River Winds Farm & Estate is a family-owned and operated event venue and horse farm conveniently located in Saco, Maine. Experience our 160 sprawling acres of manicured lawns and gardens with pastures,trails, and woodlands fronting the Saco River. The property features a fully restored historic home the Austin House with accommodations for 16 guests. You can enjoy swimming year round with indoor and outdoor pools. Bountiful natural amenities for guests to experience. Jogging and biking trail right on the property.The estate is the perfect setting for a family vacation. We are just minutes from the highway, Portland jetport and historic Old Port where you can enjoy the quaint shops or eat in an amazing local restaurant. A short drive to several beaches or a day trip to old Orchard Beach, Kennebunkport, Ogunquit or Boston.

We are a working horse farm you may see people who board their horses at River Winds riding on the trails or the family making hay to feed the horses in the winter. We even have mini horses and goats for people to enjoy patting.
River Winds event barn could host a special event such as a wedding, anniversary, family reunion or birthday. Our Event Manager could assist you in the planning and guide you to local vendors. A separate contract is necessary for barn events and additional guests. Some occasions we host public music events! Austin House guests are welcome to attend our music events.

We have an indoor heated pool perfect for a midwinter getaway with the family. Depending on Mother Nature we have a skating pond, snowmobile and cross country ski trails. Consider us next time your looking for a little rest and relaxation.

Wonderful property and location!

We had an amazing stay at this beautiful property! Perfect for a family ranging from 3 - 70 years old. The kids loved the pool and the neighboring horses, goats and cows. Would definitely rent again if back in the area!

The house & property were immaculately clean & well-manicured! Beautiful peaceful rural estate! Perfect family gathering spot

We spent 5 days at this beautiful home. We had a party of 13 which ranged in ages from 4-70 and it was enjoyed by everyone. The house was emaculate and so tastefully decorated yet remained welcoming. The setting is so beautiful, the views are amazing and so relaxing. We happened to pick one of the hottest weeks in Maine, so the pool was a welcome respite from the heat and the perfect way to end the day of sightseeing. Grocery stores were close and had everything we needed. A short drive to Portland and the shore. My grandson fell in love with Tatertot the goat, whom he visited as often as possible. I would recommend to anyone staying in the area. Perfect for large family gatherings.

Another wonderful stay at Austin House!

Our second stay at Austin House did not disappoint. Beautiful setting, lots of room, and plenty to do for everyone from grandparents to the kidsā€¦even the thunderstorm was stunning! Beth & her team were so helpful & friendly. Thanks for another great visit!

Perfect for memorable family reunion

Property was easy access for driving and flying and super clean with plenty of space indoors and out for our gathering! The owners were readily available for any questions and to meet our needs. The property is beautifully well kept for weekend weddings and events, so weekday rentals are perfect if you donā€™t have an event scheduled there, but Iā€™d also recommend them for catered events. It is also near beach and many Maine attractions - only wish we could stay longer but definitely will consider renting again.

NOT Pet Friendly

A group of our friends rented the estate for Labor Day Weekend ā€“ months in advance. The rules say up to two dogs allowed, but we had four so we messaged Beth to see if that was an issue, and if so, let us know so we can find another place. She doesnā€™t respond and confirms the reservation and the free cancellation window closes. The WEEK OF our stay, she messages and says that there will an extra $$$$ TOP of the $$$ pet fee. Since it was too late to book another place, we had no other choice but to accept that charge. A week later, Beth messages us again and says she is charging an additional $$$$$$$$ because there was pet hair in the pool and notes that we left dog waste in the yard. We know this is not true as we are extremely diligent about picking up after our dogs. This ā€œpet-friendlyā€ house cost us an extra fifteen hundred on top of the already expensive nightly fee. And this isnā€™t even including the cleaning fee! Beth mentions that luckily, the new pool liner was NOT scratched. So really, we were charged an extra fee for her to clean out the filter aka a very normal task when maintaining a pool. Aside from this issue, the estate is nice ā€“ but the rooms (except the master) are pretty small. At the cost/night, we still had to buy our own supplies (only one one trash bag and one extra roll of toilet paper were supplied). We encountered a power outage during our stay ā€“ which turns off not only the electricity, but running water as well. The host didnā€™t apologize for the inconvenience and just told us to wait it out. It only lasted about 1.5-2 hours, but thatā€™s a long time when 15 people have to use the bathroom. On the last full day, someone who works at the farm/estate walks through the property without any notice ā€“ to get to the barn/venue. People start showing up to tour the venue for the remainder of the morning. Some of the dogs are reactive to strangers ā€“ so not only did the host inconvenience us, but put these people looking at the venue and her employee at risk by not alerting us. Weā€™ve been renting for 10 years now ā€“ all of us are highly rated and not disrespectful to any property. There werenā€™t any cleaning instructions, but we took out all the trash and recycling, wiped down the counters, did all the dishes, and even started the laundry for dirty towels. This is the first time we have encountered such a host who decides to tack on unreasonable charges. Renters beware!

Family fun at the Farm

The property is stunning. Watching sunset from the deck each night was thrilling. The outdoor and indoor pool were a big plus. Very large dining area and perfect area for breakfast. There is plenty of bedrooms and extra spaces for quiet time. It was very hot at the end of June and beginning of July. Our only issue was the lack of air conditioning in areas of the house. Though there were some fans in the closets, some bedrooms were not air conditioned and it was extremely uncomfortable especially for relaxing in the evening. The main dining room had a portable air conditioner unit, but it did not help much with the heat. Also the kitchen and breakfast area were not air conditioned. The large, spacious sitting area upstairs was not air conditioned either. The price was very expensive and worth it, if in the correct season. That was our only disappointment.

