Luxury Cottage Style Stone House in Beautiful Location on Mizen Head Peninsula

The House at Libeen is situated 6 miles from Schull on the Mizen Peninsula in an elevated position with wonderful views from all windows over Dunmanus Bay, the Sheeps Head Peninsula, and Mount Gabriel.
It is a cottage style, stone built house in an acre garden which is totally enclosed by old stone walls where wild fuchsia grows in profusion.
The house is light, spacious, and furnished to a very high standard. It is well equipped, and can sleep 6 plus a baby very comfortably. The location is well placed to access Schull, Ballydehob (5 miles), and Baltimore (12 miles) on the Roaring Water Bay side of the peninsula as well as Bantry (7 miles), Glengariff (12 miles) and beyond on the Dunmanus Bay side, all of which have many excellent pubs and gourmet restaurants. The countryside around is beautiful and rugged and is good for hill walking and cycling. There are excellent golf courses in Bantry, Glengariff and Skibbereen plus lovely sandy beaches around Crookhaven and Barley Cove.....and the good news is: We do NOT charge extra for cleaning or utilities, plus wireless broadband is provided free.
Hill Walkers Paradise: Our house is situated in immediate proximity to The South Durrus and Mount Corrin Trail. There are fabulous views along this trail of Dunmanus Bay, Roaring Water Bay and the Mizen Peninsula - a must for those who like walking.

This truly was a home from home, and there was everything we needed in the house, from teabags to kitchen roll.The house is very isolated, as expected, but putting the eircode (zip code/post code) into the satnav literally brought us to the door!We had the usual mix of Irish weather, from blazing sunshine to torrential rain, but it was always pleasant to sit in the conservatory, no matter what the weather.We managed to get a table at Blairs Cove restaurant, and it was AMAZING! The food was among the best we have had anywhere, and we will definitely be returning. Booking is essential, though.Overall, I would highly recommend staying in this house, and the area in general.

A perfect place to call home in Ireland! The property is picture perfect, everything you could possibly imagine. A hiker/walker paradise. A must do trip to Durssey Island. Catherine is responsive and thoughtful.

Holiday house for family

This was a wonderful holiday house for us to use as a home base for exploring west cork. Well equipped for children and conveniently located to grocery stores and play grounds as well the sights of Ireland! We’re already talking about coming back!

A Fabulous Home in an Amazing Place

As we crested a hill along the small road to this incredible home, our jaws dropped at the sweeping view before us: brilliant green fields dropping away toward Dunmanus Bay, a long finger of glittering blue hemmed in by the Mizen Head and Sheep's Head peninsulas. Then we came to the home itself — and found ourselves even more astonished. Perched on the hill, it affords that same breathtaking view. Once inside, we found that we could take it all in from the home's beautiful and cozy sunroom. The rest of the home was equally appealing, with a lovely living room and dining area, comfortable and spacious bedrooms with access to modern bathrooms, a perfectly serviceable and equipped kitchen, and all of it furnished and decorated beautifully. We were a group of six, and the home accommodated all of us very well. Located on its own in a quiet rural setting, it is nonetheless close to the town of Schull, as well as all the places we wanted to visit, such as Mizen Head, Sheep's Head Lighthouse, the ferry to Cape Clear Island and Fastnet Rock, and many others. The location was also ideal for walking (and running) on quiet lanes to visit nearby standing rocks, stone circles and the top of Mount Corrin. We had such a wonderful time staying here that we were all terribly sad when we had to leave. We cannot wait to go back!

The house is perfecty appointed, spotlessly clean, and house management details, restaurant choices, and nearby things to see and do, all fully explained. The site itself is unbelievable: perfect views in all directions; house is located off a one lane path, so it is isolated and quiet, the locale everything you'd want from Irish countryside. Would have preferred an earlier checkin. 4 pm is pretty late. All in all, could nor recommend more highly. Jim, Jan & Dans.

Wonderful place to relax and enjoy the views.

