New May 2017 Classic Seattle Craftsman Backyard Cottage, nestled in a quiet private setting, at the SW corner of vibrant Phinney Ridge. The natural light filled cottage with exposed beam has an inviting open upper floor plan with high ceilings and large windows. This is a stand alone house with no occupants above or below you.

Stroll to shopping and dining, coffee, grocery stores, Woodland Park Zoo and the Rose Garden. Perfectly situated between Wallingford, Greenlake, Fremont and Ballard. Enjoy the Ballard Locks and Brewery District, Golden Gardens, Fremont Troll, and Greenlake’s 2.8 mile path around lake with beaches, wading pool, children’s play area’s and public boat rentals. Use transit for a short ride to South Lake Union, Downtown, Seattle Pacific University, and University of Washington. Street parking is free and available.

Upon entering find gleaming white oak floors, classic millwork and eye-catching lighting. Kitchen features brand new stainless appliances, dishwasher, microwave, garbage disposal and a fully equipped kitchen, lots of counter space, and a kitchen island that seats 4. New modern furnishings, dimmable lighting throughout, stair-lighting, front loading washer and dryer. Stay cozy and warm in the winter and cool and relaxed in the summer with high output heat pump and air conditioner.

Our Cottage sleeps 2 people. You’ll find a queen sized bed in a private room that closes off with a solid wood pocket door. Please keep in mind the cottage is only 550 square feet and could be tight for some people (I.e. when considering luggage storage), but completely doable. The closet in the bedroom is large and there is also some storage in the bathroom/laundry room. Some travelers may find the space is too small for their liking. The cottage does have an interior set of stairs as the main living is on the upper floor. The bathroom is on the first floor allowing for privacy. Could possibly be a concern for younger travelers not accustomed to stairs. Stairs are nicely illuminated with stair lighting. Flat screen TV w/cable and Wifi included. Children books, toys, high-chair and Pack-n-Play available upon request. Street parking is available.

Great little cottage

Very clean and spacious, great kitchen, very nice neighborhood. Karleen was very sweet, we had a great stay. Would have loved to have a place to sit outside but aside from that it's perfect.

Perfect for Seattle getaway

Terrific summer stay

Really excellent property and the hosts were communicative but unobtrusive. I felt safe and it was quiet while at the same time being ideally located for activities throughout Seattle— would highly recommend if you come in town for a woodland park zoo show as it’s a piece of cake to walk to the entrance even carrying chairs and blankets.

Great stay!

We loved our stay at Phinney Ridge! Karleen was extremely helpful and easy to reach. The house was spotless, and also very conveniently nearby to a ton of restaurants and other food options. We also found it pretty easy to walk to the nearby bus stop and use the public transit. We would highly recommend staying there if you’re in the Seattle area!

Thank you for the great review! We too wish we could have it all! The city of Seattle would only permit a specific foot print square footage for our backyard cottage. So unfortunately we had to make layout decisions. Our thought was having the bathroom/laundry downstairs gave privacy in a small space. Definitely not convenient or desirable for everyone. Although, we added stair lights in hopes for making nighttime trips easier. Again, thanks for making mention as it helps other travelers decide if this space will work for their adventure to the Emerald City!

A wonderful place to stay!

My family (2 adults and 2 young children), had a wonderful week long stay at The Drey. The owners communicated with us before our arrival, and were available throughout our stay. The rental space is newly renovated to living quarters and everything is beautifully appointed, in a great location. I've stayed with VRBO all over the globe, and I can highly recommend The Drey. Very Relaxing....

Karleen and Mark have a gorgeous little cottage in a perfect location close to down town and the zoo. The cottage was perfect, quite and very clean and organized. When my wife and I saw the knives lined up in the drawer, we knew this was the place to stay. We will definitely be back for another stay. Thx Karleen and Mark.

Perfect place and attentive host

Beautiful new and spotless unit where every detail has been looked after. An ideal location for exploring Seattle and environs. Karleen is the perfect host and it’s clear she wants the very best for her guests. She’s always available for recommending tours and things to do in the area. Needless to say, we’d like to come back for a return visit.

Quiet, Clean and Cozy!

Loved staying here! The unit is newly remodeled/built, so everything is nice and clean. We came during a colder time, but the insulation on the main floor is really solid, and has a heater that kept us warm the entire time. Amenities were great, and our host was super communicative and helpful. Definitely will be looking for this listing again when I come back to Seattle, thank you so much!

Our ‘hood offers the ultimate in playgrounds – the Woodland Park Zoo. People from all over the city flock to Woodland Park and Woodland Park Zoo. Check out Summer 2017 Zoo Tunes! This area is the perfect mix of quiet neighborhood meets in-city energy. Phinney Avenue just begs to be strolled down and enjoyed. New eateries, coffee shops, and fun boutique shops are opening up all the time, and the Phinney Neighborhood Association keeps a steady string of community events on their calendar. Phinney Ridge is simply one of Seattle's best locations!

Our cottage is a stand alone structure and so it is private and quiet. You are not in a basement with a family above, but rather the upper level of a light and airy space with high ceilings. The windows, sky-light and entry level door allow for maximum natural light. Everything in the Drey is brand new!
