Down By The River - Remote Riverfront Cabin

Down by the River is your ideal family vacation spot, situated a few miles south of Alpine Helen, GA. This beautiful home is on the Chattahoochee River making it ideal for fishing, swimming, or canoeing!

This beautiful rustic cabin has vaulted ceilings and during cool fall & winter evenings, guests can gather around the gas-burning log fireplace. Gather with the family, pop some popcorn, and play board games, or enjoy sipping on a bottle of wine from local area wineries as you snuggle by the fire.

Down by the River has so many wonderful features! Guests can relax in the outdoor hot tub overlooking the river, or enjoy cooking out on the propane grill provided. Not guaranteed but you may be grilling some fresh-caught fish! What about all of the most popular games at your disposal? A game of billiard, air hockey, or ping pong for your enjoyment. Don't forget to bring the marshmallows and enjoy sitting around the outdoor fire pit.

It was a great house. Lots of room. Fun basement with games. The gas fireplace was nice on the freezing evenings. Was very sad the stairs were broken to the river. The driveway is quite intense.

The cabin has plenty of space inside and outside. Kitchen is well equipped. The beds are very comfortable Lower level game room is perfect for young kids and teens. Fire pit very relaxing

Black mold on ceiling

There was black mold all over the ceiling of the cabin. We had to leave the cabin at 1am and go to a hotel once we discovered it. Initially we had headaches and stuffy noses. My children with asthma started coughing. We noticed the mold on the ceiling and had to leave.

Family getaway

This is our second time staying at this cabin and we plan to return again in the near future. This cabin has all the space and amenities you would need. We loved drinking coffee while sitting by the river and making s’mores by the fire.

Wonderful experience

More than we had hoped for .so many games ,pool ,ping-pong ,air hockey ,horseshoes ,beanbag and then the outdoor fire pit and a river for fishing. so much ,wonderful gas fireplace so easy to use on a timer so we did not have to worry about it and the amenities everything was there everything we needed for a Thanksgiving weekend was there and I appreciate it so much .awesome and close to downtown Helena .that was another joyful time thank you

Nice place

The description was accurate. The property is nice. We were a party of 6 adults and everyone slept comfortably. There are three bedrooms, one with a queen bed and two with king beds. There is also a full bed and a day bed in the loft on the third floor. The river was a little too swift and we didn't catch any fish but it was quiet and relaxing and we saw lots of wildlife in the neighborhood and on the property. We did cook on site and nearly everything we needed to cook with was on site. We used the hot tub, played pool and other games on the first floor. The board games in the ottoman on the second floor are a mess, I wouldn't bother trying to sort through to find all of the pieces. The driveway is steep but we made it! Overall it we enjoyed our stay.

Secluded and Peaceful

We only stayed the weekend but would definitely stay here again. We didn’t even realize we had neighbors until the next day and still never seen or heard anyone. The house was nice and clean, check in was a breeze, and, well, just the peace and quiet we needed.

Excellent, Private and Room for the whole family!!

We had an awesome time at Down by the River! The property was clean and with plenty of room for my family of 7 to stretch out. We have 5 kids- 3 girls and 2 boys- the boys stayed in the game room the whole time, the girls in the upstairs loft and my husband and I in the main level master. We all had our own floor, it was perfect, private and so much fun! We plan to come back in the summer again so we can use the tubes to float down the river! We got to do s’mores over the fire pit at night and my husband enjoyed the hot tub!! Can’t wait to come back again!!

Wonderful down by the river

If you are looking for a beautiful stream in the backyard of your property, a lot of amenities inside the house and outside. This is a wonderful place for you. I would caution that the driveway coming in is rather steep, but doable.

Nice property with lots of room and amenities!

The house was very nice and well stocked. We brought a lot of extra things we didn't use as they were readily available in the cabin. The kids really enjoyed the river access and the adults enjoyed the pool table. Hot tub was so nice at the end of a busy day. The kids games were in rough shape... lots of missing or scattered pieces, but we had brought some of our own. The only negative comment I have is that the grass really needed mowed. But overall, everything was great!