We were so pleasantly surprised on arrival, the home is enormous, the kitchen absolutely perfect, the property pristine. It was difficult to leave at the end of our stay and everyone loved their time! We were joined by family from age 3 to 75, and everyone loved the experience!

Wind River Farm Estate

It was like a home away from home. The owner (Beth) was helpful from beginning to end of stay. We are sending kudos to The cleaning staff. Every aspect of this 7,000 sq. Ft. House was immaculate. The house and property are very very well maintained. The kitchen adequately stocked for most likely anything you could possibly need. We absolutely enjoyed our stay and highly recommend Wind River Estate. Just beautiful.

Fun & Games in Saco

This house had it all. The country-chic vibe. Tons of space. Heated indoor pool. Chef's kitchen. Horses, walking trails, Christmas decor ... I could go on and on. We are an extended family of 14 and everyone LOVED this house. We made a a few trips to Portland, but mostly hung out at this amazing property. Highly recommend.

Riverwinds was the ideal place for our family reunion Christmas! Plenty of space for all, a huge kitchen for cooking and gathering together, and an absolutely breathing taking property for taking snowy walks together!! Perfect!

Perfect House for a Large Gathering

My family of 14+ just spent 4 fabulous days over Thanksgiving at River Winds Farm; what a treat! Beth and her family are lovely hosts and were incredibly responsive to our inquiries and needs. The kitchen was pretty central for our group, and it is a good setup: lots of counter space, plenty of good pots/pans (including oversized ones) and cooking utensils, and tons of place settings. The house also has several comfy sitting areas for reading and a large family room for visiting. The property offered nice views and easy access to walking trails - great for our dog. We would absolutely look forward to another stay here.

Perfect family gathering place

The Austin house was the perfect spot for our extended family gathering. Plenty to see and do right on the property and lots of space for the kids to explore (and the adults to get away for some quiet!). Everyone we met at River Winds Farm was lovely and helpful, and our stay was a little slice of heaven.

Perfect spot for the perfect weekend

We had an amazing time during our stay. The property was GORGEOUS and had everything you could need and more. Our big group had plenty of space and enjoyed the pools, spacious kitchen, and even got a volleyball game going in the field. The screened in porch was perfect for the early risers of our group to sip coffee. Additionally, there was a concert in the neighboring event barn the night we checked in which we were able to listen to and enjoy. One of the musicians even came over to our group after the show and continued to play just for us. It was like we had our own private show!

Amazing Place

This place was everything and more! The pictures definitely do it justice it is even bigger than I imagined. Plenty of space for a group of 16 even had some beds left over. The kitchen was great it had everything we needed. The pool was amazing never felt like we were crowded and the indoor pool worked out perfectly especially for the night time. Views were spectacular and the firepit came in handy for the chilly nights. Everyone was very pleased with the experience we will definitely be staying here again!

Magical property!!!

My family and I had an AMAZING stay at Beth's property. The place is perfect in every way, there was ample room for our large party (ages 2-85), no one was ever in anyone's way. We loved and made use of all the facilities, both the outdoor and indoor pool were wonderful and the adults and kids had a blast! We kayaked and swam in the river which was quite serene! We enjoyed walking through the meadows, hearing the frogs in the pond in the evenings and s'mores by the fire! The location is close to Portland, Kennebunkport and Old Orchard Beach. It gives one more then enough privacy and ideal relaxation. Thank you Beth!!! There really aren't enough words to describe how incredible of a time we had!

Christmas 2019!

All of our six children are now married and we have nine grandchildren. As much as we would love to make the song ā€œIā€™ll Be Home For Christmasā€ a reality every year, we just werenā€™t going to fit for four days of Christmas Wild Rumpus. So we rented the most beautiful place to spend Christmas, a horse farm in Maine. The beds were soft and warm. The place was spotless. The kitchen was new and completely stocked so we could make Christmas and Christmas Eve dinners, and get this, all sit comfortably at one long beautiful table! Beth put Christmasy decorations everywhere, little lights and nutcrackers and pretty little lighted trees. Everything was done with her wonderful taste and attention to detail. She even put up a tree for us and hooked us up with a great guy and his wife who came over and took us all on a horse wagon ride....Beth was very accessible and so easy to work with and relaxed! The whole time was magical! We do a big family Christmas every other year so I donā€™t mind too much telling you to book this place while you can for 2020.....But in 2021 we may have to fight you for it!šŸ˜‰ā¤ļø

River Winds Farm & Estate is a 160-acre family owned and operated property featuring event venue and lovely outdoor facilities suited for nearly any occasion. Established in 2002 by the Austin Family who first enjoyed it as their hobby and horse farm. Now, over the last decade, the family has decided to open its farm and estate up to the public to enjoy as much as they do. The property now serves as an events center, wedding venue, vacation and family function destination, and equestrian boarding and performance center.

The Estate features a fully-restored historic home, perennial gardens and lawns, acres of pastures and fields, woods and riding trails, mark this gorgeous property, all abutting the Saco River. The quaint, comfortable farmhouse with exposed wood beams and wide-plank floors, has plenty of room to spread out. The grounds provide room for lawn games and barbecues, swimming in the pool, or enjoying our miles of trails down to the river.

We are short drive to so many desirable destinations! Scenic day trip to the mountains. Short drive to the ocean. Twenty minute drive to Portlandā€™s amazing restaurants, museums and shops. Hour and a half to Boston.
