Love love love!
Dec-2018: Stayed for 2-nts with the family (6 adults and 5 (all under 9yrs) children) and loved the location, space and freedom that Cumnock Knowes afforded us.
You can't miss the property as it stands proud on the horizon as you drive south, out of Carsphairn. The woodland that has been removed from around the house would have offered some protection from the elements, but the views from every window were fantastic - hopefully replanting is in the plans for the future.
The house is very well appointed and we did not need for anything. Bed were unbelievably comfortable. However if we were to be (hyper) critical......
* only have access to 1x shower for the 11-off us meant the morning 'get ready' was a bit of a slow burner (the 10am check-out was a bit of a challenge!!). Some of the rooms do appear to have en-suites (we think), but they were locked.
* def need some larger wine glasses in the cupboards.
* knives need sharpened (pet hate)
We'd planned a walk into the cafe in the village, but there was no route 'off road' and the terrain along the river wasn't suitable for the kids (or grandparents). The cafe however was great and the owners were very friendly, offering a great menu considering the size and (apparent) small footfall.
We'd definitely go back to Cumnock Knowes (and for more than 2nts next time).
A+++. Highly recommended.
