Escape to Otters Holt, nestled in the heart of the popular Lake District town of Ambleside. Enjoy a peaceful retreat for up to four guests in a traditional two-bedroom cosy cottage, well placed to enjoy the picturesque landscapes and country walks of England’s largest national park, straight from your doorstep!



Upon returning from a day of exploration, there is ample space available for storing muddy boots and damp coats in case the weather isn't favourable. Head into the living area, a lovely spacious and bright room full of character with exposed timbers, comfortable sofas, smart TV and Wi-Fi included during your stay. Enjoy a meal around the dining table, and cook up a feast in the modern, fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher and underfloor heating.



Otters Holt can sleep up to four across two well-presented bedrooms; one double bedroom and a second twin room with family bathroom.



With numerous nearby attractions to explore, ensuring you have plenty of activities to enjoy, you can embark on a boat journey on Windermere Lake or take a brief stroll from the town center of Ambleside to reach Stock Ghyll Force, an impressive 70-foot waterfall.



Parking is included to the side of the cottage for up to one vehicle.

Comfortable small family house in a superb location

Otter's Holt is a comfortable, stone-built small family house right in the heart of Ambleside. The location is superb: within two minutes walk you have two supermarkets, two pubs, a bookshop, two cinemas, two EV recharging points, a tapas bar, a fish-and-chip shop, and any number of cafes and outdoor equipment retailers. And since it's Ambleside there are numerous walks without getting in the car: a nice selection of recommendations pinned up in the kitchen,the Fairfield Horseshoe for the headbangers. Wifi, TV, shower and coffee machine all work very nicely. A great place to stay.

Cosy and clean. Location was excellent. In the middle of town but down a small road so no noise. The floor on the second floor is slanted which was strange but didn’t cause a problem.

Great position in the centre of Ambleside

Great position in the centre of Ambleside, warm and cosy downstairs, the door was a challenge to unlock oncetwice as I think mentioned by a previous review but never stopped us getting in. Books and games available, TV, clean and welcoming. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Many thanks.

We had a wonderful week, cycling, hiking, eating out & in, relaxing in the sun, loved every minut

The house was perfect for my son & I, perfect size, very cozy and comfortable & with its own parking. Very close to everything Ambleside offers but in a quiet street. Somewhere to sit outside would be nice, but to be honest, the park was only a few minutes walk & also Windermere itself isn’t far to walk either, with plenty of areas to sit in the sun.

Great break in lovely Ambleside.

Very convenient location in the town. Great that it has a parking space. The net curtains made it look unappealing from the outside. Maybe need replacing with something brighter. The uneven floor upstairs was weird!

Everything you need is there and more. The property has a lovely home feeling and we couldn't have asked for anything else. The rain which even though the owners had ensured we had everything rain cant be prevented.

Absolutely loved the central quiet location ideally situated 2 mins from Main Street,comfy bed,clean.spacious .Useful w machine too .Nice size bathroom too . Nothing :we didn’t like .Everything was perfect.Spent 3 nights here whilst storm darragh hit ,.so a welcome teabag ,coffee sachet I think would be a useful extra on arrival and maybe a Xmas decoration .Will Definatly book again .Thanks

A beautiful cottage in a great location.

We loved Otters Holt and felt comfortable and at home there. It was a great base for exploring the area and the parking space was especially helpful. We found the front door a bit hard to open and the lounge door. May need lubricant or new lock barrel. One bedside light not working.

I had the most perfect at Otters Holt!

I had the most perfect at Otters Holt! The cottage was just described and what I had looking for as a cosy December pre- Christmas get away... extra touches there being a Christmas tree and decorations up to make you at home and a bit festive. I knew that some of Ambleside would be closed for the season, but still plenty to do in the area and some stunning walks straight from the cottages front door! I couldn't recommend the areacottage more! Also, Lucy's on a Plate (at the end of the road) had been recommended by two friends prior to going, and it was fabulous!

Lovely cottage in a brilliant location.

Location was excellent, having parking in the town centre was brilliant. Clean, warm and comfortable. Everything you would need. Draining board didn't drain. Wardrobe door in main bedroom is a bit tricky. Shower should do with a warning on not to turn it passed number 2, the water is scalding hot. A few light bulbs out. But that&#39s being really picky.

Cosy

Cosy. Heating worked well. Handy for shops, parking for one car very useful. Quiet location despite being in centre, on a nice quiet back street. Washing machine useful. Over all very pleased with our stay . Only I small bath towel each and one handtowel in bathroom. Would have liked a hand towel extra for drying hair and one extra for using in kitchen. No instructions for recycling so had to put it all in bin I&#39m afraid. If no dog staying maybe don&#39t leave dog bed in the bedroom, I don&#39t really like to think of dogs sleeping in there, as a non dog owner!

Nice stay!

Loved having a parking space - such a bonus!! Very central and quiet location. Blinds need attention or replacement. Water gathering between bath and toilet. Looked more spacious with sofa positioned as in photos. Grill pan had remnants of toast on it on arrival and sticky jammy stuff on grill pan handle. Urine stain on duvet so needs addressing if expected to strip the bedding. Cleaner came half an hour early wanting our parking space so think my dog’s food for return journey got left behind!
