The Caballito de Mar (Seahorse) Suite (Sleeps 2). This extra large suite has a king bed and the Mayan decorations make you feel you are right in the middle of Mexico while enjoying the luxuries of a relaxing vacation. The room opens to the pool, garden and BBQ area. It offers a private bathroom, AC, wifi, private lock, and private entrance, mini refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. It is the perfect place to relax and within walking distance to the beach and great restaurants.

La Hacienda provides a unique Mexican get-away, located one mile from downtown and the most popular beach, Playa Norte. Enjoy the luscious tropical garden and pool. Most people get around via bicycles, taxis or golf carts. The house is located at the beginning of the safe and charming neighborhood, Salina Chica, where you will find restaurants, tennis court, basketball court, and grocery stores with fresh fruits and vegetables, all within walking distance. You can catch a taxi right in front of the house to go downtown and to the beach. The house is very private, yet just a 5 minute taxi ride from downtown where you will find all the shops, restaurants, bars and live music.

Little Slice of Heaven

I can't say enough great things about this little slice of heaven. Karen is such a great host and our stay at La Hacienda could not have been better. We like to do our own thing and found the location perfect, walking distance to Playa Norte but still far enough away to get out of the busy touristy area. Karen had everything we needed and more! Our room was awesome and the pool was fantastic. And I am a huge animal lover so her 3 dogs Bailey, Frankie and Aggie just added to the magic of this wonderful place. We fell in love with the island and Karen's place and have already booked our next stay there!

Great location, Fantastic Host

We stayed for a month at Karen’s Lahacienda and she was wonderful. She couldn’t be any more attentive to our needs. Great location and close to both ends of the island. We used the provided bikes to ride to each end of the island or caught a cab right out front. Right next to Isla Beer Garden. AC is cold and WiFi is good. Very private and safe. Turn on the box fan or some soft background noise and the nearby animals are not heard. Karen was the best host we have ever had and I made a special friend with adorable dog, Bailey. Bailey loved when I used the charcoal grill by the pool. Walkable distance to two grocery stores, butcher store and roadside produce. Loved it!

Home Away From Home

Karen is an amazing host and our stay at her villa was great! We found the location perfect, not too far from downtown but far enough to get out of the busy tourist area. Karen had everything we needed for the beach(beach chairs/Umbrellas/Snorkel gear) which was a huge plus, otherwise we would have been paying 35 plus American dollars a day to a vendor which was CRAZY!! Rooms were clean, comfortable and well air conditioned. Any small issues we had Karen was on top of it, that's all you can ask for in a host. So last but not least, KAREN'S DOGS! Everything about leaving the island was hard, and we found leaving the dogs the hardest lol. So if you're a dog lover be prepared, Bailey Frankie and Aggie will steal your hearts. Karen thanks again for a great stay, hope to see you again soon!

A little gated oasis. You would not know you were on a busy, mid-Island street - it is quiet and relaxing during the day. There are 4 suites, with a shared pool/rooftop terrace - lots of plants/trees. Close to a few local restaurants, easy to park a golf cart if you rent one. Certainly a place for dog-lovers. Karen has 3 dogs who share the outdoor space with you. We used a loud fan to suppress the local roosters and cats who can be loud at nighttime. We also had a couple island critters in our room as the room has some small gaps where the door meets the floor that you can see outside (lizard/insects-cockroach). Karen is very attentive, always asking if you have any needs when you see her. Towels, coolers, sunblock, aloe, Karen has it all! Ask her before you buy anything!

Local accommodations on Isla Mujeres!

Great location away from the touristy North beach area. Host Karen is great. Fast communication and lives on sight. No frills accommodations but that's what we wanted. Caught a cab every day right outside. Local restaurants, stores and even a ocean view within 5 minute walking distance. If you want to get away and see how the local lives but in close proximity to the North beach why not give it a try!

Affordable sweet spot mid-island

This was our fifth trip to Isla Mujeres in 12 years. We've stayed on North Beach, in a mid-island condo building, rented a house on the ocean side etc. This time wee were drawn to Karen's listing because of the photos and reviews, and the price. We had a pleasant experience. Her place is very affordable, super clean, and the bedroom was spacious with a king bed and colorful in a Mexican design sense. The room opened up to the pool area. For what we paid, it was a good option for us. Easy to walk to North Beach (about 20-25 minutes) or start walking and catch a taxi when one comes along.

I've always been an entrepreneur and was excited about a new challenge.

My first remarkable visit to Isla Mujeres was 25 years ago and I fell in love with the magic of the Island of Women. Relaxation washed over me as I stepped onto the ferry transporting me to this Caribbean paradise. I knew immediately that one day this island, that is steeped in a rich Mexican culture, would become my home. After many years, research and visits, in November 2016, I discovered the perfect home in the colonia Salina Chica. I knew La Hacienda would make a lovely beautique hotel, offering serenity and privacy for my guests along with space for me and my 2 standard poodles to live. I fell in love as soon as I walked in the front door. The same feeling I had on the first ferry ride 25 years ago. My wish is to share with you the beauty and tranquility of La Hacienda on Isla Mujeres. Please visit us soon.
