Lovely private one bedroom, one bath, full kitchen, living room with large private outdoor patio. WiFi, Satellite TV, Internet. Incredible views of beach and Sea of Cortez. Easy one minute walk to ocean (shallow and generally calm due to being in partial bay) Sandy bottom. Clean and beautiful private beach. Only 4 minute drive to local town with small grocery store, restaurants with great food that is very reasonable, police, fire station, and community center. Owners reside in main house next door to ensure all of your needs are met and expectations are exceeded in every way.

The Sea of Cortes is one of the richest bodies of water on the planet and has rightly earned the epithet of the “world’s greatest fish trap.” With over 900 different kinds of fish (around 20% of which are endemic) and 2000 kinds of marine invertebrates to be found in its waters, the Sea of Cortez is truly swimming with life. beautiful spot overlooking Sea of Cortez.

Perfect getaway for enjoying peace and quiet and long walks on the beach. And nothing beats the morning sunrises over the Sea of Cortez. About 30 minutes south of San Felipe so close enough to enjoy restaurants and shops and pick up your fresh shrimp and fish.

Blissful Escape to the Baja

Staying at the casita along the Sea of Cortez beach was just the relaxing, quiet, off-the-grid getaway we needed! The cottage has a charming vibe and Stephen made prompt adjustments if we required anything. Long walks on the beach with our dog and hunting for seashells, we saw baby octopus, roadrunners, pelicans ....and only 4 other humans in 5 days. PERFECT!

Peace and Quiet

I really needed a vacation spot where I could just unplug from every thing. This little casita was perfect. Quiet and peaceful. The bed was super comfortable with a fantastic view of the ocean. It was very restful and had a great beach for daily walks.

Beach front

The place is cute & beach front. Communication with the owner was easy. The casita could benefit from a window ac unit. Of note, location is 30 minutes out of San Felipe.

Thank you for your comment. As we are off grid, a window ac is difficult. But we have great cross ventilation from the ocean and ceiling fans. Our map shows our location so that everyone can tell where we are located.

Loved Tecate Place Casita

We'd never stayed in San Felipe before and were a bit concerned about where to stay that would be lovely and safe. We found this sweet casita and just loved it. So much so that we're staying there again on our way home. The casita is right on the beach and it has been decorated so nicely. The only downside is the water pressure, but that is common here in Baja. Stephen is a great communicator and will do everything possible to make your stay the best it can be.

Beautiful Property

We were headed down to Bahia de Los Angeles and didn't want to make the drive in 1 day. I didn't want to stay to close to San Felipe because it can be a little crazy with too many people. Stephens place was perfect! The house is located near a small number of homes directly on the Sea of Cortez. Very well equipped with everything we needed for a few nights. There are a couple of good restaurants in the area. The house is very cute and perfect for 2 people. Great views of the water! We wiil be back again!!

Fabulous Casita Get-Away! Hottest water in Baja!

We absolutely adored this little casita! It had everything we needed for a small group of friends seeking a peaceful get-away, starry-night bonfires, sandy beach and clear water, tide pools with octopus, great fishing, and supportive, kind, and communicative hosts—Any question we had was answered within minutes by Steve, he was just a text away. And all the things we wondered about were already there for us! Quick drive to San Felipe, quick drive to the hot springs, and did I mention this casita has the hottest water of anywhere we stayed in Baja? Luxurious showers, games to play, happy dogs, long sunsets & sunrises, peaceful, safe, and friendly community. Thank you so much for sharing this gem with us! We’ll be back!

When we arrived,it took us 10 mins to get the door unlocked,there was no water pressure,the bathroom sink plug didnt work,I was on my knees everytime the sink had to be drained,no toaster,the view was beautiful,could not get firm directions on the location of the unit until we paid,had we known it was 51 k from San Felipe we would not have rented it .

Jim, I am glad I was able to rectify the minor problems you had upon your arrival. I immediately provided you a toaster even though we are off grid and got the water pressure corrected. Also unfortunate you were unable to put the location in your GPS even though we sent you specific directions as to our location. We also offered you a free extra night because you were unaware that you had arrived during the Baja 250 race week.

Fantastic Place & Location

We just finished our stay here with our two dogs. First of all, it is almost impossible to be closer to the beach/water. The location is incredible with miles of almost empty beach in either direction. The casita is even nicer in person than the pictures. It was extremely comfortable and more than enough space for the two of us (and the other two four legged friends). It does get a bit chilly at night at this time of year so bring some warmer clothes. It is about 45 minute drive to San Felipe. We just went into town one day. The rest was spent paddle boarding, walking on the beach and enjoying the tranquility of the location. Stephen and Laura are awesome hosts, responded to every message right away and we couldn't ask for more.

