Your perfect Get-Away with lovely mountain views! "5 Star" Property!

It's always a great time to be in the mountains! Our mountain home has the views, the comfort and great access to local attractions. Many hikes and waterfalls nearby. King bedroom, queen bedroom, bunk room with two sets of bunkbeds, den with trundle. Basement has a "Harry Potter bed under the stairs" a favorite for kids.

Round Mountain Lodge, a charming mountain home perched above Lake Jocassee on the edge of Gorges State Park, provides an amazing retreat from life's hectic pace. It is only 2 miles from 'The Wilds Camp and Conference Center' and Georges State Park, Frozen Creek access. A variety of waterfalls, restaurants, and local attractions are within easy driving distance.

Set on the south side of Round Mountain between the quaint mountain towns of Brevard and Lake Toxaway, Round Mountain Lodge is not simply a house in the mountains, but a 'mountain home.' Transylvania County, where our home is located, is known for its waterfalls, hiking and state and national parks.

The main living area has a cathedral ceiling and mountain views from a bank of south-facing windows. The beautiful fireplace dominates the living area. Warm wood graces interior walls as do some amazing quilts by a local artist. The first floor bedroom holds a king sized bed; another large upstairs room boasts a comfy queen. All bedrooms have down comforters. The Bunk Room holds two sets of bunk beds, making Round Mountain Lodge the ideal lodging choice for two families who wish to vacation together. The den houses a trundle bed with two twins. Please note, however, our guest limit is 8.

The house is furnished for fun and comfort. The new family room on the lower level has a 58" TV with Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu+ Live TV and the "Harry Potter" bed under the stairs. If you want to sit back and enjoy a good read, we have books in the 'Loft Library", You can also venture onto the rock outcroppings below the porch to enjoy the scenery and sounds of nature. A game room in the basement has a new foosball table and more than 60 puzzles and games for kids of all ages.

Watch the fog roll up the mountains from the porch swing. Discover one of several waterfalls, hiking trails and parks a short drive from the Lodge. The "main road" and others on Round Mountain are lovely walks as well. Asheville is a short drive too. All ingredients for the perfect mountain retreat are found amidst the tranquility and mountain splendor of the Blue Ridge Escarpment.

Brevard is a fabulous mountain town with craft breweries, two wonderful bakeries, ample great restaurants, art galleries, and the world's best toy store (in our humble opinion; OP Taylor's can't be beat for toy enthusiasts!)

One of only 40 homes on the 1200 acres on Round Mountain, the Lodge boasts spacious rooms, comfortable and ample furnishings, and amenities that define it as a home rather than a 'rental unit'. This beautifully decorated home is amply supplied with accoutrements for the perfect mountain get-away. In any season, Round Mountain Lodge will call you back again and again.

Wonderful!

Round Mountain Lodge was perfect for our family Thanksgiving! A beautiful spacious cabin in a gorgeous location, and a VERY well stocked kitchen. We couldn't have asked for more. We particularly liked the outdoor fireplace, perfect for s'mores in the evening :).

Waterfall hike in the neighborhood!

New Year’s Trip-2022-23

The cabin was exactly what we needed for an after-the-holiday family vacation. It was well-stocked and supplied with everything we needed. It was clean and cozy, with lots of space for our family. The location was perfect. The Christmas decorations and lights added a festive touch. The owners answered our questions promptly and were always available. We would definitely stay there again!

Great fall weekend

Great house in a secluded mountain location outside Brevard. The house was very well stocked and as advertised on VRBO. We enjoyed a great hike to Rainbow falls nearby in Gorges State Park and beautiful sunsets and sunrises from the screened-in porch. The owners had very detail instructions for everything, making it easy to settle in and enjoy our stay. Plenty of room for two couples.

A slice of heaven!!

Sometimes you come across a slice of heaven.. This mountain house is it! Its really a "home"- everything you could ever need is here! Beds were made w fantastic linens- towels were plush- kitchen fully stocked- Water pressure amazing! - and views to die for! I dont want to leave! You can tell there is a lot of love in this home! I am blessed to have found this "home" in the mountains and pray i can return to enjoy it again!

