Hola, we are a Northern Irish couple nearing retirement craving a little bit of sunshine and a more relaxed way of life. We fell in love with Competa and the Axarquia region much like a lot of other people through watching various television programmes about a life in the sun and wishing we could make it part of our lives too.
So we decided to do something about it and started to do a lot of research until we found a perfect townhouse right in the centre of the village on the most famously photographed street in Competa with all the beautiful flowers in vibrant pots. The house had been neglected and lay empty for many years and was crying out to be loved and lived in again.
We seen its potential and we had a clear vision of what we wanted, a boutique style whilst retaining some Spanish charm where people from all over the world and nationalities would be able to come and enjoy the relaxed and homely surroundings.
It's a fresh, bright inviting space from the top roof terrace where you can enjoy the most amazing sunsets and sunrises right down to the Moroccan style courtyard on the ground floor that is cool in summer and relaxing with the soothing sounds of the trickling fountain. Just off the courtyard there is another cool space, a cost intimate snug in which to sit at anytime of the day to read a book or have a glass of wine or cup of coffee to unwind in peace and tranquility.
We are delighted with the transformation and decided to call the townhouse 'La Casa Amada' which translates in Spanish to 'The Beloved House', which it certainly is.
We invite our guests to come and stay at the townhouse and enjoy as you would do your own home. We are at your disposal should you need any information on the area such as things to do and places to visit.
The villagers are warm and welcoming and has many residents from all over the world making Competa a truly eclectic wonderful place to spend time with family and friends and perhaps meet some new ones!
