Looking to get away from the fast paced life? This cozy 2-story, 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath, rustic log cabin, sits on 4 acres tucked against the hills just outside Indiana's Hoosier National Forest in the Ohio River Valley. Relax on the deck or watch the fire dance in the outdoor fire pit. Calm, tranquil, SERENITY!

Our cabin sits right outside the Hoosier National Forest which offers 84 miles of hiking trails with 50 miles of them open to horses. From the cabin you are less than a 10 minute walk from the Mogan Ridge East trail head and a short drive to many others.

If you enjoy fishing and boating, you are 5 minutes from the Derby Boat Ramp giving you easy access to the Ohio River. The most common fish caught are bluegill, redear, bass, and catfish.

There is a small park located in Derby just a few minutes down the road. There are basketball courts, swings, slides, a shelter house, and a beautiful view for the parents while watching the children play.

Enjoyed hiking, beautiful cabin

Very nice cabin with well-equipped kitchen. A few other cabins in the vicinity and a convenience store nearby. Other than that, nature. We enjoyed hiking, the hot tub, and the whirlpool bath. There is no WiFi but a collection of DVDs and even VHS, but we didnā€™t get around to watching any. Lots of games as well.

The cabin was beautiful and comfortable to stay in. We wish, that for the price, there was wifi available. We were told upon booking that local channels were available but found out during our stay that they were not. Also, the firewood that was provided was sections of tree logs that were not split into firewood and were difficult to handle and light. If we hadnā€™t scavenged for smaller branches in the woods we would not have had a camp fire at all. If you plan to use the fire pit, would highly advise bringing firewood with you.Outside of those things, we enjoyed our stay and would consider staying again.

I had an amazing retreat at the Derby Serenity! It was a perfect place for me to enjoy an ā€œArtist Getaway.ā€ I brought a drop cloth, easel and canvas and reconnected with my inner creative self. Not only was it peaceful, but it was immaculate! Iā€™ve never stayed anywhere that was this clean! It was such a relief after several ā€œnot so cleanā€ experiences at other rentals. The cabin was well stocked - great cook and table ware. Lots of games and movies. The hot tub was WONDERFUL. I especially liked, that although rural, I didnā€™t feel completely isolated. Perfect getaway if you want to disconnect from the outside. Iā€™ll definitely refer and revisit! Thank you!

My stepfather, Greg Etienne, was very well known in the Southern Indiana community. A logger by day and a coon hunter by night and a friend to everyone. While logging, Greg would come across old barns that had these hand hued logs as their structure. Some of these logs date back to the 1800s. He would carefully dismantle them, transport them, and reconstruct them into the cabins you see around the Derby area today. The popularity of these cabins quickly became a family hobby. Our family built many cabins and two of them can be seen from the front deck of this one. Since then, Greg has passed due to a tumor he developed in his brain. 16 years after we built this cabin and many changes in ownership, my fianceeā€™ and I had the opportunity to purchase it in November 2017. Needless to say there is a lot of sentimental value and pride that comes with it. We frequently stay, but also rent it out to share the beauty, tranquility, and dreams of my stepfather with everyone that is looking for some rest and relaxation. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
