The Oceanview: Private Gated Compound with Views

Our private, rambling, historic Santa Cruz compound from the 1890`s has been completely updated, yet retains its quirky, unique charm. With sweeping views, an expansive deck and a modern chef`s kicthen, our home is perfect for families and friends to gather and enjoy a relaxing get-away. Surf, hike, bike, skate, cook fabulous meals, drink cocktails on the deck, visit our bee hives or walk to the beach, boardwalk or downtown. All the best local amenities are right outside the gate...



The 2,500 sq. feet, light filled space is divided into 2 floors:



Downstairs: You will find brand new, updated cook`s kitchen with a Sub Zero fridge, 2 dishwashers, 3 sinks and a Wolf six burner range with griddle top. The kitchen is fully equipped for all your cooking needs. The dining room opens out onto an expansive deck overlooking Santa Cruz, the Boardwalk and the ocean beyond. A moroccan tiled bathroom with soaking tub is located just off the kitchen where you can hang your beach towels and rinse your feet. The large, bright and open living space is perfect for enjoying with friends and family. The downstairs also features a library room filled with books, games and kid`s art supplies.



Upstairs:

Bedroom #1 features a queen size bed, small writing desk and large closet.



Bedroom #2 has a full bed, a dresser and a large closet. An additional twin mattress is located under bed.

Bedroom #1 and #2 share a small bathroom with a designer tiled shower.



Bedroom #3 is the Master bedroom with queen bed, built in closet and ensuite bathroom and a private deck.



Bedroom #4 also has a queen bed, built-in closet, ensuite bathroom and outstanding view.



Only the main house is accessible to guests.

*Please note that there is a caretaker who lives on the premises across from the main house.

The house is situated on an acre of land on a quiet street. A nearby park leads to the beach and boardwalk—a 10-minute walk away. Stroll into Downtown Santa Cruz, and to shops, groceries, and pharmacies.



Walk, ride, surf, bike, swim or drive your way around Santa Cruz! There`s so much to see and do. Guest manual and local activity guides are provided on site.



The house is both Wifi and Sonos enabled. Please read guest manual for house use instructions.

2nd time around

We stayed at this property last year with our adult married children and grandchildren and made a return trip this summer. Our grandkids enjoy the boardwalk and it is a treat for us to tag along. The common space: living room, kitchen and deck are a generous size and give us plenty of breathing room for hanging out together. The location is ideal to walk to local cafes, bakeries and stores plus an easy walk down the street thru the park to the Boardwalk. The much loved decor and furnishing are worn but interesting and well thought out. We wouldn't hesitate to come back again next summer.

Beautiful Santa Cruz sanctuary

The property, house and amenities were exactly as described and impeccable. It was a beautiful place to relax on the deck and enjoy the weather, the views and the sounds of the boardwalk. Extremely comfortable in every way. I would stay again!

Family wedding

Spacious property on a large gated lot

The upstairs bed and bathroom layout was generous and the beds and bedding comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with kitchen gadgets and pots and pans. The decor and furnishing were worn but eclectic and interesting with plenty of room for everyone to lounge. Clearly this was a beloved family home that has transition to a very pleasant rental property.

Spectacular!

The Oceanview house is absolutely magical! As soon as you walk through the door, it’s clear that every single detail of this home was thoughtfully planned and perfectly executed. The house itself oozes character and charm and has been tastefully restored to include all the modern amenities one could want. The back deck is the perfect place for a cozy outdoor dinner or a relaxing glass of wine. The kitchen… where do I even begin? The kitchen is absolutely magnificent! A chef’s dream, fully equipped with everything you could ever need to host an extravagant dinner party or make a quick meal for your kids. Whoever designed this kitchen (the whole house really) has impeccable taste! The grounds are beautiful. The view is awesome and you can’t beat the location! There is a wonderful park right at the end of the street with an epic playground for the kids! We booked this home as a place to host our small, intimate wedding celebration. Finding a vacation rental that would allow a small event was difficult to say the least, but we are so very grateful that we found The Oceanview! The owners and the property manager were wonderful to work with. The communication was excellent and their organization and attention to detail was exceptional. We can’t wait to visit this beautiful home again!

