Stay at the "SILLY OL' BEAR" cabin and enjoy a day at Yosemite or Bass Lake

Venture into our version of the 100 acre wood & Winnie the Pooh along with all his friends. Rediscover the joys of family life, the value of friendship and to appreciate the simple pleasures in life. Our cabin sits on a fully enclosed yard of just under 1 acre surrounded by large white oak trees. Enjoy a day hiking at Yosemite or swimming at the lake, then return to a relaxing evening BBQing, playing games, or star gazing in the backyard. Our 3 bedroom 2 bathroom cabin was built in 1959 which give it alot of "woodsy" character. There has been modern updates but still does retain the feel of old fashion cabin living. Located less than 3 miles above the center of Oakhurst, 4.5 to Bass lake Forks Resort and 18 mile to the south gate Yosemite entrance. There will be plenty to do during your stay. We look forward to sharing our place with you, where you can make memories to last a lifetime.

This was by far one of the best vacation rentals we have stayed at. It is cute and cozy and had most of the things I needed to make meals in the kitchen. Yosemite Valley is about 1.5 hours away and Bass Lake about 10 minutes. We did both during our stay. To seek respite from the heat we stayed home and played games that the host provided. The antique record player was a nice touch as well. She has records from the 50s through the 80s. Brought back childhood memories. The host is excellent! Eager to please, responsive and generous with our requests. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay, Tamara! You’re the best!

We had a great stay. It had everything we need and more. Tamara was very communicative and friendly. For the town was in the woods but we felt safe and it was so clean. Very recommend for families.

Great stay!

This is a great location for family. Not too far from the fish camp snow park with a big backyard. It is decorated really cute and homey. We woke up to snow this morning! This is our second time staying here. The owners are really nice and accommodating. We recommend.

Beautiful property in a beautiful area

Perfect for our party of 4 but 6 would have been fine with the two twin beds in the 3rd bedroom. Our only complaints were the slow drain in bath 1 and the squeaky but comfy beds. Please fix those because we cannot wait to stay there again. Very nice!

Yosemite Waterfalls for Mother's Day

Great location. Would've been 1 1/2 to park if the lines hadn't been so long! House was just what we expected. TV is all streamed so no local news, etc... Saw a couple of deer and a wild turkey.

Great find!

The house is really nice. It's not too far from Yosemite. 10m drive to Bass lake. Very nice back porch with a screen that you can close if the bugs are out. We saw deer in the area. Our last morning there were about 5 turkeys that flew into the backyard. Overall it's a really nice place to stay.

Tamara is very thoughtful and made the cabin with warm touching from inside-out. We loved the greetings from the adorable forest creatures in the yard as well as the BEARS in the house. Tamara accommodated us with earlier check-in and called us to confirm that we had everything we needed (the house is very well equipped). It has all for us to relax after exploring the Yosemite. On the 3rd day of our stay, we listened the PH records (John Denver, Pavarotti, Paul Anka and more) while watching the rain outside of the window, which brought a lot of good memories back. We are very grateful to be given the chance to stay in "SILLY OL' BEAR" cabin and will for sure be back to if visiting the Yosemite again.

Perfect place!

Not fancy, but everything you need. 3 bedrooms and one bedroom has 2 twin beds in it. So 4 beds! Wow! Kitchen was well stocked with everything needed to cook a meal for 4. Washer and dryer was helpful too. Property close to grocery stores, gas, and fast food options. Only 30-45 minutes to Yosemite gate on hwy 41. Wonderful option!!

Great stay

This is a truly home away from home. Nice secure big yard and close proximity to the restaurants, grocery stores and everything you need. We stayed there first weekend when Tioga pass was open and left early enough to be at the park by 6 am. Cooler was able to keep up with a 100+ degrees weather. The day of checkout, unfortunately, we lost power, but while it was triple digits and we were there - it was great! Host was very easy to reach and answered all my questions - this was very helpful and we felt like we knew everything before we even arrived! We will be back. :)

Nice Location and Clean

The house is in a good location and was clean but very outdated. The beds were very uncomfortable and the shower heads were terrible. We only stayed one night and didn’t use the kitchen so I don’t know how that was. We barely were in the house because we came for a wedding so just showered and slept but not well because the beds were so uncomfortable. It was clean and location was ok.

Sorry to read our place did not meet your expectations. We do advertise as being built in the 60’s. I do try my best to accommodate everyone but there are so many personal preferences. Thank you for your review

Highly recommended

Chris and Tamara are excellent hosts! We had such a nice and memorable time at their lovely home. Their home is conveniently located near the lake and stores. We loved the cute decorations outside and inside of their home. We enjoyed the wide selection of movies and enjoyed some hot cocoa during the evenings. Their home was well-stocked with snacks, breakfast foods, drinks, cooking ingredients, and more. We absolutely loved the front and backyard. We ran around in the backyard quite a bit everyday and already miss the huge space. We baked muffins one day and cooked a lot using some of their cooking/baking pans and ingredients. It was such a great experience, and we will definitely reach out for another stay the next time we are in the area. We highly recommend staying at their home.

A cute, spacious, Winnie the poo themed home with a log cabin smell and feel. It is spacious, homey, and clean, with plenty of amenities. They even left us some snacks. The back yard is really nice, but you need mosquito repellent if you want to sit out there starting late afternoon. I slept in one of the twin beds which was unfortunately not the most comfortable. The pillows were either flat or lumpy, and one of the beds squeaked so much that when the person in it moved, it woke the other one up. The bedrooms also get hot at night if you sleep with the windows closed. There is a cooling fan in the hallway ceiling, but you need to have the doors and the windows open while using it and it’s noisy, so not the best for sleeping. The location feels nice and remote but is close to groceries and restaurants in town. It’s about 30 min to the south entrance of Yosemite, and once you’re inside the park most of the trails take at least another hour to get to, so plan accordingly. Make sure you have your gps set to allow tolls (there aren’t any but Google Maps thinks there are) or it will take you the long way around.

Very pleasant, rustic feeling, and convenient to the park and town. Beautiful view, quiet surroundings. Host was very friendly and available with quick responses. I would stay again.

Overall good but missing a few items

Overall good but missing a few items like a Tea kettle and a normal coffee pot. There was only a Keurig with horrible maxwell house pods so if you actually care about coffee and you brought your own good coffee there was no way to make it without getting super creative. Fortunately we had brought a strainer so we sort of made our own French press and were able to strain through different pots but it was pretty silly. Kitchen supplies a little skimpy generally but overall the rest of the house was lovely we were very comfortable the outdoor furniture was great it was nice and cool

Cozy house with a big yard!

The house was great, there was plenty of room for my family of 4 and a quick drive up to Yosemite. Great location, cozy house, beautiful big backyard. It was a great place for our weekend getaway.

Family trip to the snow

Had a great stay here at silly ol bear, honestly I didn't really need to take anything besides food since everything was there. I celebrated my daughters 2nd birthday here and it was nice and we went to the snow. Tamara had let us barrow her snow sleds after we checked out which was very nice of her. The back yard is huge my two children loved it so much! There were toys for the kids to play with, my daughter loved that and also loved the little stuffed animals that were on the bed in the kids room. Over all our stay here at silly ol bear was great! Our family spent almost every summer vacationing at Bass Lake. Camping, learning to ski and swimming at the lake were such a big part of my childhood , I decided to purchase a home in the area where I could enjoy those things once again. Since I am unable to spend all my time at my vacation home, I would like to share it with others. Great memories are the best part of looking back on our lives.
