Dating from the 1950s, I have tried to keep the character of the house intact, while adding some fresh decorating touches. Located in the popular and pretty district of Santiago with its market nearby, the house is only 7 minutes walk from the Main Square and Cathedral. The upper terrace area is a great place to entertain and relax, with its al fresco bar and breezes. Welcome to the most safe city in Mexico! MĆ©rida, Cultural Capital of America 2017! I look forward to seeing you very soon!

Santiago is an ancient district of the city and extremely popular with locals and foreigners alike. It is a lively area of bars and restaurants and of course the Market with its fresh produce. It is one of the most favourite areas for "expats" to buy a property and so this house is in a very sought after area of the city. Crime is very rare here. You can walk the city safely at night, of course adopting the usual sensible precautions. The church is pretty and on Tuesday nights you will see people of all ages dancing in the little square in front.

From the moment you arrive in the lively barrio of Santiago you will feel part of a wonderful and interesting neigbourhood. You have your own private clean space with authentic Mexican antique furnishings. The house is perfect for budget conscious travellers. It represents great value and enables you to get the most out of your trip! There is a supermarket very nearby and you must try the Panuchos Yucatecos in the local market just 2 minutes walk away! Fresh flowers and fruit are in abundance. The location is so Central yet after an exhilarating days sightseeing you can relax with a cold beer on the nice breezy roof terrace!

The whole house is yours with the exception of a small storage area where I keep my personal belongings.
I will give you a nice check in and some recommendations of things to do and restaurants to visit. I am nearby if needed.
Small pets are allowed - please ask. Smoking in OUTSIDE areas only please. Thank You!
No car is necessary. Uber taxis are in town and are cheap and wonderful!

CHECK IN: The house is available for check in after 3pm. Check out is 11am. Depending on the availability of the home, I am happy to accommodate an early check-in.

OCCUPANCY: The house is rented on the basis of the people listed on the agreement up to a maximum of 4. No extra overnight guests are allowed without the permission of the owner. The house is not designed to accomodate more than 4.

SMOKING AND PETS: Smoking is permitted but not inside the bedrooms please and small pets will be considered, please ask.

PARTIES: Absolutely no parties are permitted in the house.

NO BUSINESS TO BE CONDUCTED IN THE HOUSE.

Daniel was an excellent host. He was very friendly and helpful and quick to respond. The house was adequately supplied with everything we needed for our stay. The location was perfect with walking distance to the parks, Paseo Montejo and many restaurants. The plunge pool was great. The washer and dryer was also nice to have. The house needs improvements. Paint is peeling off the walls, many tiles need replacing and it needs a good scrubbing. The upstairs bathroom needs a proper vanity and new tiles. There are layers of dirt on all of the doors and windows. The photos are nicer than what the house is actually like.

Wonderful getaway

Loved the location and Daniel was a great host. Caution: there are 17 narrow and steep stairs leading to the upstairs bedroom and patio. Would definitely return. Great value.

A Casa with Rustic Mexican Charm

The house included all the basics we needed for our seven week stay including a washer/dryer. We enjoyed the pool and patios and having doors and windows open. The location although at a busy intersection is close to a park and market and restaurants - so much to enjoy nearby. We enjoyed our stay and appreciate our host who made our visit a pleasant one by being so attentive.

Dental Tourism in Centro Merida Mexico

The location was very close to my dentist which was nice. Overall I was able to get my dental work done and walk to many people. The Host, Daniel, was nice to deal with and did provide what I needed for the 35 day stay. The pool, smart tv and the home's antiques were enjoyable.However, there were 3 things that I did not enjoy.1.) The corner home had alot of traffic, traffic lights and was very noisy. There was a nightclub behind the house where loud music was played every Friday and Saturday night until 3 am. Hard to sleep.2.)The 17 steps leading to the one bedroom upstairs were very steep and I had to be careful when climbing down.3.) The kitchen had a bad ant problem. The Host did provide me with insect sprays and I did use them, but they did little to stop the ants, so I had to be very careful when preparing food and made sure all food was put in the refrigerator.I do recommend this house if one needs to be in walking distance of many centro location places. Also it was the one closest to my dentist.This is my honest review. BarbaraI just wish, the property was more relaxing and enjoyable.

Beautiful home in Centro

Very spacious and luxurious fully-furnished home in Centro, ideally located near some of Merida's best restaurants and historic sites. The pool area with fountain is a great place to relax and tune out the city on a hot afternoon, and the roof terrace is delightful at dusk when the breeze is up. Highly recommended; Daniel is a perfect host!

desagradable experiencia

falta de agua y muy poca presion, polvoso, pisos sucios, mal olor de drenage en el bano, unicamente tres toallas de bano para tres personas para toda la semana. no habia instrucciones para nada, AC unicamente en la recamara (temperatura de 40 C) escaleras peligrosas. Bar/night club atras de la casa con musica alta toda la noche, nada de esto mencionado en la descripcion de VRBO. El dueno/administrador cambio su actitud tan pronto nos quejamos del problema del agua y al final ni tan siquiera contesto nuestros mensajes, una tarde al regresar a la casa nos encontramos la puerta del patio abierta suponemos que El al ir a checar/cambiar la regadera la dejo abiera. pusimos un caja formal a VRBO (case no 35288249) tengo fotos y video por si son necesarias. No recomiendo esta propiedad ni me quedaria ahi otra vez.

Perfect getaway

My husband and I love staying at the house it is walking distance to the central and walking distance to a lot of restaurants. The house had everything that we needed. Loved the pool so relaxing after a day of shopping or touring to go relax in the pool. I recommend this place and definitely would stay again if back in Merdia!!!!

Beautiful hidden gem

I absolutely loved my stay at Casa de Pietra. I highly recommend staying in a home vs a hotel for a truly local MĆ©rida experience. The location is perfect in centro, just a few blocks from the main square and extremely accessible, but slightly off the beaten path so it doesnā€™t feel touristy. The home itself is very authentic in the architecture and decoration. My favourite parts were the private pool with beautiful waterfall and the colourful rooftop patio. The home is spacious and the air conditioning in the bedroom keeps you cool on hot nights. Daniel the host is so friendly and helpful, he even sent me videos on how to open the locks and use the pool, such a great host! He even provided face masks, hand sanitizer and gloves during the Covid pandemic. I would love to come back and canā€™t recommend staying here enough. Thank you for making my birthday trip amazing!

Best vacation ever...thanks to this property owner

Daniel, the owner really thought of every detail to make this a special vacation. Any essential item was provided and then some. He made this vacation the best I've ever had in my life. This property is unique and so comfortable. You can walk to anything. We will be coming back to stay here again. I love this city, this house, and the owner is awesome! Thank you so much Daniel! Loved our stay of just over a month in Casa de Piedra. Super nice and easy-going host who was always available. Great decoration...beautiful pieces...lots of books too. And close to where the cultural action is. Lots of restaurants , super market, meat and vegetable market near by. Would come back any time.
