Great Getaway

Our family had an amazing time. The cabin is so unique and just a really cool place to stay. The only negative thing I have to say is that we didn’t book an extra night! This was our second time to stay here and we plan on visiting again. Thanks for a great family vacation spot.

River Stay

Everything was great, the AC issue upstairs was a bummer but we made due and enjoyed every bit of our stay including the occassional four legged visitor, she was adorable.

Great spot on the River

Our group of 13 (4 adults and 9 kids) had a great time at this location. Plenty of rooms and beds for everyone. Personally I loved the master bed because it was actually soft. The kids enjoyed the River with areas that were plenty deep to swing off a rope just steps away. The kitchen was well equipped for the stay. There are two porches overlooking the Frio River which were awesome at night because we had a great view of a meteor shower. The host was quick to respond to any questions we had. Definitely plan on staying here again next summer.

Fabulous Family Fun

First of all, this property is one of the most unique, "cool" places we have ever stayed. The pictures can't possibly do it justice. We had 5 families and each had their own space. The loft, while open to the stairs, was still divided enough for privacy. Everything was clean, there was plenty of cookware in the kitchen, many seating areas to enjoy meals, games, or just hang out. We had 13 adults and 7 little boys ranging from 11 years old to 11 months old, and there was something for everyone! We were worried going into the trip because everyone has been coming back from the Frio this summer talking about how low/empty the river is. We did not experience this at Firewater. If the whole Frio dried up, I believe there would still be water here. We enjoyed sunbathing/splashing with the younger kids around the rocky shore, and the older kids swam, snorkeled and really enjoyed the middle (it was still nearly chest-high). The outdoor area was amazing. We ate breakfast on the picnic table every morning with the most beautiful hill country views I have ever seen, and played dominoes under the lights every night. We enjoyed private access to the river, as well as a convenient proximity to town for drinks, ice and stores. Teena was such a good host, with great instructions, communication and accommodation. We made so many memories, this was a dream vacation!

Great River Spot

Great spot! Highly recommend! 10 minutes away from Garner Stare Park, private section on the river with a perfect swim whole. Tons of spaces for multiple family to spread out. The 2 refrigerators were also useful. Lots of kitchen basics along with a charcoal grill so cooking for a large group was easy! Had a drip and Kureg coffee machine so no need to wait. Beds were comfortable and washer/dryer was a perk. Enjoyed our stay with a group of 11.

The loft is not two separate bedrooms.

We absolutely loved staying in this home! Perfect location with a beautiful view and Teena is the FRIENDLIEST host I’ve ever dealt with. We LOVED the private river access. And the water was perfect, not too shallow and not too deep. Perfect for sitting and relaxing. The only thing we didn’t like is the loft area. It’s described as two bedrooms but it definitely isn’t. There is no privacy, there are no doors, only one side has a half wall, you can hear everything from downstairs and if there are any lights on downstairs it shines up the stairs and lights up the whole area. It’s definitely a open loft with a couple sleeping areas. And as another reviewer said the stairs are very difficult to get up and down. But we would definitely stay at this home again. Wonderful property. Thank you Teena.

House is great and views and location to river is even better. We had a wonderful time and Teena was the best. Just remember that if she has other renters on the property you do have to share the main stairs and the river front. We had a wonderful time.

Frio Summer Vacation

This property was great! We all enjoyed our stay. The property owner was very sweet and always attentive if needed. The only thing that would make the house better is more restrooms for a big family but that’s it! Everything else was wonderful!

Better than the pictures!

The house was amazing and the pictures do NOT give it justice. Amazing views and a short ride to magers crossing for a float. LOVE this house and we had a mix of kids. there's shallow and deeper water for both swim levels. Highly recommend for a large group. Teena is awesome and so helpful:)

Great stay

The location was great. My family thoroughly enjoyed staying here. It was plenty of space for all 16 of us. Favorite was the fact it was right on the river. We could enjoy the river without having to get in the car and drive, a plus considering we have 9 kids. We would stay here again. Recommend Teena's place.

THE BEST CABIN IN RIO FRIO

Rio Frio is our favorite place to go to, with that said, we have stayed at 6 cabins overall throughout the years. This cabin here, Firewater, has EVERYTHING you need. Space, beautiful outside patio, Gorgeous 😍 view and the river access was great. The cabin was private but not far from stores and the owner was accommodating and sweet. Again, this cabin was perfect for Thanksgiving, the fireplace was so warm and homey. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful home.

Perfect getaway!

This house is in a perfect location, to enjoy the Frio. Rock stairs right off the back porch to enjoy swimming & floating. The owner Teena, was a very nice and informative. The only negative things are, steps throughout the house and no bathroom upstairs. We have already booked to come back next year!!

Cool funky house right on the Frio River

We rented this house from Teena for five couples and four children. It was perfect for us! Everyone had their own space to go to so we never felt crowded in the house. It is set up very well! The upstairs is only accessed through a steep winding staircase so I would suggest that only children, teenagers or young adults stay up there. There is also not a bathroom in that loft area and it has five beds. This was not an issue for us because we had enough kids to be up there. The deck outside is awesome! It held everyone comfortably. The kitchen is well stocked. The river in front of the house is gorgeous and we enjoyed floating in tubes and fishing down there. The only suggestion I have for the house is to have a few more dish towels in the kitchen for cleaning and drying dishes. Also be aware that you have to bring your own linens and bath towels. Teena was very helpful and great to work with! We would definitely stay here again and recommended it to several friends.

The location is perfect for viewing the morning sunrise. You could see the hills in the distance while looking over the river. The interior of the house is very unique. It has many fossil rock walls and fireplaces. It is truly one of a kind.
