Summary:
Right across the street from sandy beach! Puako Bay with lots of beach front to walk and play on.
The Space:
This unit is on the ground floor and is accessed from the outside via an open air walkwayĀ minimizing your contact with others.
Our special condo was completely renovated in the summer of 2017 with high quality appliances and fixtures.Ā There are tile floors through out the unit. The kitchen has all new stainless appliances and a large granite counter top/breakfast bar for eating in.Ā Or dine al fresco on the lanai with seating for four. The condo has A/C in the Master bedroom and living room. Also, ceiling fans are located in each room making warmer days a breeze.Ā A reserved parking spot is conveniently located just steps from the unit.
Puako is a quaint, quiet historical community known for its relaxed local beach culture. Puako is a beach community unlike the resort areas on the Kohala Coast, with seven unique beach access points along the two mile stretch of homes.Ā The Puako Condo building is a unique fixture along Puako Beach Drive as there are no other buildings aside from houses, a country store and two churches. The condo is conveniently located next door to the historic and friendly family-owned Puako General Store, where you can buy food, cold drinks, prepared meals, rent DVDs, and more.
Full access of the condo, the pool and the grounds. Conveniently located on the ground floor, close to your assigned parking spot and pool!
The beach is right across the street. Itās perfect for snorkeling and is home to many honu (sea turtles). Wake up for the sunrise over Mauna Kea and see the turtles sunning themselves on the rocks. Just a 200 yard walk from your front door. And, in the same spot, is the best sunset on the island. Itās magical. Puako reef is also recognized as one of the best scuba areas in all of Hawaii. Stand-Up Paddleboards and kayaks are available for rent nearby.
Ocean adventures (whale watching, swim with wild dolphins, and manta ray snorkeling) are available from the Puako Boat Ramp, five minutes (or less) from your door.
Guests can relax at the property pool and indulge in a BBQ grill for a prefect island retreat.
PLEASE NOTE:Ā This unit hasĀ ONEĀ dedicated parking stall. Please consider renting a larger vehicle to accommodate all of your party. There isĀ NOĀ street parking allowed for vacation rentals according to local regulations. A secondary parking stall within the designating building parking lotĀ MAYĀ be an option butĀ cannotĀ be guaranteed for the duration of your stay or designated until shortly before your arrival.Ā IFĀ and as available, the additional parking stall within the designating building parking lot will be assessed an additional, daily fee. Please inquire directly, shortly before your arrival, for further information and potential availability.
Please keep in mind that Guest is in a very small and peaceful residential neighborhood. Noise carries over quiet landscapes and near water. IBR asks that Guest and Guestās children respect Property neighbors' privacy, peace and quiet between 9:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. Please refrain from using the lanais for conversations or viewing devices during quiet hours.

The Neighborhood:
Puako is still the only ocean front residential community along the Gold Coast/Kohala Coast of the Big Island nestled between the Mauna Lani Resort, Fairmont Orchid and Mauna Kea/Hapuna Resorts. Hapuna Beach State Park has earned the reputation of being one of Hawaii Island's finest beaches. It is the largest White Sands Beach on The Big Island and consistently rates on Top Ten lists internationally. Hapuna Beach offers some wonderful opportunities for swimming, bodysurfing, bodyboarding, sunbathing and snorkeling and is just a mile from Puako. You can even drive the back road to Hapuna Beach and not get on the Highway. Local shore fisherman can be seen daily enjoying the great reef fishing. Puako Beach Drive has no through access which keeps it virtually still undiscovered by many.
There are six separate "beach" accesses along this stretch of beach. Although there is not a tremendous amount of sand, there are tide pools and the extensive protected reef is remarkable. During low tide, small pools dot the entire coastline and these pools are filled with small sea life that make excellent areas to explore for all ages. If you enjoy shore diving, kayaking and snorkeling you can find a spot along this stretch of shoreline to enter the water. Offshore the reef is home to a wide variety of fish and many days you will see dolphins playing right from the shore. Enjoy the Whales who return each year to mate and give birth in the tropical warm waters during the winter months.
Getting Around:
A car is recommended for getting around the area and enjoying all that Hawaii Island has on offer.
