Eight year old rental home only 1.5 miles north of Custer about .5 mile off of Sylvan Lake Road (Highway 89) on Elk Valley Road. Home is in the pines and has beautiful views in every direction. Relax on the deck or in the hammock on the lower level patio and watch the deer and wild turkeys who are daily visitors.

We had a great stay at this home! The location was idealā€”close to everything we wanted to explore in the Black Hills and easy to get to. The kitchen was well-stocked with cookware, utensils, and even our favorite Keurig coffee pods. Our kids loved spending time in the basement, which was perfect for games and movie nights. We also enjoyed watching deer and turkeys wander through the yard each morning. It truly felt like a comfortable home away from home, and weā€™d gladly stay here again!

The Burger's were the best host's and their property exceeded our expectations. They had almost every single accommodation we needed, except a bedroom fan which was immediately brought to the house upon asking Shirley if she had one. The location in custer was centrally located to so many great attractions and just a 5 minute drive to the downtown. The location was so peaceful and we saw a beautiful deer family right by the property everytime we drove back and forth. I would highly recommend this property!!!

We had an amazing stay! Our family of four loved sitting on the deck, watching the wild life, enjoying the beautiful scenery, and playing in the game room in the basement. The house was immaculate, well stocked, and so comfortable. We would highly recommend and would come back in a blink of an eye.

Great place to stay in the Black Hills!

This house was so lovely! From relaxing on the back porch to playing games in the basement, we had a total blast! The house has all the amenities, is in a great location near Custer, and you can see local wildlife from the home! This home was above and beyond our expectations! We will definitely stay here again while visiting the area.

Our stay in Custer SD

This property is as described by the owner and previous guests . The house is in a quiet neighborhood with plenty of space between neighbors and is well maintained. We felt welcomed and comfortable. As previous guests stated, it is well stocked with plenty of bath towels and kitchen towels. Speaking of the kitchen, I've never stayed in a house stocked with everything you might need to prepare meals including foil, cling wrap, wax paper, zip lock bags and many spices. You'll feel like you're in your own home!It is very commendable of the hosts that they see to all the small details so that you donā€™t have to and can do what you are there for in the first placeā€¦.Explore ā€¦ Adventureā€¦Have fun!The property location was perfect. We only needed short drives to get to Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park, Wind Cave, Jewel Cave and even Devils Tower in Wyoming(only a 2-hour drive from Custer and is recommended if you have the time) . Also, the property is centrally located to many hiking trails in the area if this is something you like to do. Lynn's Dakota Mart was a short drive from the house, and they had everything we were looking for in the way of groceries. Custer also has plenty of choices for eating out if this is what you would prefer.We would definitely stay here again.

This is a favorite home for our family trips to the Hills. Amazing central location to all things Black Hills Adventure and the home is beautiful with all the amenities. Highly recommend.

Excellent Stay

We enjoyed staying at this property. The house was very clean and comfortable. The host has thought of everything you might need while staying there! Kitchen was well stocked w/ dishes and cooking supplies. We loved sitting on the deck and watching the wildlife. House was in a great location for exploring the Black Hills area! Good place for Black Hills vacation

My wife and I enjoyed the house immensely. We made good use of the kitchen and outdoor dining area, and thoroughly enjoyed watching the large flock of wild turkeys that often roamed through the yard and down to the neighbors pond.

Vacation of a lifetime!

This was the cleanest home! The Burgers were able to accommodate us a day earlier than our reservation. We absolutely loved the home. It had everything you would need. Hopefully we can come back.

Fantastic stay

My husband and I traveled alone on this trip and this home had everything we needed (and more) for our 9 night stay. When booking I was looking for something in a central location with a nice view that had a full kitchen and a table large enough for us to do a puzzle in our evening down times. This place was great. Most of our meals were prepared at the house and the kitchen had everything we needed. We enjoyed our morning coffee and evening dinners on the balcony or downstairs patio. It was so peaceful watching the birds, deer and wild turkeys. We were blessed to witness a mama deer give birth to 2 babies right at the base of the tree line on the property. We didn't use the game room downstairs but I can see how it would be fantastic for a family with kids or teens. We were on the go most days seeing the Black Hills, Deadwood, the Badlands and Devils Tower. The house was great to come home to at the end of each day. The only "negative" I have is the Jack & Jill bathroom that is shared between the 2 bedrooms. For us on this trip it didn't matter but we usually travel with another couple and we would not have chosen this house if they were with us. I personally wouldn't want to share a bathroom when trying to get ready in the mornings or after a long day of sight seeing. For us it was perfect. We were able to spread our "stuff" out, cook and do laundry as needed. It was a great home away from home. We really loved everything about it and would highly recommend it.

Fantastic Stay in the Black Hills

We recently stayed at this great property, and it was fantastic. The house is modern, super clean, and had everything we needed to be comfortable. The kitchen was fully stocked, making it easy to cook our meals. The living areas were cozy, with comfy mattresses, though the pillows were a bit flat and could use replacing. There were plenty of linens, but a few more washcloths would have been nice. There were lots of fun things to do, like playing air hockey, foosball, and darts. Outside, we enjoyed the table, chairs, hammock, gas fire pit, and swing set. The spacious garage is perfect for a large vehicle, and the big mudroom and laundry area were handy after our hikes. The views of the Black Hills were beautiful, with lots of trees and a small pond, making it a peaceful spot. We even saw white-tailed deer from the deck! The helpful labels on light switches, in the kitchen, bathrooms, and storage spaces made everything easy to find. The wine fridge and variety of glasses were a nice touch for relaxing in the evenings. The location is great for visiting Custer State Park, Mt. Rushmore, and Crazy Horse, and it's a shorter drive to the Mammoth Site and Wind Cave National Park. We mostly cooked at the house, getting groceries from Lynnā€™s Dakotamart, but we also recommend The Purple Pie Place and Bakerā€™s Bakery & Cafe for eating out. Overall, this property was better than we expected and made a perfect base for our Black Hills adventures!

Wonderful accommodation and location!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The property is located close to the town of Custer, Sylvan Lake and many other hiking trails and sights for visitors to see. From relaxing on the deck, playing games in the backyard and in the game room in the basement, to the impressive organization and supplies available in the kitchen/bathroom/mudroom...the owners thought of practically everything to make our stay memorable. It is very peaceful place to stay and one we plan to book again someday.

Best VRBO

We have stayed at many VRBOs and this was the cleanliest, the best stocked with essentials (hand soap, paper towels, ziplock bags, etc.) that we have EVER been to. The kitchen was fully stocked like someone lives there at all times. Stocked with spices, small appliances for your convenience too (our favorite was the waffle maker). They even have filtered water from a drinking water faucet (which is RARE), everything was labeled and organized. Not to mention the amazing chef's kitchen with high end appliances. We loved our stay and is the PERFECT location if you're looking to do any of the attractions around Custer. Thanks Stan and Shirley

We have always enjoyed vacationing in the Black Hills with our children over the years. As we near retirement we chose to build this home in the Custer area to be closer to our children and grandchildren who now live in Colorado.
