Located on the hills of the first countryside of Romagna, at 1 km from the medieval village of Dozza and 25 km from Bologna, Villa Calanco Country House is an elegant eighteenth-century country house set in a parkland with ancient trees and a farm of more than 3 hectares. The structure has just been completely renovated by the owners who have personally taken care of the details with particular care and with full respect of its history.The apartments has been carefully restored and furnished, which keep intact the charm of the rural tradition of Romagna, like the ancient terracotta, wood, raftered ceiling , antique doors and furniture, giving life to a sober and elegant style that blends the modern comforts.The comfortable and privileged geographical position allows to reach cities rich in history and art as Bologna ( 25 km), Ravenna (52 km), Ferrara (74 km), Imola ( 7 km), Faenza ( 22 km), Brisighella ( 32km) and Dozza (1 km), one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.

5 day stay family of four

We're an active family of 4 from Australia. This area is fantastic if you like trail walks, history, wine, relaxation and good views. We found an amazing place to eat and drink and enjoy amazing views while exploring a local wine trail. Got a bit lost but found our way eventualy with google maps. Visitbthe castle for a small fee, very interesting. The villa is beautiful with good cooking facilities. The beds were big enough and comfortable, and the pool area was lovely. The goats were friendly enough too. Franco, the owner, was absolutely lovely and very helpful. Thanks for a lovely, relaxing stay.

Beautiful home in the country

We enjoyed our stay at Villa Calanco. Our apartment was very comfortable and clean, we had everything we needed. Franco was lovely, we enjoyed the bottle of wine left for us. Thank you. The garden was lovely, we had our own outside area, very private. The swimming pool was lovely. Very informative booklet in our apartment with all the information we needed to know. Peaceful and quiet location but handy to everything. Lovely views.

Klimaanlage defekt, wurde auf Nachfassen repariert. Reichlich Platz im 2 Zi Schlafzimmer Appartment. Hohe Lautstärke durch Zikaden; viele Insekten die das Draussensitzen unangenehm machten.

wunderschöne Woche

der Aufenthalt mit meinen Töchtern wird mir unvergesslich bleiben. Signore Franco war extrem hilfsbereit und sehr freundlich. Das Apartment ist sauber und gemütlich. Auf Grund des schönen Wetters konnten wir den Essplatz unter den wunderschönen Bäumen vom Frühstück bis zum Abendessen nützen. Von Dozza aus kann man alle Sehenswürdigkeiten der Umgebung gut und schnell erreidhen. Auch meine Töchteer haben diese Tage genossen. Wir können dieses Objekt wärmstens empfehlen.

Eine Oase der Ruhe und Erholung - wunderbar

Mit zwei kleinen Kindern hatten wir einen wunderbaren, erholsamen und ruhigen Urlaub in der Villa Calanco. Das Appartement ist mit viel Liebe zum Detail historisch eingerichtet und lässt trotzdem keine Wünsche hinsichtlich des Komforts offen. Man merkt, mit wie viel Liebe und Einsatz Familie Giaconia das Anwesen betreibt und pflegt. Es hat uns an nichts gefehlt, eine kurze Nachfrage reichte aus und schon gab es abends sogar Licht zum gemeinsamen Fußballspiel. Die Lage ist ideal um die Emilia-Romagna zu erkunden, der große und gepflegte Garten bietet auch bei großer Hitze genug Raum zur Abkühlung bei gleichzeitiger Privatsphäre. Wir haben uns sehr willkommen gefühlt und kommen gerne wieder. Grazie, Franco, per la grande ospitalità!

Un séjour exceptionnel

Nous avons passé d’excellentes vacances pendant 18 jours dans cette propriété. La location correspond exactement à ce qui est indiqué. L’ hôte est génial et toujours disponible lorsqu’il y a besoin. Gianfranco a été un hôte remarquable, y compris lorsque nous recherchions un médecin. Possibilité d’avoir des tomates délicieuses du jardin et des œufs frais. La piscine est grande et très agréable. La propriété est idéalement placée pour visiter la région ( Dozza, Bologne, Parme, Brisighella, Ravenne, la côte adriatique, San Marin, Imola, et évidemment la motor valley avec Ferrari et Lamborghini). Merci pour ce super séjour.

