately that happened only twice in 10 years. Finally you abandoned home keys at the gate without informing and they were lost, we have to change the lock now. Check-in and check out instructions are clear and never received a negative review from Customer s. And for the remaining argumentation it sounds like a whim from a child at the nursery that was caught red-handed.

Amazingly beautiful

Just an amazing place to stay in Como within a beautiful park and super good communication with Velda who helped us organise everything. The view is incredible and it is super close to Mandarin Oriental hotel and village.

Amazing villa!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Taverna. It was absolutely beautiful, quiet and the location on the water was ideal. It was better then the photos that we saw when booking. The elegance of the grounds and the villa were truly special. We felt like we were the only ones there! Velda was very kind to us and made sure we were comfortable, etc. We truly had a memorable stay here!

Perfect Lake Como stay

Exactly what I imagined when I thought of staying on Lake Como. Super rare find with a huge beautiful balcony on the water. Literally water front on a beautiful property with gardens. I’ve told my friends about this place so they get to have the real Lake Como experience too.

What an awesome time!! The property was absolutely beautiful. The grounds were very well kept. I was able to swim in Lake Como. The water was cold but it was so hot it turned out to be very refreshing. The hosts were amazing and they always answered the phone and got back to us if we had any questions. The inside was very nice, balcony was beautiful. Crazy views! We will be back maybe when it’s cold this time.

Anniversary get away

The setting is just stunning! We ate breakfast on the deck overlooking the lake and later strolled the beautiful property which butts up to the Mandarin Oriental hotel property. The apartment itself is modern and unadorned and it really is all about the location and the view. The property manager was very attentive and cares very much about the property!

Beautiful Villa Apartment

Lovely spot to stay on Lake Como. Torno turned out to be a little gem with great ferry access, fun cafes and a great restaurant. The apartment has a spectacular balcony and steps down to the lake for a daily swim. Access to the Villa's beautiful grounds felt like you were royalty and easy parking took the stress out of Como's vehicle challenges. The host couldn't have been nicer.

Amazingly beautiful!

I couldn't believe how beautiful the grounds and how much lake access the villa had. I would highly recommend. We felt like we had place to ourselves, as we rarely saw other owners. Only comment on finding gate, is once you see Mandarin gate and check-in roadside, you will be looking for similar gate just up road at end of Mandarin property

Beautiful old estate and park

We took a bus from Nesso to Torno and had difficulty finding the property. Then, because we were late for check-in, we had to wait another several hours, which was very bothersome . But once we got to the beautiful property, everything was great, especially the nice balcony with views of the lake and mountains. Especially pleasurable were the park-like setting and walks including a relatively short walk into the charming little town of Torno and its market, bars and restaurants.

Lake Como lakeside

I was looking to rent a place on the lake and Villa Taverna was perfect. It was very enjoyable to listen to the lapping of the waves and watch the boats go by. The apartment was stocked well for our needs. Communication with the landlord was prompt and helpful. Our taxi driver refused to drop us off at the bottom so that was a bit of a schlep with luggage- next time I will insist. I would definitely return.

Perfect getaway on the lake

We had an amazing stay at Marcella’s beautiful apartment. The place was extremely clean and comfortable, and Marcella was a wonderful, communicative host. She came and visited us the morning after we checked in just to make sure we were ok and had everything we needed. The best part about this apartment is the beautiful terrace - we sat out there day and night and enjoyed the view. Torno is a very short walk away, mostly through the property grounds. The town of Blevio is also just a short walk away (we got some delicious food from the local alimentari ‘la dispensa’). I would highly recommend this apartment for anyone looking for a quiet getaway on the lake. We visited in November so things were quiet and calm but this added to the beauty of the place. Beautiful Balcony

We loved staying at Velda's place. The location is beautiful, right on the water. She was an excellent host, left us a bottle of wine, and gave us a tour of the property and suggestions on how to get into Torno etc. You can actually swim in the lake from her place as well. The apartment had everything we needed but the balcony was stunning. My only complaint was that the check in process was not communicated very clearly. We didn't realize that it was a gated drive and Velda must be there to open the gate. We circled around the area several times trying to find the place. It was very complicated for first timers to the lake. We also didn't know checkin was from 2-4pm ONLY. Velda had said check in was at 2, so I assumed it was any time after 2. After digging around and finding my confirmation email, I saw the fine print stating 2-4pm. I think it was just a language barrier that created most of the confusion. Aside from checking in, everything was fantastic. Velda was so sweet, and I would highly recommend staying here!