This was our second stay at Libeen. It is a very private location with stunning views onto Dumanus Bay and up to Mount Gabreil. There is ample opportunity for walking to various sites of interest in the area. The far southwest of Cork is an amazing place. We had a fair amount of rain this stay, so we stayed inside more than usual, but we had no difficulty in keeping ourselves occupied - and enjoying the views of the storm going by from the sunroom. There was an unexpected maintenance issue during the stay. The owners promptly responded to our alert, and the matter was quickly attended to with no issues, delays, or impact on us. Look, any property can have a surprise maintenance problem. What matters is how the owners and their staff react. For this property, the owners and their staff have been first rate.

Wonderful house

Libeen house was perfect and exactly what we were looking for. We enjoyed the peaceful nature in and around the garden - the kids loved the bunnies which dropped by each morning - and the beautiful, dark night sky. The house lacked absolutely nothing. It is situated close to a lot of interesting places to visit and if you want to go out for s nice walk you can start from the gate. Again, it was a wonderful and restful holiday. Thank you so much for sharing this house.

Break in the wilds

Great Property, peaceful, lots of space for family & kids. Loads of personal extras , sports toys, books , movies available in house which made it very homely. Short drive to Sheeps Head, Schull. Nice hike up Mt Corrin near by. Recommended for a great break away from rush of normal life.

Quiet rural house with beautiful views

This well equipped house in a beautiful peaceful rural setting was an absolute pleasure to stay in. Five adults enjoyed a weeks holiday away from it all. Plenty of lovely walks on the doorstep as well as a large garden to sit in to watch the abundance of birds and other wildlife. A car is needed to get to shops etc. The house was spotlessly clean. We were very fortunate with the weather and saw West Cork in all it’s splendour.

Magical Libeen House

This was our second stay at Libeen House and we would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone wishing to explore West Cork. It really feels like a home away from home with every conceivable convenience available in the house. We expect to return again before too long. Perfect County Rental

We completely enjoyed our time at this home. The home was better than the pictures provided. The setting was amazing and we were able to go for beautiful walks without even getting in the car. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking, the beds and bedding were very comfortable. I would definitely like to come back in the future.

Very nice property. The house is spacious, comfortable and clean. We loved the sunroom and the privacy of the location. The views of the surrounding countryside are good, as well as the view down onto Dunmanus Bay. Sunsets over the bay were special. The house was clean and well kept on arrival. Although the owners do not live nearby, we always had a prompt, same-day communication and assistance. There was an unexpected maintenance issue upstairs and the owners were responsive to our message and got local people on site who could help. The quick assistance was appreciated. The staff worked around our schedule as best as possible. If we are in the area again in the future we will look to rebook. Thanks!

Superb fully equipped holiday home in beautiful West Cork setting.

Our experience was second to none. The property is a delight both as a place to rest and enjoy the house and gardens and from which to enjoy West Cork walking swimming, hiking, eating out, golfing, shopping and many more.

Home from home

We enjoyed a lovely week at Libeen. The house has everything a family would need. So comfortable and homely! The sunroom is a lovely addition and the views are beautiful from there, as well the upstairs bedrooms. Layout perfect for us…grandparents stayed in downstairs en suite bedroom and our family (3 kids plus parents) stayed in the two upstairs bedrooms with shared bathroom. Spotlessly clean when we arrived. Would highly recommend location, once you don’t mind a drive to shops/beaches. Lovely walks around the house and a huge garden for kids to safely run around in. Great house , amazing holiday

Gorgeous comfortable home, great layout. Cosy but spacious, and lots of character. We had a wonderful time, lots to do in surrounding area. Swimming, walks, food, markets. Kids mesmerised by bunnies on the lawn. House very well set up. Views from sun room stunning.

Amazing cottage in incredible location!

We absolutely loved our stay in Libeen House. The location of this beautiful stone cottage is simply breathtaking. Everything was just as advertised and the hosts couldn't have been more helpful. We would highly recommend Libeen House for anyone looking for a unique rural escape in West Cork.
