Californian modernism meets the blue Ionian Sea.

Enveloped by a leafy cocoon of vibrant Corfiot greenery, Hanassa is wonderfully secluded and yet just a 5-minute walk from Gialiskari beach and the tavernas, bays and buzz of Agni and Kalami. Its wonderfully simple layout, its contemporary style, and its alluring infinity pool all combine to create an extremely liveable and harmonious atmosphere in which to unwind, relax and re-energise.

Inside: accommodation at Hanassa is all on one floor.

In terms of design, the property has been inspired by Californian modernism's love of simplicity and connection to the surrounding landscape: glass walls slide open to unify the interiors and the exteriors; a vibrant green canopy frames and secludes the property; a cantilevered extension of the roof provides shade; and a well-chosen range of materials echoes Mother Nature's palette.

Hanassa is essentially divided into two parts. The first is an open-concept communal space with three distinct zones. To one side is a large grey L-shaped sofa and a wall of bespoke wooden shelving and cupboards flanking a central fireplace. To the other is a wooden dining table surrounded by designer chairs in charcoal grey. Extending behind both of these areas is the sleek, slate grey contemporary kitchen, which features a large, convivial island. Lighting is a subtle mix of multi-directional black spots and downlights set into the ceiling.

The second part of Hanassa is the bedroom wing, which is accessed via a door near the kitchen. Connected by a corridor, there are four sea-view bedrooms:

• three doubles, each with its own en-suite shower room and wall of sliding glass doors opening out onto the terrace running along the front of the property
• the principal bedroom, also a double, with an en-suite bathroom with tub and separate shower. This, too, features a wall of sliding glass doors opening out onto the terrace

Outside: al fresco life at Hanassa revolves around a sea-facing terrace that runs along the entire façade of the property. Accessed from the communal living area and all four bedrooms, and shaded by a cantilevered extension of the roof, this space is equipped and furnished for all eventualities, from lounging and sunbathing, to sipping on an aperitif, dining and cooking (thanks to the presence of a barbecue area).

Swimmers will delight in the fabulous infinity pool, which appears to be suspended in a verdant canopy.

Glass balustrades run along the edge of the terrace, ensuring that the sweeping green and blue views, which take in Gialiskari beach, Kalami Bay, the northeastern coast of Corfu, and mountainous Albania across the waters of the Ionian, are undisturbed.

Hanassa features a fantastic infinity pool, offering swimmers stunning views while in the pool. There is a drop off the infinity side so we recommend children are supervised at all times. Please refer to our general safety page if you would like more information about infinity pools.

Due to the nature of the property, which includes terraces, low walls and several drops around the grounds, children must be supervised at all times.

Although this property is located within walking distance of some shops and restaurants, we strongly recommend that you hire a car.

Please note that due to the risk of wildfires, the use of fire pits and barbecues is restricted when the weather is windy or temperatures are high. This is particularly common in July and August. More information will be provided in your House Guide and via your local specialist.
Hanassa rises in a panoramic position on the verdant coastline above the inviting beach of Galiskari, whose limpid waters and chic beach club-café is just a few minutes' walk away.

Agni beach, with its trio of tavernas, is a 10-to-15-minute walk away along a coastal path (a bit narrow, rocky and undulating and not lit at night). Kalami Bay, which is home to a couple of well-stocked minimarkets, a few tavernas and bars, a pebbly beach, and boat hire suppliers, is a 20minute walk. On the bay's southern edge is the famous White House, once the residence of the writer Lawrence Durrell, now a seafront restaurant and bar where you can sit and imagine James Bond stopping in for a Vodka Martini (parts of For Your Eyes Only were filmed there).

There are numerous other beaches with tavernas nearby, including those at Nissaki and Agios Stefanos. For a larger selection of bars, tavernas and shops (or for a spot of nightlife) bustling Kassiopi is just a 15-minute drive away.

Heading south, meanwhile, charming Corfu Town with its fortifications and the historic labyrinth of streets is about 50 minutes' drive and well worth spending a day or two exploring.