I am sorry you haven’t felt at your ease with the check in procedure, which is sent by VRBO prior to your arrival with needed instructions and pics, it’s clearly stated that it is immediately after the Mandarin Oriental and there are pics of the concierge house and entrance gate- if you read the instructions you cannot miss it! And for check in time, you asked to arrive at 5:30 , and it was fine even though my check in window is from 2 to 4, but then you changed your plans and that same day you wrote you arrived earlier and I accepted! I am not an hotel and check in time agreed should be respected as I am not in the Villa all day, I have other commitments too! Thank you

Terrazzo Torno is a remarkable and secluded getaway off the beaten path in Lake Como. Arriving at the Villa is a grand and private experience. It took some communication to get the taxi driver to the final location. He stopped at the Mandarin Oriental gate though I had told him we were not going there. When we got to the right spot, he was hesitant to drive down the steep switchbacks to reach the villa but I had read another review that said you must insist! He still didn’t take us quite all the way there, but close enough. Built by a Count in the 18th century and lived in by a head of state under Napoleon, this Villa is rich in history. Though I had some anxiety about arriving at the specific check-in times leading up to it, the host Velda ended up being flexible and extremely responsive in communication! The home feels authentically Italian—bath-focused, simple bedding. Minimalist. Artistic. And a little funky. But the waves of lake Como are RIGHT there. The kitchen has the essentials for breakfasts and small meals. One quirk is also its strength: privacy and seclusion! To leave the property and get to the town of Torno is a minimum 20 minute hike through a beautiful (but steep and a little spooky at night) forest path. Or you can go up the switchbacks and walk on the narrow roads. This place is best with a rental car! Especially if you want to stay out for dinners. Torno is a small town with few frills and ferries! Overall, we loved it and it was great for our needs.

Is this a 3,4,5 star place?

We fell in love with the view from the porch, and envisioned having our morning coffee sitting there watching the boats go by. Unfortunately, there was no coffee maker of any sort. Due to a knee injury, my husband needs to sleep with a pillow under his knee, but there were no spare pillows( just one allowed per person - we were told that that was the Italian way). In lieu of a pillow we rolled up the bath towels- but had only been given 2 and they were damp each night. We had been touring for 11 days and were very excited to see the washing machine …. However, it is only available for stays over a week. The checkin process is nerve racking - you have to pick an exact time to checkin. Our train was late, and there was an extra long line at the car rental place — and even with these delays we thought we were going to make it! But then a tree fell on the road in Como and we were stuck watching the fire department clear the road. Because the hostess works, there is no way to check in other than at your appointed time. We were able to make it there and she gave us a self checkin, but the lack of flexibility is tough when you are traveling. Unfortunately, the internet was not working, and my husband works while traveling. I repeatedly tried to get some help from the hostess, but it was never fixed. The apartment is in a beautiful place and was very clean,- but very “bare bones”. There was no welcoming note, just a notice of about 20 things we should not do while there.

Gentile Ospite, le vostre opinioni sono sempre importanti per noi. Tuttavia siamo un po’ confusi, in quanto il caffè era presente, come anche i due cuscini supplementari ed un intero set di asciugamani a testa. La finestra di check-in è ampia e in linea con le altre strutture. È inoltre chiaramente scritto nell’annuncio che la lavatrice è solo per un uso interno o per soggiorni di una settimana, ci sono comunque lavanderie in zona. L arredamento è di design e minimalista abbiamo scelto di dare preferenza alla qualità anziché alla quantità e poca oggettistica e comforts ci permettono di mantenere igiene e pulizia costanti. E per concludere, il messaggio di benvenuto le è stato inviato tramite la piattaforma VRBO, assieme ad una richiesta di informazioni alle quali lei non ha mai dato un riscontro.

Gorgeous Location, Rude Host

The location is gorgeous. The host is rude. I booked this location last minute, for two nights. I was looking for some quiet time. In my first communication with the host I informed her of the number of people in my party. She then proceeds to message me 5 different times with exclamation marks and capital letters asking the same question that I had already answered twice. As I was arriving to the property I messaged the host to say that I would be arriving shortly before 4pm as 4pm was the agreed upon time. She sends me a message with an exclamation mark stating the property will not be available until 4pm. Then she sends me a message at 3:45pm saying where are you the property is ready. The taxi driver dropped me off at the top of the hill so I had to walk to the property. Which really wasn't an issue but it took 5 or 10 minutes. She messages me with an exclamation mark I told you to tell the driver to take you all the way down. (So rude) . The key pad to the gate is not on the gate but on the building to the left of the gate so it made things a little confusing and hard to find if it is your first time. When I got to the property at 4:01pm she shows me around. Then shows me this list of things that you cannot do which are not listed on Vrbo. As we were talking she insults the "taxi driver" who is actually a friend of mine who gave me a ride as a favor and not an actual taxi driver. Our in person interaction was only 20 minutes but I couldn't wait for it to be over.

We had a wonderful stay at Terrazza Torno. The view over Lake Como from the private terrace is truly breathtaking and easily one of the highlights of the property. The apartment is part of an impressive, spacious historic estate with beautiful grounds and a very special atmosphere. The interiors are stylish and thoughtfully furnished, combining the character of the historic villa with a comfortable and elegant feel.Marcella was a wonderful host. Communication was always quick, easy and uncomplicated, both before and during our stay. We also really appreciated her excellent local tips and recommendations, which helped us discover some lovely places around Torno and Lake Como.A truly special place with lots of character, an unforgettable view and a fantastic host. We would happily return and can highly recommend Terrazza Torno.

Grazie per la sua recensione, mi spiace che non abbia trovato l’arredamento di suo gradimento. I pezzi di arredamento sono Classici di Design che non passano mai di moda- certamente per buoni intenditori.
