Welcome to your private 2 bedroom that is steps to the beach, in a cute, safe, and quiet neighborhood! Completely remodeled, separate and private lower level of the house. Tall ceilings, big windows, luxury linens, HVAC system, Wi-Fi, new mattresses, pots/pans, patio, grill, two bikes, etc.

The Salt Water Retreat is a first floor 2 bedroom 1 bath duplex that is located three blocks from the seawall in a great neighborhood. We completely remodeled this house but kept the charm of the 1900 house intact, just modernized.
We keep our rates really low but will ask about yourself and your visit. We love this house and we maintain it and clean it as it is near and dear to our hearts. We want guests that will treat it with the respect it deserves.

BEDS:
1st Bedroom: 1 queen bed.
2nd Bedroom: 2 twins

The SWH has a beautiful queen bedroom with a new pillow-top mattress and hotel quality sheets. The seaside room has two new cherry sleigh beds with new mattresses and luxury bedding.

BATH:
The bathroom is gorgeous and has a large shower with a rain head fixture that is set high for our taller guests. There is a cute window located above the shower to let in natural light. The towels are luxury hotel grade.

KITCHEN:
The kitchen is one of my favorite rooms with generous counter space and a full sink, oven and fridge; it's color scheme is bright and airy and the granite counters and tile floor are easy to care for. There is a long breakfast bar, a pretty chandelier and half shutters to let in the natural light.

LIVING ROOM/DINING SPACE:
The living room has a new sofa and three new chairs. We have a 55" inch flatscreen tv in the living room with Apple TV (streaming netflix and hulu). There is a small patio area upon entering the house that you can use; it has a table and several chairs with many plants and flowers.

There is parking for two cars on the street. For our guests comfort and because there are already dogs on the property we do not allow any pets in this rental.

A wonderful alternative to a hotel with all the luxuries of home.

This property was just three blocks from the Seawall! We used the bikes that were furnished to cruise to brunch and ride down the Seawall to our favorite spots. It was clean and fully stocked with enough to cook any meal and enjoy coffee in the morning. The beds were comfortable, check in was a breeze, and the hosts were easy to contact. I will definitely rent this gem again.

Great little place close to the beach

My wife and I spent six days in Galveston looking at real estate and this was our base camp. We thought it was surprisingly nice inside. The exterior isnā€™t much but that didnā€™t affect our enjoyment. Iā€™d stay again for sure.

Review for Our Stay (Feb 15-17, 2025) ā€“ 3.5 to 4 StarsOur stay at this Galveston VRBO was overall pleasant. The home is clean, small, and comfortableā€”perfect for a short getaway. Itā€™s conveniently located between The Strand/downtown area and the Seawall, making it easy to explore the main attractions. The hosts were responsive, promptly assisting with a minor issue we had with the electronic lock.That said, a few things could have made the stay more enjoyable. There was no coffee service or even basic additions like sugar or creamer, which was a bit disappointing since coffee is a must for us. Additionally, while the location is great for sightseeing, itā€™s not the most convenient for grocery shopping, though thatā€™s more of a location factor than a fault of the rental itself. The house has all the essentials, but no real extras or ā€œfrills.ā€ There is no area outdoors to enjoy. The extension cords out of the windows of the kitchen was a bit odd. All in all, itā€™s a solid choice for a simple and convenient stay in Galveston. A few small touchesā€”like a basic coffee setup and outdoor seating area would go a long way in enhancing the guest experience.

Get away with vacation friends

This property was very welcoming the check in process was great, we walked to the steakhouse for dinner and the beach is in walking distance the house was beautiful clean and plenty of room to relax I highly recommend this property!

Beautiful Property

Fantastic place to stay for a weekend trip to Galveston. A couple of blocks from the seawall, close to the strand, quiet area yet close to a lot of activities. As for the unit itself- beautiful two bedroom/one bath in immaculate condition.

Enjoyable Stay

Home was clean and spacious. Great neighborhood, close to the beach and popular tourist sites. Only concern was visiting family were not able to come into the home. Understandable due to insurance purposes but was disappointing since the point if our vacation was to spend more family time together. Would have been helpful to know this fact in advance. Owners were pleasant and cordial.

This apartment is lovely! We came to down to shop and eat, and the apartment was perfectly located to everything we wanted to do! The layout was great - the tall ceilings and original architecture were stunning! The decor was great too! Oh and the shower - one of the best! Will be back!

Romantic weekend getaway

My husband and I stayed in Galveston without the kids. It was cozy and beautiful. Quiet neighborhood. The house was clean, smelled great and the beds were comfortable. I highly recommend this house.

Relaxing Family Vacation

Clean, relaxing, and enough room for my family of 4. Loved being right down from the water and entertainment. Also loved having a furnished kitchen!!! I didnā€™t have to pack any cooking pans/utensils/plates. Great stay!!! Thank you Chris and Ruth.