Peaceful country retreat in great location

My husband and I have just returned from a wonderful holiday in Italy. We stayed in a stylish apartment in the elegant 18th century Villa Calanco. The property is set in a large garden in the countryside, with nice views of the surrounding farmland. I enjoyed swimming in the well-maintained pool and relaxing beside it. The kitchen was well equipped, and we liked to have a barbeque in the evening. However, the steps up to the apartment make it a challenge to remember everything to minimise the journeys up and down. Eating tomatoes and courgettes fresh from the garden was delightful. The property is only a few minutes drive from Dozza, a pretty little town, and is conveniently situated for visiting other towns, such as Imola, Bologna, Modena , Ferrara and Ravenna, as well as the mountains. Franco was an attentive and helpful host and made our stay a happy one.

Idylisk, charmerende, smukt, afslappende, venligt - Et besøg værd.

Vi (familie på 4) havde en dejlig uge hos Franco og hans familie. Vi boede i App. Anna der er indrettet i original stil - smukt ! Der er desværre ikke en altan til lejligheden - det ville have været fantastisk. Der er A/C på værelset hvis det bliver for varmt om natten. Poolen blev flittigt benyttet af både børn og voksne. Den er ret ny og bliver gjort ren hver morgen. Der blev under opholdet stillet grøntsager frem fra haven som frit kunne benyttes - god stil. Ejeren er meget venlig og nem at komme i kontakt med. Den gamle by Dozza indeholder nogle fantastisk gode restauranter som absolut er et besøg værd. Vi kunne fint komme tilbage til dette sted.

Schöne Ferienwohnungen in parkähnlicher Umgebung

Wir haben unseren kurzen Aufenthalt im Haus von Franco und seiner Familie sehr genossen. Die Wohnungen sind in jeglicher Hinsicht gut ausgestattet und Franco war immer, wenn wir ihn brauchten zur Stelle und half uns weiter. Einen Verbesserungsvorschlag habe ich dennoch: Manchmal kann es offensichtlich auch im Oktober schon witterungsbedingt kühl sein, sodass in dem historischen und wenig isolierten Gemäuer speziell am Morgen unangenehm sein kann. Nur aus diesem Grund habe ich mich entschlossen, nur vier statt der eigentlich verdienten fünf Sterne zu vergeben. Beste Grüße von uns allen, Franco.

Una vacanza perfetta

Ci siamo sentiti molto bene alla Villa Calanco. Tutto é ristaurato di buonissimo gusto! Il luogo é perfetto per il mix di rilassarsi (giardino e piscina) e fare escursioni a tante cittá interessante (Bologna, Ferrara, Ravenna ect. oppure al mare. Possiamo consigliarla assolutamente.

Dans une maison très agréable où l'on se sent bien tout de suite ! Très bonne installation générale, confortable, très simple et très propre. Une piscine tout récemment installée qui fut l'excellente surprise de notre arrivée ! Des propriétaires charmants et très sympathiques !

Country charm.

My wife and I, along with my wife's sister, stayed at Villa Calanco Country House for three nights in May 2017. We rented two apartments, Quintino and Anna. Both apartments were lovely. They were immaculate, comfortable and very well appointed. The owner, Franco, was an attentive and charming host who made us feel very welcome and at home. This beautiful accommodation is located in the quiet country side of Dozza and provided an excellent base in which to explore the country side, the Medieval small village of Dozza and day trips to Bologna and Ravenna. Although there are lovely restaurants within a short distance from Villa Calanco, , we spent two of our three evenings eating al fresco in the beautiful gardens of this lovely accommodations. Fijne plek en goed appartement

We werden goed opgevangen door Franco.Het appartement Anna is ruim, goed voorzien en netjes. In de tuin zijn diverse zitjes gemaakt met mooi meubilair in de schaduw of de zon. Het zwembad is ruim en goed verzorgd en er zijn heerlijke ligbedden rondom en parasols, Ook kan men gebruik maken van alle informatie over de omgeving. De wijn van Franco is heerlijk en voordelig. Kortom; een heerlijke plek en prima uitvalsbasis voor een bezoek aan b.v.Bologna of Ravenna. Ook Dozza zelf is interessant.

Franco was born in Tuscany and has known Teresa on a trip to Africa. Both are travel enthusiasts.
In 1999, Franco, Teresa, and the kids Antonio and Anna from Tuscany are transfered in Dozza.
Franco immediately was fascinated by Villa Calanco, dwelling which since 1700 has been owned by the family of Teresa
As a restorer has personally coordinated and executed many of the restoration works that have lasted over 10 years.
Teresa, graduate in history, works at the State Archives of Imola.
Antonio is an architect and works in a technical office in Imola and Anna study at the University of Bologna.
