The area has a rich industrial heritage -- iron ore was mined here from the 1850s to the 1880s, and the remains of the West Somerset Mineral Railway can still be traced across the hillside. Today, the Brendon Hills are a haven for walkers, cyclists, and anyone seeking genuine peace and seclusion in the heart of the West Somerset countryside.
