Sand Waves - Beach Access

This exceptional home offers expansive ocean and dune views with comfort, sophistication and style. The artfully decorated open concept living area includes a modern kitchen with stainless steel appliances, sleek granite counters, and breakfast bar. There is a large custom table with high back chairs for a memorable meal and comfortable seating for relaxing in front of the gas fireplace. A row of floor-to-ceiling windows offers open views of the shoreline and Ten Mile dunes, from every room in the house.

All three bedrooms have king size beds, their own designated bathroom and double sliding glass doors with those amazing ocean views. Each door leads to the spacious deck that extends the length of the home and offers a gas barbecue, hammock & outdoor dining. Here, right at the back door, you may enjoy the salty sea breezes as well as the awesome views as you listen to the soothing sounds of the surf. Just a short stroll (less than 500 feet) will lead you to the staircase accessing the beach below.

Although Sand Waves is pet friendly, please note that it is limited to dogs only with a maximum number of no more than 2.

Almost perfect for our family holiday vacation

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a fantastic time and were able to use the kitchen for daily meals and to celebrate our Christmas holiday with our family and new granddaughter. They were only small problems. The biggest issue was the hot water. The property offers a large soaking tub in the main bathroom however there’s not enough water to even partially fill the tub. We’re not sure whether the water heater is too small for the large home or if they simply aren’t turning it up to heat enough water to fill the tub. One other problem, the central heat did not work in the bedrooms, no matter what we did.We all agree it was one of the best short-term vacation rentals that we’ve ever stayed in. But my son and I are big soaker and this was one of the reasons why we rented this vacation home and it was unfortunate that we were not able to soak in a hot bathtub as we had really been looking forward to it.

Kitchen was well equipped, the rooms were comfortable and the home was very clean. We were all very pleased! The stairs to the beach are not bad at all...my husband is 80 and he was able to navigate them just fine. Highly recommend this home and we hope to visit again.

Ocean Retreat

House was very spacious and well set up. Kitchen was well stocked. Beds were comfortable. Location was very nice neighborhood was quiet. Access to the beach was not easy if you don’t do a lot of stairs but great access to a beach that is a short drive away.

Exceeded expectations!

Everything from the layout of the house, which was exceptional… Master suite on one side of the house, other bedrooms on the other. Very generous, living space and gorgeous deck. 3 minute walk to the beautiful beach. Although it would have been good to know about the steep stairs and all the driftwood at the bottom that we had to climb over! The house was very comfortable and felt like a home not a vacation rental. Plenty of seating space and a well appointed kitchen. Stunning views from every room. Comfy hammock on the deck and a very pristine hot tub.

It was so sweet that the staff left a birthday welcome sign and flowers for my husband as it was a birthday celebration for his birthday. They left treats and a toy for our puppy. The view was beautiful. The hero is the beach. In the evening when the tide is out, the whole beach changes into a magical experience.

Great house, great location!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I stayed at Sand Waves for 3 nights with 5 girlfriends. We loved the 3 king beds, and the 3 full bathrooms! Each room looks out on the coast. The hot tub was great and the hammock was so comfy! The kitchen is huge and well stocked. The beach is indeed within walking distance, but be aware that the stairs are long and steep! Ten Mile Beach is a beautiful beach. We had an issue with the TV and Mendocino Preferred sent a very nice woman to **** us solve the problem. My friends and I had a great time, and we would rent Sand Waves again.

Vacation by the beach

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We rented this home for a long weekend with my parents. Upon arrival the house is spacious, loved how the master was completely separate from the rest of the rooms. Huge laundry (bring your own soap and fabric softener, it is not provided.) Loved the 3 spacious bathrooms, and rooms that face the ocean. Great hot tub & kitchen. Technology in the home was lacking with VHS tapes and slow wifi, but we weren't home that much so was a non issue. The beach access, was amazing, very steep stairs, but then you are right on the beach and a gorgeous beach where it was pretty quiet! 😊 My major problem was the ant infestation. This is an obvious issue due to the sign about ants in the kitchen and the active bait in the kitchen on arrival. They were everywhere though. In the kitchen, laundry, bathroom and by the end they were in my bag, on my clothes, in my purse. I had called the company and their only solution was to give us more ant bait. I have two small toddlers and to me this really wasn't possible. The smell alone from the ant bait was very toxic smelling. They stated they would have a manager call me and never did. Just had someone drop off more ant bait. All in all, it was a great location and beautiful home.

Ocean view home

The interior home was very clean, spacious, had newer appliances, and had large windows with nice views. The deck had enough seating for many. The bathrooms were good size too. They provide coffee and creamer. The cons is that they don’t provide shampoo or conditioner. The exterior front house needs updating. There were multiple abandoned wasps nests attached to the house. Luckily we didn’t see any bees or wasps but not something you want to see. Overall I would recommend due to the proximity of the beach. It does require walking up and down multiple stairs which a few of our guest couldn’t do due to knee issues.

Beds are comfy, spa is awesome, kitchen is stocked with any utensil or appliance you could need. Both loveseats are a bit low and for older adults hard to get out of.

The neighbourhood stairway down to the beach is a highlight. Walking along the fens, just south of the neighbourhood was great. I saw seals in Ten Mile River when I was coming back from that hike. The house itself is nice. the kitchen is large with enough room and implements for several cooks. Each bedroom has a great view of the ocean waves rolling in. The beds were comfortable. There are two deep bathtubs for soaking and an outside hot tub. There were lots of birds in the neighbourhood. I especially enjoyed the red-wing blackbird males singing. They reminded me of my childhood. Thanks, Mendocino Preferred and SandWave owners for the nice stay.

Would stay here again!

Very nice home, lots of windows, spacious rooms and very clean. We didn't do any cooking, just coffee in the morning but it definitely has a great kitchen. It rained mostly, but with all the windows we didn't feel locked inside.

Sand Waves is a very comfortable house with lovely furnishings and a well stocked and beautiful kitchen area. It is very easy to feel right at home and start relaxing immediately when staying here. And, as always, the Mendocino Preferred Team made everything easy. One never needs to be concerned about anything when booking through them.

Hard to leave

What a relaxing ocean-side stay in a neighborhood that was quiet. With bluff-access only dozens of steps away, this home is a gem.

The place is well stocked, clean with modern amenities and the location is lovely. Beach access is a a few houses down the street in a quiet neighborhood with a stunning beach. The location is a about 10 min north of Fort Bragg, so a bit out of town, but the beach and tranquility made the drive worthwhile. Reservations and the check in/out process was smooth and well documented.

Missed the little things

Overall the property is in a great location and the house is nicely done on the inside but everything else was done on the cheap. The pillows are just plain awful and there are no extras, there is no shampoo in any bathroom, 2 of the 3 mattresses are old and very uncomfortable. The living room furniture is about 10 years passed its useful life and the wifi only covers half of the house. If you plan on cooking you will need to buy and bring everything, all they keep on hand is the minimal spices. The checkout 'to-do list' is extensive/excessive and makes you wonder why a cleaning crew is needed. The big picture hits on this house but the small things that make a house feel like home are a huge miss.
