Welcome to The Dog House! We have a pet- and family- friendly townhouse set up for frequent travelers. Itā€™s comfortable and well-appointed, with an eclectic mix of antiques and brand-new furniture, steps away from key attractions that bring people to Old Town Alexandria, Washington DC, and National Harbor. Here, you will enjoy all the comforts of home. The fully equipped kitchen includes oven, dishwasher and refrigerator/freezer with ice-maker. Small appliances include blender, microwave, toaster and coffee maker. The Dog House has wifi, Cable TV, and board games. There is also a washer and dryer if you need to get some laundry done while you are here.

With ample living space and a patio on the main level and two bedrooms upstairs, itā€™s easy living for families or people with differing schedules. The master bedroom has a queen bed with closet and dresser. The second bedroom has two twin beds with closet and dresser.

Capital Bikeshare, District Taco, gourmet coffee, convenience store, and Balducciā€™s: all within 1 block. Easy access to: Downtown DC (about $20 Uber ride,) ~20 min walk to Metro; Convenient to DCA; 6 blocks to King St.; 4 blocks to the historic GW parkway and Potomac River recreation path. Easy access to I-95. Perfect headquarters for a visit to the Nation's Capital.

Unique and comfortable Old Town House at great location! The house has been recently renovated and combines modern and original. It was perfect for me and my teens and our doodle was welcomed which was a big plus for us. The host is very responsive and house very well equipped with new appliances and washer/dryer. The little patio outside is sweet and would be lovely to enjoy in the warmer seasons (we were there in winter). Highly recommend and we plan to be back!

The home was clean and organized with great furnishings. The backyard was a serene place for a quiet meal or having a cocktail. The walk to king street was only about seven blocks so access to restaurants was nearby. Great place to spend some time.

We stayed at the doghouse for a family vacation. It was very clean, had everything we could need, and was located only a short trip into DC. Street parking was easy and always available.The host was easy to communicate with and answered all of our questions in a timely manner. Check out was easy-take out trash and put the used towels in a basket! We will definitely book again if we are in the area!

Wonderful stay in Alexandria

We really enjoyed our stay in Old Town Alexandria! The house was very clean and complete with all the amenities we needed. Parking was easy to find and it was a quick bus ride to the metro to head into DC. Everyone had a great time!

Awesome place 2nd time staying here

The Dog House was great! This is the second year my friends and I stayed. It has everything you could need and more! We had a great girls weekend! We parked our cars right in front when we arrived on Friday and didnā€™t drive the whole weekend. We walked everywhere very close to shops and restaurants! Super clean and comfortable beds. Alexandria Rowhome Dreams

We had a fantastic weekend stay at The Dog House. So conveniently located, clean, great appointments and cozy! Joel was reachable, but we didn't need anything while we were there. We live in the state, but opted to have a retreat space from our family and friends who were staying nearby at The Gaylord at the National Harbor. We were happy with our choice and the proximity to the commercial area, while being able to enjoy the quaint Old Alexandria neighborhood with all its charm. The bonus was being able to bring our pup along for the fun, too. We hate being away from him and usually have to make concessions with our rentals when considering bringing our dog along. The Dog House is one of those rare diamonds that checks all the boxes!We would absolutely stay here again!

Lovely home in great location

House is in a super convenient location. House is super cute and has everything you need. Joel is a great host and responds quickly. Knocked off one star just for the neighbor. Out of owners control but neighbors decided to have an all out fight at 1 in the morning for over an hour. Again nothing the owner can control that is city living.

Wir waren als 4-kƶpfige Familie fĆ¼r ein paar Tage im Dog House. Die Unterkunft hatte alles was wir brauchten. Sie war sauber und die Betten bequem. Sowohl die Altstadt von Alexandria als auch Washington DC konnten wir gut erreichen.

Brooks Family DC Trip 2024

We had a great time in Alexandria and DC. The house was very clean and not too far of a walk to King Street. The house worked just fine for the 5 of us (kids age 8 and 9). Alexandria is a cool town if you like history, shopping, and good food. The free trolley up and down King Street is a great plus.

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Dog House is quaint, charming, and perfectly located. Balducci's Grocery was a daily stop and made our evenings.

Absolutely loved it

This was our first time renting. This place was so welcoming the moment we opened the door. It was so clean and the host has all the daily essentials there for you. It was easy to get around town and super close to public transportation which made it easy to get into DC. I would stay here again.

Wonderful spot

The Dog House and Alexandria was perfect for our family passing through the DC area for a few days. We were all delighted by the Dog House's charm and downtown Alexandria was such an unexpected treat. Wish we had more time to explore!

Great location, great host

The dog house is a great place to stay. We are a family of four and had a great time on our long weekend trip, we had plenty of room for the 4 of us, the house was very clean. The location is hard to beat, this was our second time coming to DC, but our first in Alexandria, we loved it. It was nice walking to king street, down to the water, and just all around. It seemed like we were just steps from everything. Joel was a great host, the house had anything we could possibly need, we had a question while we were there and we got a response right away. This is definitely a place we would stay again without question.

Best Place Ever/Best Host Ever

From our first day to our last, this townhome was perfect. The townhome is well supplied with everything you will need for a comfortable stay. A well equipped kitchen, wonderful linens, GREAT location, GREAT ambiance. Close to public transportation, we did not need a rental car. We stayed two weeks and when we had an issue flying out at the end of our trip, one call to Joel and we he assured us we could stay another night. We will be planning a return visit and The Dog House will definitely be our place to stay!

We have lived all over the country, and we find ourselves coming back to Old Town, Alexandria time and again. We were tired of staying in hotels when we visited and decided to buy a place of our own and share it with others.

Its location is idea for those interested in exploring Alexandria, DC or National Harbor. You can walk to the metro, restaurants, shops and the river; you can grab a Capital Bikeshare and explore the GW Parkway. This home is central to it all.

You will love Old Town, Alexandria. The city was founded in 1749 and is home to many historical sites including Christ Church where both George Washington and Robert E Lee worshiped, Gatsby's Tavern, the Lee-Fendall Home and The Torpedo Factory. Old Town is set up as a grid, with most homes being multi-story townhomes with shared walls, charming gardens and for some, water views of the Potomac River.
