Welcome to The Lake Cabins Resort! Built in the early 1940s, our resort is steeped in local history and offers a perfect blend of rustic getaway charm and modern amenities.

Please Note: The resort consists of separate rental options: The Lake House and individual log cabins. This listing is specifically for the rental of the waterfront Lake House.

Resort Amenities & Waterfront
The Beach: Enjoy 100 feet of pristine beachfront on the all-sports, 617-acre Fife Lake—voted the best inland lake in Northern Michigan. The water is shallow right off our dock, making it a comfortable spot for kids to swim.

Water Sports: Guests enjoy complimentary use of our kayaks and paddleboards. Boat rentals are also available for experienced boaters if you'd like to cruise the lake to spot local eagles and loon nests.

Seasonal Note: The beach area closes the last weekend in September, and docks are removed for the winter.

Accommodations
The Lake House: A spacious 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom home featuring full kitchens on both the upstairs and downstairs levels. Perfect for larger gatherings, accommodating up to 12 guests maximum.

The Log Cabins: Fully restored authentic log cabins featuring updated, modern kitchens and premium upgrades—ideal for couples or smaller families looking for a cozy retreat. Each individual cabin is available to rent.

The Location
Fife Lake sits right in the center of Northern Michigan’s best outdoor recreation. We are located just a short drive from Traverse City, Kalkaska, and Cadillac, with the Boardman River running to our north and the Manistee River to our south. Whether you are looking for hiking, biking, boating, or world-class fishing, you are right in the heart of it all.

Come relax, soak up some sun on our beach, and make your own memories at a historic Michigan resort!

The lodge was the perfect size for my family. Two bedrooms upstairs and two bedrooms downstairs, each with a kitchen, worked extremely well. Lake views from the large deck were great. Enjoyed renting the pontoon for the afternoon to explore the lake. The host Jeff was on site and was very helpful.

Love this property and this lake. Kids swam about 12 hours a day, rented the pontoon available and spent the day on the water, close to tourist options for day trips but plenty to do on the property.

Summer getaway

Fife lake is a family friendly area with the lake small and shallow enough to be great for kids. The guest house was large enough to sleep everyone in the family making it a great experience!

Stress Free Vacation

We took a few days with just our family before our oldest son headed off to college. We could not have asked for a more enjoyable and relaxing few days to spend together. The house was very clean and the owners are wonderful!

Great spot, beautiful and peaceful with amazing lake views

We stayed in the lake house which is 4 bedroom 2 bath with 6 adults and 5 kids. Very comfortable stay with two pull out couches on each floor plus one room had a bunk bed. Great patio area to sit out with a drink at sunset with a beach area below and a firepit for marshmellows. We really had a grear time and our hosts were really wonderful. Plus a great location within 30 minutes of a lot of sites and Traverse City.

Gorgeous place!

My family group first time in Fife lake and it couldn't be better. We had a great time in the main house which was perfect for our 12 people group. The house has amazing views of the lake and it is comfortable and well equipped. We did kayaking and paddle boarding. Jeff was a great host!

Nice home overlooking a beautiful lake

We rented a cabin and the lake house for our extended family. The view and the lake were wonderful. The host was very helpful and responsive, staying right in the property in one of the cabins. The ductless air conditioning worked great. Very quiet, but very efficient. Plenty to do on the lake, but quite far from “tourist” towns for exploring. The cabin was very basic, but provided the extra beds and toilet we needed.

We will be back!!

This was my second time at this property! We had a rather large group, but the space provided was perfect. Leading up to our stay all of our questions were answered in a timely fashion. My older children had areived before me and they were greeted and treated so well before we got there ourselves. There were a few small hiccups, but they were addressed and fixed w/o any hesitation. And that left us to be able to enjoy our trip. We had an absolute blast!! We are already booked for next year!!

Family Vacation

We were very pleased with the location and amenities of the property. My suggestions for improving are to clean up the grounds by pulling/ spraying weeds and use a blower on the steps to the beach. Upgrade the furniture in living rooms... those futons are not very comfortable for TV watching. Paint the heater in upstairs bathroom and also the vanity. We enjoyed our stay and appreciate being there to enjoy the beautiful lake.

The home was perfect for our family getaway. Our group of 12 ranging in age from 3 to 67 were very comfortable here. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals for our group. Having 2 kitchens was great. The lake view was stunning and we were able to see a bald eagle while out on the pontoon boat. The younger children couldn’t get enough of the shallow water at the dock. The fishing was great. Jeff and Beckey were wonderful hosts. Jeff went above and beyond. He helped all of our group getting things from vehicles to our cabin. He was very quick to respond to any concerns and resolve them quickly. Such a wonderful time. We expect to be back again.

Awesome stay! Jeff and Beckey went overboard to make sure we had everything we needed. We rented the large house, and it was MORE than enough room for our group, and the layout is ideal for two families. Great check in process, great communication, highly recommend!

We had an amazing week, having a private beach area was perfect!! Host responded quickly, very friendly and helpful. Cute town to visit with ice cream, public beach and park within walking distance.

Jeff is the host with the most! He is dedicated to making sure you have the best time you can while staying at the cabins and big log house. As a bachelorette party of ten, we stayed in the big log house. Jeff was very gracious and ready to lend a hand with anything. He helped with lugging our coolers, and had a very helpful wagon on site that made hauling our stuff back and forth from the house to the car seamless. We also had a blast renting the pontoon on the property! The lake is beautiful and lively. We asked Jeff to join us on a ride on the pontoon and he gave us a tour. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better host and house to stay in. We will always cherish the memories we made here.

family time

The lake was very relaxing and peaceful. Our granddaughters enjoyed fishing with grandpa and dad. We enjoyed boating and enjoyed the pontoon as well. Weather was good for the most part. On days we couldn't be outside we enjoyed baking and playing games. We had a great time creating memories with our family. The week went way to fast. The owners were great. Thanks for pointing us to the eagle nest !

Family Reunion

Jeff and Beckey's property was perfect for our family reunion. We rented the house and all of the cabins and each family had their own space - it was perfect. The house and cabins have everything you need and everything was spotless! We spent lots of time swimming in the lake, kayaking, and paddle boarding. The little kids had fun playing in the beach and shallow water area. The outside area around the cabins was perfect for eating meals together, outdoor movie night, 80's night, and talking around the fire pit. We ventured into Traverse City and visited the Sleeping Bear Dunes national park. We highly recommend this property!

Wonderful stay

The property was Beautiful. We enjoyed the boat and kyaks very much. Would love to come and stay at this property again. Jeff was so helpful and was always there to answer our questions.

My wife and I loved this property from the first time was saw it. The house has two decks overlooking the lake. It is a peaceful place to sit and relax. We love it here. The town is very friendly and we would like to invite you to come and stay with us.

We have kayaks and paddle boards for the guest of the resort to use at no additional cost. We also have low cost boat rental. We try to keep pricing down on extras so our guest can use their vacation dollars to do other things to make their vacation the best possible.
