We moved to West Cork many years ago, and from time to time we rent out our guesthouse (SKYFALL Cottage) to visitors.
We live here year-round in SKYFALL Lodge, the main house right next door.
The rural SKYFALL estate is ideally located for those seeking relaxation, hikers, anglers, water sports enthusiasts, and nature and animal lovers.
The property enjoys an absolutely peaceful location on a cul-de-sac and a private road, with only farms in the neighborhood. Hiking trails start right at your doorstep.
The rocky coast is within walking distance, and with a little luck, you can regularly spot dolphins, sea otters, gray seals, common seals, northern gannets, whales, and basking sharks there.
Stunning little coves are right nearby.
From the cottage, you already have a breathtaking view of Dunmanus Castle, Dunmanus Harbor, Dunmanus Bay, and the Atlantic Ocean, as well as the mountains of the Mizen Peninsula.
The shoreline is about 500 meters away.
The colorful towns of Bantry and Skibbereen are just over 20 minutes away, and Schull—only a few kilometers away—can be reached in about 10 minutes.
Vibrant cities like Cork and Killarney are about an hour and a half’s drive away, while Glengariff, the Caha Pass, and Kenmare are about 30 and 45 minutes away, respectively.
Surroundings: A rocky beach 500 meters away, Mizen Head Signal Station, Barley Cove & Ballyrisode Beach (both sandy), Three Castle Head, Fastnet Rock, ferry connections to Heir Island, Long Island, Sherkin Island, and Cape Clear (some departing directly from Schull), Mount Gabriel, and much more.
Thanks to our unique location (40 meters above sea level), enjoy unobstructed views of “picture-perfect Ireland.”
We serve breakfast eggs straight from the coop (when the flock is laying well), seasonal fish we’ve caught and smoked ourselves (when the fish are biting), and apples from our own trees (late summer and fall). We’re happy to guide anglers at any time; equipment can be rented (for a fee).
If you’d like, you can also join us on a boat trip out into the bay—at your own risk and by prior arrangement. We’re regularly out on the water with our “Olivia” (moored within sight of our property)... even just for the fun of it.
Due to its farm setting (barn, pasture, greenhouse, etc.), SKYFALL is not suitable for children under 14 years of age. Although we have plenty of open and green space—and the garden around the cottage alone covers about 800 square meters—you won’t find a manicured English lawn here. It’s uneven, wild, and natural—and we only remove what really “gets in the way.”
For couples seeking relaxation, tranquility, and a breathtaking starry sky free from distracting city lights in the heart of Ireland’s natural beauty, SKYFALL is the perfect destination.
