Beautiful Period Home in the Berkshires

Situated on 26 acres in the heart of the Berkshires in the small town of South Egremont, MA, this early 19th c. house combines the charm of the antique with all the modern conveniences including two screened-in porches. Conveniently located five minutes from Gt. Barrington, MA and 25 minutes from Stockbridge, Tanglewood, and Hudson, NY. The property also sits adjacent to the Appalachian Trail with plenty of local options for hiking and skiing. We are central to the many cultural attractions that make the Berkshires such a year-round attraction.

A three bedroom home, the first floor contains a living room with fireplace, exposed beams and overhead fan, a modern kitchen, sitting room with fireplace, master suite, bathroom, laundry/dressing room, and two screened-in porches. The second floor consists of two bedrooms, and an additional full bath. Central air conditioning throughout with additional auxiliary window air conditioner in one upstairs bedroom, ceiling fan in living room. Barbecue grill as well. Guests have the whole house to themselves.

Now this house...

We loved it: the converted house was lovingly restored and updated. Elegant, with all the New England farmhouse hallmarks (wide plank floors, six-over-six windows, original winter and summer kitchen fireplaces, large latched doors, and a winding staircase) updated with two full bathrooms and a large eat-in kitchen. Close to everything we wanted to be close to. We will definitely try to stay here again!

Cozy tranquility in the Berkshires!

What a wonderful experience. We had the pleasure of meeting Grace and her husband who are lovely, kind and welcoming. The house was everything we dreamed of and more. We travel a lot and are often disappointed by rentals. This home was even better than the pictures. It was cozy and clean, authentic yet modern. We were seeking a private and quiet retreat, and this was exactly what we got. We had such a lovely stay and can't wait to come back to this gem. Grace is extremely responsive and thoughtful. Thank you Grace!

Staying in a 200+ year old cottage

Set on a lovely lot, this small house is spacious and has two porches. The kitchen and baths in the original part of the house have been updated (the upstairs bathroom has a hand held shower head but there's no shower curtain and you have to be short to be able to stand up); the original living room has 19th century charm and is quite dark--but with some lighting. The more recently added living area is light and comfortable. When we arrived, one of the porches and the living area were dank and, over the next few days there were many large fruit flies and a few spiders. Although there were new windows and screens in most of the house, they weren't clean. The stairs to the upstairs bedrooms are a bit hazardous but there are good handrails. We really enjoyed all the nearby venues and events. Grace, the host, was responsive when we discovered that there weren't any potholders, and delivered a couple to us. Although the house is just off a fairly busy road, it was quiet and we all slept well.

Our family had a wonderful stay at this historic cottage in the Berkshires. Very comfortable, kitchen well stocked, owners very helpful, great location close to Great Barrington and surrounding nature.

Great old world meets new

Lots of room in this house. Big kitchen. Great bathrooms!! Grace and Elliot were wonderful hosts! Always available and open to help or give advice.

Secluded, spacious, and special

Its a rustic farmhouse-like building with numerous rooms for sitting and relaxing. Two floors, fireplaces. Two full bathrooms. Rustic. Lots of exposed wooden beams and doors. Wonderfully supportive hosts.

Wonderful antique house

My wife and I stayed for a weekend with another couple. Really charming house in a convenient location. The house is as pictured, well decorated and spotless. I was really impressed with how clean it was. We intend to come back.

Wonderful vacation cottage!

We felt so at home in Grace and Elliot's cottage. It was clean, warm and homey. The hosts were very responsive on the few occasions when we had questions. The property and walking trails are lovely, too, and proximity to skiing at Catamount was great. I would highly recommend a stay here.

Wonderful stay

This beautifully blended old and new home is lovely, spacious and well appointed for cooking, relaxing, enjoying the outdoors. It's situated on beautiful land in a great location. And the owners, Grace and Elliott, couldn't be more accomodating. We are looking forward to returning.

Great winter time escape.

My family and I had a great stay at the property. Communication was easy and the listing was accurate. The home was very spacious and well maintained including the kitchen and bathrooms which is always great to see. It was a quiet property with great location between Catamount skiing and Great Barrington.

Charming comfortable home

This property was perfect for our family of four on our ski vacation in the Berkshires, although it can comfortably sleep more guests. This historic home has charm and comfort. It contained all the necessary supplies for cooking and enjoying our time. It abuts the woods providing for lovely scenery. We would like to return.

Charming Place Missing a Few Things

The house and property are charming. The kitchen did not have a coffee maker or enough glassware. Otherwise a delightful home in a great location. Be sure to have dinner at The Old Mill restaurant right around the corner.

Thank you for your response. There is a coffee maker in the kitchen--a Melitta filter coffee maker as well as filters and coffee. I always check on this before guests arrive. There is no electric coffee maker as I think filter coffee is superior. There is glassware for eight. Sorry you didn't feel this is enough. I can add some more.
