The Forest Retreat is just steps away from the sun, sand and surf of south Chesterman Beach, the number one favourite Tofino local's beach!! You will be able to enjoy beach sunrises, sunsets, walks at any tide or time of day, storm watching and barefoot time without having to walk lengthy distance or search for (or pay for) parking!

Our cozy ground level main suite of the house is very easily accessible for anyone (no flights of stairs) and is fully surrounded by forest greenery and trees. Your fully self-contained space offers a great deal of privacy and a restorative and tranquil experience. The idea is to leave more rested, recharged and restored than when you arrived! The Forest retreat offers a wood burning stove for cozy winter evenings and a high-end medical-grade therapeutic wooden infrared sauna that seats 2-3 people at a time. Enjoy your very own private infrared sauna therapy sessions at the simple push of a button!

The Forest Retreat provides 1 bathroom, 2 queen beds, 1 twin bed and an additional pull-out couch/extra bedding if needed. All beds are complete with down duvets and high thread count white 100% cotton linens. 2 fans are provided and 2 white noise machines for those who prefer to sleep with white noise!

The suite has a roomy fully stocked kitchen with full size appliances to accommodate you for any length of stay. There is a small private outdoor seating area with BBQ and patio lights as well as a covered/closed-in entry way for storing gear of all kinds. You will have your own designated outdoor hose for rinsing beach gear.

Your local hosts (‘true’ locals, born and raised!) live in a separate suite of the house (we are a quiet family with a 16 and 19 year old). You may hear a small amount of intermittent footstep sound transfer (as will happen in any 1st floor suite of a 2-storey home), but we all are quiet by nature, highly respectful of everyone’s privacy/rest and we always create an environment of quiet time after 10:00pm (and appreciate that guests offer the same!).

We offer a high speed reliable internet connection and Roku streaming TV that not only comes with many channels but also allows you to access all of your favourite subscriptions! Automated sign-out is easy by entering your check-out date.

Black Bear Lane is a quiet, slow pace no-through road with a cul-de-sac (a good zone for kids to hang out/roller blade etc.) and a short night-illuminated walking path (very helpful for children’s safety and walking back from the beach after dark!). We are a one minute drive or 15-20min walk from the “Live to Surf” property/complex which offers many conveniences including: ‘Chocolate Tofino’ (delicious local made-on-site chocolates and ice cream, ‘Tofitian’ Coffee shop (quality coffee, treats and snacks), ‘Live to Surf’ - Tofino’s first (and largest) surf shop, bike rentals, a very small grocery store that carries the basics, ‘Wildside’ take-out (burgers, fries, fish and chips etc) and the very well loved ‘TacoFino’ food truck!!!

We are highly committed to healthy spaces and there are no strong chemical products/detergents/soaps etc. used or offered and no unmaintained/musty corners to be found! This space is an absolute safe zone (tested) for those with allergies and chemical/mold sensitivities (not easy to find in this town/climate!) Please reach out and ask Jade more detailed questions on that subject if you have mold or chemical sensitivity/allergy concerns!

We have many return guests that come back to make new memories each year and we strive to offer a memorable home base for all those who stay with us! Reviews listed before March 2026 specifically reflect the original vacation rental space (the smaller second floor suite) but since the suite switch, the location, furnishings, cleanliness standards and hosts are ALL exactly the same!!!
