This 4 bedroom 2 bath remodeled home is surrounded by 25 acres of grass fields with 1,000 feet bordering the beautiful Dan River. Imagine splashing in the cool water. Go for a leisurely walk down the 3/4 mile - low traffic gravel lane. At night sit on the porch and listen to the tranquil sounds of the river, do a little stargazing or grill your favorite steak, sit around the firepit or picnic table. When you go inside you can relax by the electric fireplace with someone special. Read, watch Roku TV, play chess or checkers. There's plenty of space with 4 bedrooms, and a playroom with a futon that folds out to make a double bed. Two full bathrooms, one on the main level and one upstairs. Bring the family, play a yard game, shoot a few hoops or relax and enjoy the peace and quiet for your next vacation or just a few days to rest and recharge. You deserve a nice get-away. The Dan River home was perfect for our family of 9. The home was clean, beds comfortable. Plenty of kitchen cookware and accessories. We visited Mt. Airy and Pilot mountain. Saw a couple of deer. Estelle was easy to communicate with. Canā€™t wait to return.

The Dan River house was very roomy. The kitchen had basic supplies for all our cooking needs. Lots of pillows and blankets. Estella was a very gracious host and answered all our questions.We enjoyed sitting on the porch and listening to the river. The grandchildren played in the river, even though it was October. We will be back in the summer to try tubing on the Dan River.

This is a repeat rental (5 years so far) for our family of grown children and grandchildren. We raft and play in the river, disconnect 90% from technology (but the wi-fi is great), play games and prepare meals in the family/style kitchen equipped with everything we need. Host Estelle is always responsive. The memories made here are some of the grandchildrenā€™s fondest memories - as well as all the rest of us. It is our ā€˜happy placeā€™, and always feels like coming home!

Celebration of Life

My siblings and I were there from Missouri for my fatherā€™s Celebration of Life. The Dan River property was just what the doctor ordered: peaceful and serene. The property is a perfect private hideaway with room to move and think. The home housed myself and my five siblings comfortablyā€¦very homey with loads of charm and character. I hope this property is available every time I plan to visit the Ararat area!

Quite and peaceful

We really enjoyed our stay at Dan River house. It was myself, husband and 85 year old mother. We enjoyed having our coffee in the morning on front porch listening to river. And in the evening watching the turkeys and at night the lighting bugs havenā€™t seen them in a long time. Thanks again Estelle for letting us stay.

Family Getaway

This house was perfect for 4 couples. It was so peaceful and quiet. You could hear Dan River when sitting on the porch. We were close enough to everything. We love to host family events as well as gatherings with friends. We also enjoy all the local festivals and drives along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

This property can accomodate a large family at a very reasonable price while providing an ample variety of activities both on the property and nearby towns. We are about an hour's drive from Winston-Salem NC, with Hanes Mall, Reynolda House, Kaledium Museum, Old Salem, Bethabara. Several State Parks: Pilot Mtn., and Hanging Rock NC and Fairy Stone Park in VA.

This home is very secluded, yet less than half a mile from a well traveled secondary road. Just 15 miles NE of Mount Airy, NC (Mayberry), with it's festivals, great restaurants and shopping. Drive about 7 miles up to the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway for magnificent views at the many overlooks. Just 3 miles to the Claudville entrance to Primland Resort with fine dining and world class golf course.
