Just outside Sedbergh, between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, it's the perfect base to explore the fells, trails, and scenery on your doorstep. Prefer to relax? Unwind in two outdoor hot tubs, make use of high-speed B4RN Wi-Fi and a smart TV, and soak up breathtaking views from the garden. Free parking is available for 15 - 20 cars.

I could not fault anything. Every communication from the owners and team was great, the house is incredible and the views are breathtaking. Highly recommend staying here! Plenty space for larger groups, each room having its own en-suite is luxury. Double hot tub, Looking out to fields of sheep is the perfect way to start your morning. We all would 100% stay again. We also had a chef (Paul) booked via groupia cook us a lovely 3 course meal which was an amazing addition to our stay.

Great place for our reading group

Fantastic place with lots of nooks and crannies to explore. Sheep right on your doorstep, and the hot tubs were fantastic and well-maintained. Really comfy beds and a large kitchen, big enough to cook for the 20 guests we had with us. Thanks so much, we will be back

Amazing yet against n

This was our third year at Howgills house, absolutely amazing venue, the staff are so friendly and thorough when cleaning, it is always spotless. Plenty to do in Sedbergh and surrounding, but if you just want to laze around the house, using the hot tub and taking in the views, that’s good too. Something for everyone We will be back next year !!!!!

Another fantastic stay at Howgills House!

We recently stayed at Howgills House for two nights while holding our team meeting, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The house provided the perfect setting for both work and relaxation. The lounge area, where we conducted our meeting, had a wonderfully relaxed and comfortable atmosphere that encouraged open discussion and collaboration. The accommodation was excellent, with everything we needed for a productive and enjoyable stay. The surroundings were peaceful and inspiring, making it easy to focus during the day and unwind afterwards. Overall, Howgills House was an ideal venue for our team gathering, and we would highly recommend it to any group looking for a welcoming, comfortable, and unique meeting space.

Brilliant stay, will return

We booked this house for our Bride to Be's Hen party, there was lots of space for all 20 guests and could have fit more. We loved the communal areas where we could all fit to relax in the living space or eat in the dining room, it was lovely that it fit us all! The process was nice and easy to book and was updated with everything as it went along which was great! It was lovely and clean, a beautiful location and everything you need right there! We were very happy with everything and would definitely return!

A beautiful stay

Thanks again for your hospitality at Howgills House. 18 of us stayed at the property, the house is clean and beautifully decorated. The views from the house and hot tub were stunning. We got shopping delivered to the house from asda, and used a local bakery and pizzeria for food over the weekend. I would definitely book again for large groups.

Amazing weekend

I booked this celebration cottage for my best friends hen do for 25 people finding a place to host this many people was proving to be difficult and then I came across Howgills house! It was perfect for what we needed and everyone who attended said how lovely the house was and I would definitely recommend it to other large parties again! Thank you for being a part of my best friends special celebrations!

Incredible house with location to match

Great amenities, location, space, and more. The only downside is a lot of the beds are showing wear and tear and mattresses need urgent replacement.

A home away from Home for a Yoga Retreat in the Howgills

Howgills House is a wonderful home from home with great energy and good vibes as soon as you arrive, the location was perfect for our wonderful Yoga and Nutrition Retreat using all rooms of the house and the lounge for Yoga classes, the hot tubs got used daily as well. We had daily walks to the Mill and around the Howgills with a local walk guide and the guests loved their stay so much they want me to organise another one.

Fantastic

Booked Howgills House for a work event for 2 nights. The house was immaculate and very well equipped. The location is fantastic with beautiful views over the countryside, especially from the hot tub. The decor is very tasteful and the communal spaces were flexible and great for a large group. The owners were very helpful and made sure we had a great stay.

Fantastic house and perfect location

Perfect house to accommodate a large group. The house had literally everything we could possibly need (and much more). Spotlessly clean and really spacious. Lovely outside area to relay in the hot tub admiring the wonderful view. Only a short walk from the dales and a the lovely town of Sedbergh. Really was a perfect choice for our work team building stay.