This is a beautiful property in the mountains. It was large enough and well stocked with kitchen pans and dishes and cookware. for our family. The beds were comfortable. There was plenty to do and our sightseeing trips were great. I would really like to visit again someday Even on the one day that rained continually we spent doing arts and crafts on the decks. We painted mountain scenes on pieces of wood we had brought up. We will be able to hang them on our patios as a memento of our trip. I

Beautiful retreat with all the comforts of home

I can't say enough nice things about this property. Everything was perfect. We had 4 adults and 3 children (ages 7, 5) at the house. The house was very child-friendly. The view from the living area/upstairs porch was fabulous. The furniture was clean and comfortable. The yard (with tire swing) was a big hit with our kids. We took a hike to Rainbow Falls, which was appropriate for our kids, with a little help (though it wouldn't be good for younger ones) and definitely worth the effort! Directions to the property and check in/check out instructions were very clear. You can not go wrong by choosing this property.

Fantastic Getaway

My wife, two daughters, boyfriend, and dog stayed at this wonderful getaway for 4 nights. The home is on a secluded lot on Round Mountain about 25 minutes south of Brevard. The views south from a large screened in porch are incredible. It is incredibly quiet. It was everything we could have wished for. It is obvious the owners have put a lot of thought into providing everything one could need for guests - there are puzzles, board games, books, a well stocked kitchen with spices and utensils. The Wi-Fi is great. We couldn't have asked for anything more. There are plenty of outdoor activities nearby. We enjoyed hiking to some of the waterfalls in the area. Highly recommended for anyone seeking peace and quiet in a beautiful setting. We hope to return some day.

Beautiful mountain cabin with a gorgeous view and good proximity to downtown Brevard and hiking

We enjoyed our weekend up at this cabin on the mountain. My husband and I were looking for a place to stay where we can enjoy nature, but still be close enough to enjoy what downtown Brevard had to offer. This place was perfect. The cabin was very comfortable, with an absolutely amazing view! We enjoyed breakfast and coffee on the porch in the morning, and grilled out on the lower porch in the evening. The kitchen had everything we needed, including a waffle maker! The owners are very organized and very responsive to any questions. We brought our dog who enjoyed the property as well. We took a day trip over to Gorges state park to do some hiking, which was great and only a 20 or 30 minute drive. Downtown Brevard is also a 20 or 30 minute drive. We are usually big Asheville travelers, but Brevard is our new favorite place! Not nearly as crowded and with just as much character. We would definitely stay in this cabin again!

Great cabin, great friends, great time!

When we go to the mountains we really like it to be secluded and this cabin was just the ticket. After all, isn't that why you go to the mountains? You see nothing but trees and mountain ridges in every direction from the rear porches. This cabin has everything that you will need, and often times, two of them! There was nothing that we wished it would have had. Our party was only four adults and some canine companionship so we spent a lot of time just on the screened porch enjoying the incredible views on the rockers and porch swing. This was a perfect setting for both your morning coffee and your evening cocktail. We only used two of the bedrooms and both were very comfortable. The photos represent the cabin very well and hosts D & J were extremely friendly and accommodating. It's a great location for nearby hiking as we hiked to waterfalls within Round Mountain and also went to Gorges State Park for more waterfall hiking and wrapped up the Holiday weekend with a mountain bike ride at DuPont State Park. We would definitely recommend this cabin if you enjoy solitude and outdoor activities. Brevard is a nice little town not too far away if you need some civilization, but we didn't spend any time there this trip.

Wonderful place to stay!

We had a wonderful time! The drive in was amazing. All of the creeks and little waterfalls along the way up the mountain were beautiful. The house was absolutely beautiful as well! It is really a 4 bedroom (in my opinion anyway) as the "family room" is like a bedroom. The basement is almost like it's own little apartment which was very nice and where the kids spent most of their time while there. The decks are amazing as well. The upper deck and lower deck have different "energies". The upper deck has a tranquil, grab a cup of coffee and a book to relax feel to it. The lower deck is perfect for grilling out and "chilling" with some adult beverages, and the "redneck chandelier' is amazing (a tree wrapped in Christmas lights with glass bobbles hanging from it) !!!. The welcome book is often overlooked at rental homes but you should read this one. I enjoyed the story of what the name was going to be, before that name was overridden via family vote. I was also tickled to see that the owners have a good sense of humor and welcomed the guests to "forget some beer" in the mini fridge when we leave (which we actually did). lol. One thing that is notable for families would be the fire pit. If you have young children and intend on enjoying a camp fire, hanging around the firepit could be a bit scary as it is on a very rocky area that have quite a drop off the end of it and it was slick due to the rain and fog. Maybe a flatter spot with some chairs would be something for the owners to consider? One other suggestion would be to maybe add another bathroom. Even a half bath on the lower level would have made it easier for morning and evening bathroom rituals considering the number of people that the house holds. There is only one issue that we had/have.....and it is that the fireplace wasn't working. One of the things that set this property apart from the others was the gorgeous floor to ceiling fireplace. We we looking forward to sitting around a crackling fireplace as a family :-(. The owners did let us know about a week prior to our stay, so we were aware of this; but that was disappointing considering we paid for it with that being an advertised feature and were not offered any type of discount for it not being operational. Note- I did not ask for a discount, I just anticipated it to be offered considering. All-in-all, we absolutely plan on staying here again. Our family had a great time and the house was amazing!!!

