Relax at Our River Retreat

Come to the Northwoods and enjoy the Lake George area. Relax in this secluded 4 bedroom, 2 bath sprawling ranch. Marvel at the beauty of nature with river views from the front deck or get up close and personal on the private dock. Canoes and paddle boat provided to our guests as a courtesy. At night make s'mores and share stories at the campfire. This vacation spot is sure to create cherished, life-long memories. Conveniently located minutes from the Northway and even more convenient is the general store - Crossroads - being literally "over the hill".

You can relax and let the stress melt away on the private, wooded property. Or if exploration and adventure is in your blood, a 20-minute drive will bring you to Natural Stone Bridges & Caves, Adirondack Extreme, whitewater rafting, Lake George Village, Bolton Landing, Schroon Lake and countless other fun spots. If hiking is your thing, then the Chester Challenge is a must do.

Firewood bundles are $7 per basket or $15 per leveled u-shaped holder. We do employ the use of exterior security cameras to monitor the well being of our property. Our guests privacy is very important to us as well as the security of our property. If a guest would like a screenshot of the cameras view, I would be happy to send one. Great house, great location!

Lovely house located directly on the Schroon RIver. Very comfortable and clean, well equipped kitchen, large dining room, canoes and a kayak. We'll be coming back!

Only disappointment is something the owner cant control...the weather. Place was great. Definitely recommend and would go back.

The Great Escape

Our family had a great time here. So much to enjoy on the property and the surrounding area. The property was clean and spacious, and every effort was made to make it welcoming. Would definitely recommend to others. Hated to leave.

Beautiful home surrounded by nature

Great location. Owner always quick to respond to questions. We brought our kayaks and had plenty of places to go. Close to North Creek where we did the Revolution Rail and North Creek whitewater rafting co. Highly recommend both.

River Retreat

It was perfect for our group which included two people with mobility problems. Not handicapped accessible, per se, but manageable. Host was very helpful throughout our stay and we’d welcome the chance to stay there again in the future!

River Retreat is a must stay!

Dan from the very beginning was so helpful and informative. The pictures do not do the house justice. It is much bigger in person! It was very clean when we arrived and the property is awesome! We had such a great time while we were there. We want to plan another trip there!

Exceeded expectations

Everything about this property was excellent. Beautiful home, outstanding host, great property Couldn’t ask for anything more for family vacation Easy access to river with kayak and canoe. All appliances in perfect condition. Comfortable beds and plenty of space for clothing. Spotlessly clean. Within 30 minutes to tourist attractions in nearby towns.

Restful ADK getaway

Great location,(private lot on the river, 20 min drive to Lake George) very clean and comfortable cottage. Dan,the owner, was easily accesible for any questions. 4 good size ,well- decorated bedrooms-the 3 we stayed in all had comfortable sleep number beds. We enjoyed hanging out on the dock,fishing and kayaking on the River. The weather was 90+ during our stay having A/C in the cottage was awesome.

I can't take credit for the decorating, my sisters and Mom handle that department very well. The guys keep the mechanicals working and the girls keep it looking great!

Great Place!!

What can I say? This out-of-the-way place was absolutely spectacular… Close to the river for some nice fishing and relaxation and a fire pit and deck that we thoroughly enjoyed every single night… The house was clean, plenty of room and was the ideal spot for our Schroon lake vacation. Dan was very responsive and always available to answer questions about anything to do with the house. Its location was right off the highway and there was a fantastic little Crossroads deli that had a little bit of everything. We would definitely rent this house again!

Very nice home with an attentive owner.

We stayed in the home for a week. We were very impressed with the overall condition, amenities and general layout. The property is tucked away in a very nice setting in the woods that’s not to far away from town/supplies. It is also situated on a river with a dock and small boats available for use.The owner was very helpful and accommodating. We heartily recommend this property to anyone who wants to enjoy a trouble free vacation in a well equipped family home.

Peaceful Retreat

Everything we needed was on premises, owners accommodating and always available if you need anything. The pictures do not to this place justice. The river was amazing, peaceful and secluded. The upgraded firepit was very nice with cheap large bundles of firewood. Beds were very comfortable, everything was neat and clean. Central air was handy on our first day. Boats, tubes, games...I could go on and on. Our new favorite place to be.

Annual Girls Getaway

Very nice home in a lovely setting. We really enjoyed the firepit and used it all but one night. The house was clean and well stocked, and well taken care of. The sleep number beds are very comfortable. Dan checked in on us the next morning after check in just to see how we were doing. He was also very prompt to answer any questions we had. It is conveniently located and not far from many attractions. Hardly any mosquitoes so we could sit out on the deck and enjoy the beautiful weather. Would recommend this property.

Beautiful Home, Great Amenities, Excellent Communication

My family and I really enjoyed our stay and the house was perfect. I really like how well thought out the grounds were. The home had a very secluded feel but was only a short trail hike to the Crossroads general store. The supermarket was also only a 5 minute drive away, which isn't always the case. We also appreciated the canoes and supplies available. Dan was a great communicator made sure we had what we neededat each phase of our stay. You can tell the Schick family has a lot of memories in this house and take good care of it. It's not a rental-only home.

5 stars as always!

We have made this our vacation home! This is our second year staying, next year some of our group has already booked and we are booking again the year after. Beautiful view on the river, perfect for easy, smooth kayaking. Lots of wildlife friends come to visit, lots of amenities inside and outside the house! New dock this year for swimming or just viewing the morning wildlife, perfect firepit for cozy nights by the fire. The upgrades inside the house this year made it even more gorgeous and Dan is so easy to work with! We love this place and every time we bring people they end up wanting to stay another week! A lot to do in the area, this time we did a private 4 hour bout cruise with tubing on Lake George, hiked the Natural stone bridge and caves, and took a scenic drive to lake placid, Kayaked a few places and went river tubing. All highly recommended we had a blast!

We had a wonderful stay. The house was clean, well appointed and comfortable and the property is beautiful. We loved having the kayak and canoes to explore the river. Chestertown is convenient for exploring the surrounding areas of Lake George Village, Bolton Landing and Schroon Lake. Loved the Friday food truck event at Brant Lake, Crossroads for ice cream, the local farmers markets, hiking that was close by, Two Sparrows Coffee and thrift shopping in the rain. We would definitely rent again.

We had a family of 10 with 6 adults and 4 young children. The house layout with sleeping arrangements was fantastic. The yard and drive way was great for the kids to play yet it was far enough away from the water so we were not worried. The extras with the canoe and boat made fishing a lot of fun. Inside the kitchen the family was happy to find many conveniences like the hot water, large coffee cups, and the washer and dryer to name a few. To end the day with nice camp fire made each day memorable. We would recommend this location to anyone looking for a quiet spot but still close enough to the lakes.