Stunning View, But...

This is a cute casita owned by a couple from Washington State. We reserved it for seven nights based on the great reviews. On the fourth evening of our stay we ran out of household water when I was in the shower, causing my husband to heat up some of our dwindling supply of drinking water to rinse me off. Apparently the owners were too busy attending to their puppies-for-sale business to ensure we had sufficient household and drinking water for our stay. We decided to leave the next morning, using the last of the drinking water to responsibly wash dishes, clean up, flush the toilet, and wash our hands. The owner refunded us three days and offered us a free 5-day future stay in exchange for a 5-star review. We considered this a bribe and notified VRBO. We feel this calls into question any review on this property and the integrity of the owner. Property details: rusty knives, lots of towels, lots of dog poop on the beach, and still no colander.

Over the last five years that we have rented out casita, we have consistently received 5-star ratings because we put our guests first, as previous reviews have indicated. This was a situation where no matter what we did the guests were not satisfied. We instruct all our guests that we are off-grid and water conservation is critical. As soon as we learned there was a shortage of water we had it immediately replenished. When the guests choose to leave early, we honored that with an immediate refund. And because we always strive to do 5-star service, we offered the guests an opportunity to return for 5 days at no charge. We always appreciate constructive comments that will make the experience of future guests more enjoyable.

Living Off The Grid

From our first sight of Laura and Steve’s casita, we fell in love! The casita is beside their casa and both houses are located just steps from the beach and the Sea of Cortez. The casita is well appointed with a kitchen, dining area, living room combined and a large, very comfortable bedroom with a connected bathroom! The Sea of Cortez filled our view from every window! The sea was warm and full of jumping fish; and the air full of pelicans, terns, gulls and osprey. While all of the houses in the Campo (the beach side residential area where the casa and casita are located) are off the grid, everyone has solar panels and backup generators. In the casita, we had ceiling fans, lamps, ceiling lights, a fridge, stove, air conditioning unit, sufficient for comfortable living. We chose to stay a month in June. The second 2 weeks were very hot! To cool the entire casita, we would suggest a second a.c. unit in the living room/ kitchen area. Except in the summer months, having the large windows open and the occasional fan going is sufficient. Our hosts were helpful and extremely responsive. Both of them had many suggestions for restaurants, interesting places to go, good shopping, etc. We learned a great deal about the area from them. We hope to return someday.

A great place to stay

Very comfortable, beautifully decorated and well equipped (though a colander would be nice :-)) . The Cabaña Vieja restaurant 4 doors down the beach was wonderful (the best chili rellenos we ever ate).

Beautiful and comfortable stay!

We had a fantastic time at Stephen and Laura's casita on the beach! The location is amazing. We had the beach to ourselves for the 8 nights we stayed. Amazing sunrises and sunsets, and we walked in both directions every morning and night, swam during the day, went paddleboarding, and enjoyed all of our meals and time in general on their beautiful property/under the palapa/on the beach. The house is fully solar powered/off grid and everything works perfectly. We both worked remotely while here and had no issues with the internet- it was fast and we were impressed given the location. Stephen and Laura are excellent hosts - responsive, super friendly, and just wonderful people. We asked for a grocery run due to. our long drive with a toddler before arriving, and they stocked up the kitchen with everything we needed so we didn't have to go to the store at all during our stay, just went out to eat once at the restaurant 10 mins away. Otherwise we cooked daily and enjoyed the peace and quiet of the area. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed every moment !! The location is perfect for relaxing on the beach, kayaking, fishing, etc ... Huge thanks to Laura and Stefan who went out of their way to give us the best feeling possible, The unit was very beautiful, equipped with everything imaginable and especially beautiful works of art. We highly recommend to anyone thinking of going on vacation and for sure we will be back soon!

RelaXing get-away

Laura & Stephen are wonderful hosts who went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable. The house is super cute & comfy with all the necessary amenities for a relaxing beach get-away. We had a great time & would definitely stay here again.

We love it here! Bought Casa on 5 lots 2015. Built separate Casita 2017. We are retired couple who travel, live here and in Washington state. We are on VRBO to share this paradise with others at reasonable fee. Our goal is that guests want to return regularly and give us outstanding review.