Beautiful home with so many nice touches

This beautiful home has so many nice touches, it shows the owners are thinking of the guests in a thoughtful way. In the kitchen, we found besides for the Wolf stove, an espresso machine, oyster shuckers, plenty of counter space, actual soup bowls you can use for noodle soup, and so many other fun and useful amenities. We found out there is no microwave, but we were flexible and we warmed croissants in the warming oven and oatmeal on the stovetop. The kids loved playing in the treehouse, watching the busy bees flying to and from the bee hives, walking to the Boardwalk, learning how to use the high efficiency fireplace, and roasting s'mores over an open fire. Lovely and fun home.

Graduation Celebration

Our family had the most memorable experience, staying at Upper Seabright, while celebrating my son's graduation from UCSC. It was a perfect house for the whole group, the beds were so soft, the kitchen had everything we needed, the porch was an epic venue for a celebratory dinner/BBQ. We could not have asked for more. I'm only disappointed that we found this perfect VRBO on the last day of my son's UCSC experience. I would have booked it every year. Thank you.

Beautiful property with a lush backyard

We had a great vacation and couldn't have been happier with the home and location. Walking distance to the boardwalk and close to the beach. All the details of the decor and design were outstanding. And loved the great kitchen that opened up to the deck. This house was great for 2 families and we will definitely be coming back again soon!

The moment we entered the iron gates we were delighted at how stately yet welcoming the house was. Inside we were greeted by sunlit and generous rooms, only to be tempted by a well appointed chefs kitchen then lured away by a sprawling porch with views of sea, town and an amusement park in the distance. Our favorite discovery were the mid century designer pieces that created classic nooks throughout the living and bedrooms. The house provided grand style with all creature comforts.

BEAUTIFUL grand historical house, fab remodel and decor, great location

This is one of the nicest rental homes we've ever stayed in. The pics do it justice but don't at the same time, because it's even more put-together than it appears on the listing. It was sparkling clean when we arrived and the kitchen stocked well enough for us to make Thanksgiving dinner. We walked or drove to Seabright Beach every day - perfect. We hope to stay here again!

Perfection!

We stayed at Camille's beautiful home for a weekend with friends for a small celebration and I could not imagine a more magical place to stay! Every detail of the house is well thought out, the overall aesthetic is stunning, and the huge kitchen managed 8 very busy adults remarkably. Joanna, the property manager, was helpful and responsive throughout the weekend, but honestly, we were never in need of anything. We were also lucky to get perfect weather and really enjoyed the outdoor spaces on the deck and backyard. We're already considering an annual retreat since it was such a perfect stay.

Renting this property was lovely! The grounds are incredible. The home is huge, eclectic, and well updated. All the designer touches from the tile work to the wallpaper were so unique and beautiful. Camille was easy to work with and always quick to respond . Would love to visit again.

Beautiful home in Santa Cruz

We have a wonderful time in Santa Cruz. This was my first time to town and I’ll be back. I loved the home it was beautiful and very handsomely appointed! Not sure about the walk ability to locations but nonetheless a great place. It was a little strange having the groundskeeper there the whole time. The kitchen was amazing and the deck was awesome!

Family stay at the beach house

Every year our family does a beach weekend get away. We choose the ocean view home this year . It was great. There was plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen was perfect. The two dishwashers worked out great . The location was perfect. We also enjoyed the outside fireplace. It was great for s’mores. The deck was gorgeous and a great place to hang out. We will be back it was great.

Perfect family escape!

We picked this beautiful home for a getaway with our 3 grandchildren. The 2 grandsons loved the bunk beds . Our granddaughter was over joyed to have a room and bath to herself. She really enjoyed hearing the sounds of the Boardwalk from that rooms windows. The master bed and bath were wonderful, enjoyed the spacious shower. All of us enjoyed the beautiful kitchen, expansive deck and the large well kept yard. Would love to stay there again, it’s a very welcoming home. The grandkids can’t wait to go back. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home, you have wonderful taste.
