Family vacation

Property was nice, pool and kiddie pool was amazing. Kind of far to walk to beach with kids. DO NOT rent if you are hoping to get the military discount because it was not honored! Very disappointed.

Hi Shari. We're pleased that you enjoyed your vacation and the property. We're sorry that you did not receive the discount, but when booking via OTAs there is no allowance for coupons/discounts etc. This is not because of vacation rental management companies, but the OTAs don't allow it. This is why we encourage people to book direct so they can receive all the perks that OTAs do not allow us to offer. You save money by booking direct.

Lovely, comfortable house!

We had a party of two families, a total of 13 people. It was perfect for us! We had ample bedrooms, the ammenities were just as described. The directions on how to operate the tvs and internet were clear. Be advised that there are no standard items such as hand soap, garbage bags, napkins, paper towels, extra toilet paper. There is a Kuerig type coffee maker. (It's an odd brand name, but works great!) The walk to the beach was a bit far for us, as we had small children, but the parking lot was close, and we enjoyed the clean uncrowded beaches. Being less than a mile from the lighthouse and only 2 miles from the store, was very convenient. The owner is very good about responding to emails quickly. The property managers also responded quickly when we had a problem. Would consider staying again.

Would stay here again!

We had 17 family members stay at the house for a week. The house was great, plenty of space for all! We were close to the beach and to the sound, both just a short walk away.

Spring on the Beach

Our friends were visiting from England, there are 13 in all! We wanted a place to vacation together. This was the perfect house for us. With 9 children, it was comfortable, perfect for our families! Keith returns e mails quickly, and the rental management company was prompt when we had an issue. Just to note, there are no staple items, paper towels, extra toilet paper, trash bags, napkins. Conveniently there is a food lion 2 miles away. I also bought food from my grocery store at home (in VA) thinking it would be more expensive at the beach. To my surprise it was comparable. We will stay again!

Spring break getaway

Looking for a large and spacious hangout for a family reunion or just a bunch of friends?? This place delivers! Not only is it close to the beach which offers hours of fun even if you're not in the water (our kids dug in the sand, jumped the dunes, and flew kites to their hearts content) but the home itself is seriously so spacious, with well stocked options for fun, like books and movies for kids and adults alike. As far as the rating goes, I only knocked off a star because we had some concerns about the safety of the playground and surrounding property for the children...my friend and I were vacationing with our 10 children combined so it was quite important. Luckily this property also boasts a Manager that is invested in the happiness of his renters. He was prompt in having someone assess the situation and get things taken care of. We left for home happy to have ventured down to North Carolina for the week.

Great home for the entire family

This house was perfect for our entire family ranging from grandparents down to their 2 year old grandson. We had plenty of space and the home had everything we needed to cook meals and just relax and feel right at home. It is the perfect location as we were able to walk to the beach and get right on the bike trail to ride down the street to the park and shops. The park is on the Currituck Sound and you can watch the most amazing sunsets.

Great for all ages

This house is ideal for a large group regardless of age. Our family ranged in age from one to seventy-one and everyone had a good time. You couldn't find a more family friendly place. The pool and deck area are unusually large with plenty of seating. The hot tub was used many times. The decks on the second and third level are large and well furnished. We spent a lot of time on the top deck especially in the late afternoon and evening. The great room is excellent for a lot of people. At one point all 18 of us ate at the same time. Check with the management company to see what is provided. We didn't realize we would have to bring all types of soap, dish towels, paper towels, and extra toilet tissue. The owner is particularly helpful and responded quickly to every email.

Whale of Fortune Stay 2015

This house was PERFECT for our BIG FAMILY! It was BEAUTIFUL! We Loved the Family Room/Kitchen and Dining Room - Plenty of room for all 18 of us!! The Pool and Deck Areas were PERFECT after going to the beach or as an alternative to being at the beach all day. Couldn't be HAPPIER with our WEEK AT THE BEACH at Whale of Fortune! NEVER FELT CROWDED at all!! Kitchen had lots of room and was well stocked for cooking at the house! Walk to Beach was Easy- Good Exercise for all!! Great Rental, Well Maintained - You CANNOT go Wrong Staying Here with Your Family!!! THANKS :) Mary M.

The Whale of Fortune was absolutely perfect for our family of 16. It was clean and ready upon our arrival. We loved the pool and hot tub after going to the beach. Lots of great movies, games, etc to occupy any down time. I loved, loved it. Would highly recommend and would return here again.
