Elm Cottage - a charming traditional stone cottage with 2 bedrooms on Arniston Estate

Newly refurbished and located on the stunning Lime Avenue drive to Arniston House Elm Cottage is one of 4 charming stone cottages which housed the foresters for the Estate in days gone by. Set in a sunny tranquil courtyard the cottages overlook fields to the north. The cottages also have an area of peaceful garden for visitors' use. A timeless place to relax in the country yet only 30 minutes from the center of Edinburgh with all its attractions. An ideal base for families with pets.

Elm Cottage has one double or twin room and shower room on ground floor level. Upstairs is a king bedroom with a shower room. The kitchen is fully equipped including an electric oven and hob, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher. The cosy sitting room has a wood burning stove with logs and kindling provided free of charge by the estate woodlands. A Freeview TV, DVD player and Wi-Fi are provided to entertain you during a relaxing break.

Ground floor: Entrance hall, sitting/dining room with wood burning stove. Well equipped kitchen. 1 king or twin bedroom, shower room with WC and wash hand basin and spacious shower cubicle.
First floor: 1 king or twin room with comb ceiling. Shower room with WC and wash hand basin and separate shower cubicle.

Relaxing stay

Thank you a lovely relaxing stay at Elm Cottage. The cottage was in an ideal location, close to the train station (although difficult to get a space). Advertised having a DVD player, but there wasn't one. White van visiting every morning to a neighbour parking very close to our front door, preventing us from sitting outside in the morning.

Perfect location

We’ve stayed at Arniston estate on numerous occasions, its location is perfect for getting into Edinburgh with the park and ride railway station only a 5 minute drive. It is also easy to explore the Scottish Borders. Its quiet and peaceful and offers everything you need.

Coming from the U.S. and communicating with the host was very easy and seamless. Letting her know that we would be arriving late made it easy to prepare for the check in process. There is a key box at the door. It was pitch dark at the property and I would suggest dim lighting if possible. We didn’t know what to expect and I’ll just say we rushed to get in the cottage. Beautiful property, cozy cottage and we would definitely stay there again. Full kitchen, WiFi, lot of room!!

Beautiful location, fantastic cottage

We stayed here for my wifes birthday, we did a trip to edinburgh, and it was an easy 30 minute drive in to town (princes street parking is the most reasonably priced if you are doing the same) great showers at the end of long days. Henrietta was very helpful and everything went extremely smoothly. 100% will stay here again on our next trip

Both check in and check out process was seamless. The house was beautiful and had everything we needed! Information about the property was clear and extensive. My family, The Dundas family, have owned and lived at Arniston for 450 years. We very much enjoy welcoming visitors to the estate to experience the timeless beauty of our home. The current mansion house was built by William Adam in 1726 and many of our cottage visitors enjoy the guided tours which run from May to mid-September. We are so fortunate to live in the country yet we have Edinburgh with all its attractions just a short train ride away.

The stunning setting for our properties is always remarked on. Arniston is a designated designed landscape with many ancient broadleaf trees and wonderful woodlands to explore with pets. We have the best of both worlds as the buzz of our capital city, Edinburgh with all its attractions is a 25 minute train ride away.