Husband's 50th weekend gathering

Beautiful property and very friendly management team. All services and facilities you could possibly need onsite and help at hand if needed. The hot tub and bar were very special touches. My husband had a wonderful birthday and the whole group loved the house.

Work Trip

Brilliant house for our 3 day work trip. Clear communication from the start of the booking process, very helpful and informative. The house is perfectly equipped for large groups, all the rooms are comfortable and the outside area is great fun with incredible views. We look forward to returning next year!!

Amazing Place!

Couldn’t recommend this house enough – we had an amazing stay! There were just a couple of minor things that stopped it from being absolutely perfect. During our stay, work started on the property, and I don’t recall being informed about this beforehand. It wasn’t a major issue, but it did take away from the scenery a little, especially when relaxing in the hot tubs. It would also be great if guests could use the EV charger at the property. As it’s quite a remote location, the nearby public chargers are slow, so having access to the on-site charger would make things much more convenient. Aside from those small points, everything was excellent. The house was fantastic, and the customer service team were always on hand if we needed anything, responding quickly and efficiently every time. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property to others.

Hen do stay

We had a fantastic stay at Howgills house for my friends hen do. The place was absolutely perfect, it had everything we could have needed and more and was immaculate! Communication with the team was brilliant throughout, from booking to arrival. The owner popped over a couple of times during our stay to make sure everything was okay which was much appreciated. Would 100% stay here again and would recommend it to all friends and family. Thank you Howgills for the best weekend for our friends hen do, all of the hens had an amazing stay :D

Luxury and fun

This was our second year at Howgills House and we have already booked for next year. What can I say, the house is beautiful and luxurious, but what really make it if the wonderful countryside views. Sitting in the hot tub watching the lambs gambling in the adjoining field is wonderful. The staff have thought of everything and it’s the small touches that make it special. We had amazing weather this year, so made good use of the outdoor seating, BBQ, pizza oven and outdoor fridge. For large groups looking for a bit of luxury in the countryside, this place is a must.

Amazing accommodation with friendly owners, perfect for family reunion

Accommodation exceeded expectations. Everything was clean and comfortable and plenty of space for the whole family so we didn't feel we were on top of each other the whole weekend. Hot tubs were the cherry on top of a fantastic property. The only negatives are the size of the bunks, the lower bunks are very low with not a lot of head room and as we are quite a tall family it proved a challenge getting in and out of them. The other was the small kettle, a water boiler or more than one kettle wouldve been more appropriate. But honestly that's just us nit picking what is otherwise a perfect property- already planning our next trip back to Howgills!

Family Holiday

It was an amazing House, Amy and Nigel were great host very accommodating to our needs they have thought of everyone and everything in this beautiful House. Everyone loved the Hot tubs,it was very spacious for all 26 of us inside and the outdoors to the garden and BBQ area We have been recommending it to all our friends and family.Great place to relax.

Beautifully presented, spacious building

A touch of luxury, everything perfect and lots of clever touches. The kitchen is professional standard and has plenty of fridge space. There is a very large common room area with lots of comfortable seating. Bedrooms have high quality bedding and comfy towels, and everyone is also provided with a separate towel for the hot tubs. Outdoors there's lots more weather proof comfortable seating which is where we ate each day - if you fill every bed, the dining room is slightly small. There is a small astro area where children might like to play with a beach ball (bring one rather than a football, since it won't damage the building). There is space for several cars but if you are bringing lots of people you may need to plan where to park - we had two minibuses and a trailer which fitted easily onto the parking space. The house is in the countryside so there it is very quiet - the main thing you can hear is sheep! The owners are very responsive if you have any questions. Wifi works well. All bedrooms are ensuite which is fantastic. No TV in the bedrooms but there is a large TV in the common room. Sedbergh is nearby for shops, and supermarkets are happy to deliver to the property. Be aware of rubbish collection which is Thursday - you need to bring the bins out.
