The famous Bassenthwaite Ospreys can frequently be seen flying overhead during the season. Swan House is served by the X5 Penrith-Keswick-Cockermouth-Workington bus service with a bus stop outside the door, enabling guests to explore the area without using their car. There is a good choice of pubs and places to eat in the area and good shopping in the historic market towns of Keswick (3 miles) and Cockermouth (7 miles).