This property was perfect for our retired librarians getaway, but it has so much to offer for extended families as well. There were rooms for adults and an entire basement for TV and kids and games. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the pantry was well stocked and open for guests. The back screened porch was our happy place every afternoon. The multiple outside gathering spaces are fabulous! Could not be better!

Beautiful home, comfortable for the whole family!

We enjoyed our stay at Round Mountain Lodge. The home is supplied with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. Plenty of kitchen supplies, lots of extra linens, and games, toys and books for the whole family. It was so nice to relax on the porch with our coffee and just enjoy the view. The location is a little "out of the way", but not inconvenient.

We purchased this house because we wanted to give our two children, ages 6 and 9 at the time of purchase, a 'mountain experience' and the opportunities to hike, enjoy nature, and explore all that the woods and the mountains have to offer. When we first looked at this home, we knew it had all the charm, comfort and access to the wonders of the mountains that we were looking for. Although we're less than a half hour to Brevard, we feel like we are truly far away from the demands and pressures of life.
Round Mountain is a remote mountain community with gravel roads perfect for hiking and exploring, a pond near the mailbox / entrance, and access to plenty of open space and unfiltered nature . When we don't have guests, we enjoy our mountain home; it doesn't feel like a "rental", but rather like our beloved nature retreat.

It's readily apparent that we love and cherish our mountain home. Personal touches abound. Adults appreciate the comfort and amenities; children love our tire swing, the cave in the back yard, and the ample toys and games we have available for rainy afternoons. We also have a large library at the cabin, including guidebooks, novels, and children's books.

Our outside spaces are as wonderful as the inside. We have a screened porch off of the kitchen / main floor with porch swing and other ample seating, and a downstairs dining deck boasting a table that seats 8, a bar for four, and our gas grill and mini-frig. Adjacent to the downstairs deck is our new stone patio with chiminea and four Adirondack chairs. This space faces south; it's lovely for stargazing.

Before entering the house, you're welcomed by a lovely summertime rock garden and a southern view of the Blue Ridge..

The house is large enough to accommodate two families (or one large one). We limit rental parties to no more than eight guests. Since there is flexibility with beds and bedrooms, it's easy to accommodate individual needs and preferences. For example, adventurous "tweens" may want to sleep in the "Harry Potter bed under the stairs" in the basement; the Bunk Room holds 4; and the den, two in the trundle beds. The master has a king bed; the upstairs bedroom, a queen. So make yourselves at home and spread out!

Our interior spaces are large and numerous. In the basement, you'll find a game room with foosball table, plenty of games and toys in the closet, and an assortment of Julie's homemade quilts, many with a bear motif, that adorn the walls. Our large t.v. is also on the lower level, allowing some guests to enjoy Netflix, Apple TV, or Hulu while others converse in the upstairs living room.

Guests often compliment us on the bounty of kitchen utensils, cookware, and every tool you will need to prepare a meal. We also leave basic ingredients in the pantry for your use (flour, spices, oils, other basics). We think it's silly that so many rental properties skimp on such essentials. The kitchen also has a Keurig coffee maker as well as a regular coffee maker.

A large brick fireplace dominates the main living area, serving as a visual divider between the living room / dining room and the kitchen. The main floor also hosts the king bedroom, the den with trundle beds, a full bath with tub, and the screened porch. The upstairs holds the queen bedroom, bunk room (with two sets of bunk beds) and a bathroom with shower. The lower level has a laundry room, large tv room with two couches, recliner, and the "Harry Potter bed under the Stairs." This floor also has our game room with foosball table. Access to the dining deck is also on this floor.
