There are vacations where you run as fast as you can to visit every historic site, shop in every boutique store, eat at every restaurant you can find... You wear yourself out and down and become frazzled. In just a few days you're dying to go home where you can rest and relax.

Well, that doesn't happen at Whale Rock .... not here. You won't want to leave Whale Rock because every moment of the day is special here - like the early morning light over the ocean and beach - (Okay.... sleep late if you want to) - like soft afternoons and walks on the beach or along the river (or you can take a nap - aren't you on vacation?)

Youā€™ll like the peaceful early evenings... a time for cocktails or sipping wine while overlooking the beach from the private deck above the beach - called "The Perch" - and the rolling surf of the Pacific ... and, of course, like at sunset and strolls on the beach .... why would you want to leave Whale Rock?

In this comfortable beach-style home, you'll marvel at the views. Even the winter storms... and we sometimes get fierce ones... can be mesmerizing. It's like living on the edge. Stay in and read, nap, or walk down to the beach and explore. Whale Rock is a rarity - a beach house vacation rental...

Please note: This home does not offer an internet connection, but it does have a landline and DVD collection. This is your chance to disconnect for a while...

An absolutely amazing experience with an extremely helpful host to help make your stay the easiest and most relxed possible. Our family fell in love with the beautiful house and the breathtaking scenery to go with it. We wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely save this home for the future.

It is the perfect, relaxing getaway. The view is almost unbelievable in person and the house is so cozy - the perfect vibe for the atmosphere. The beds are also incredibly comfortable which is so rare in a vacation rental. We're already planning our next visit and can't wait to keep coming back for years to come!

There were a few surprises, there were rat droppings in the garage and one of my friends saw a rat on the kitchen counter in the middle of the night getting in to food. The shower head in the master bath is very old, and it comes out so strong it actually hurts, just need a new one. Like I said, we love it and enjoy our time very much!

This was our daily: Morning coffee on the deck. Dog walks on the beach twice a day. Early dinners in Mendocino a half hour away. Back at the house for hot tub sunset.

House and location are fantastic!

Too many superlatives to list about the house but the highlights are spectacular location right on the ocean, very comfortable living room, beds are great, the most movie dvds I have ever seen in a private home, excellent large screen tv and fully stocked kitchen. Would definitely stay here again.

Some windows in bedrooms need screen. Cobwebs here and there were creepy. Playing ping pong table was fun. Megan at Mendo Preferred gave the most unkind service and was flat out rude - but the rest of the team seemed to understand customer service. Location is good for peace and quiet. Sunsets were awesome.
