Malu Kauai is situated in a small neighborhood called Niumalu. Three miles from Lihue town core this 1 bed/1 bath detached home is centrally located, clean and well cared for by the Owners. Includes a full kitchen, a lanai with awning, an outdoor grill, washer/dryer room for your exclusive use, easy parking, and is fully air conditioned.

The famous Duke’s Canoe Club, with its ocean view dining, live music and Hawaiian Hospitality, is just a mile away as well as Kalapaki Beach and the Kauai Marriott Hotel. Also nearby are both Anchor Cove and the Harbor Mall for more dining options and tons of shopping and activity services. Safeway and Costco are approximately 3 miles away for days you want to shop and cook at home.

Lihue is our central seat of government with State and County buildings along historic Rice St., Wilcox Hospital, Kukui Grove mall, Kauai Museum, Grove Farm Museum, Puakea Golf Course, Kauai Community College and many local businesses and eateries. Don't miss Kauai Beer Company or Kauai Pasta on Rice Street or Verde and Kenji Burger at the Hokulei Shopping Village. Oh and Robs Good Times Grill at Rice Shopping Center is GREAT for lunch also, large menu in a sports bar style atmosphere.

If a Luau is calling you visit Kilohana Plantation for their Kalamaku Luau, quite a show only 3 miles away! Kilohana Plantation also hosts Koloa Rum Company's tasting room and store, and tours of the historic grounds. Very cool!

Nawiliwili Harbor is close by for Cruise Ship and container arrivals and Huleia River is steps down the road for kayaking or fishing tours or the Menehune Fish Pond Overlook. Nawiliwili harbor can sometimes a bit noisy during the day as ships arrive but we have had very few complaints about that. Hulemalu Rd. also functions as a bypass road for locals going to and from work daily, usually 6-8 am and 3-5 pm are higher traffic times.

With all the options you have, please consider Lihue town for its easy location to all sides of the island and a plethora of things to do as the locals would. You will enjoy all it has to offer.

What a great cottage! We loved our stay at Malu Kauai. It was absolutely amazing and had everything we needed - full kitchen, bedroom, living room and washer/dryer. The Aloha Welcome basket was an unexpected treat. The location was perfect, allowing us time to explore Koloa, Poipu and Waimea Canyon before heading to the North Shore. This was our 20th trip to Hawaii - Kauai & the Big Island of Hawaii are our two favorite islands. I loved seeing the Peacocks and snails. We will return to Kauai and hope to stay at the Malu Kauai again. We highly recommend this cottage! Aloha & Mahalo, Carolyn & Barry

We had a lovely stay here. The location worked out nicely as we had easy access to the entire island. The property is located in a quiet and safe area with the luxury of hearing live music in the evenings from the inn across the road.

Aloha- The unit was exactly as was described on the site. We greatly enjoyed our stay even with the crazy weather that Hawaii had these past few days. A few things to note: if this is your first trip to the Islands, the road to the unit is winding and seems to be off the beaten path. It is not. It is a beautiful drive as you make your way and just enjoy the view. As with all the islands the wild chickens are everywhere and the roosters will be an alarm clock for you. The unit has everything you need, but stop and get you some coffee and food essentials before you arrive. If you are a Costco member it is less than 5 minutes away. As a comparison of things: lunch in one of the food places averages 40/50 for two people but Costco cost us 6 for two hotdogs . Again - great place to stay and would do it again and the host communication was superb.

Cozy cottage

Great location. We appreciated little things like a welcome basket, umbrellas and the live music at night being that we could hear from the hotel across the street. We had a very nice stay.

The sweet little cottage was perfect. Very nicely furnished, comfortable, kitchen and bathroom stocked with all the basics, nice welcome basket, Nd the shaded porch is a gift, and particularly special after dark. Neighborhood is so quiet, except for the inevitable roosters crowing in the morning, which is simply a reminder of being in rural Kaua’i. Only drawbacks are that no services or beaches are within walking distance, but since you know that beforehand, no complaints. And the drive is beautiful! Mahalo to Marti.

Much needed Rest

We enjoyed our time here and will stay again. Loved the live music on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays nights at the property directly across the way. The Peacocks are beautiful free roaming. Property is as advertised, short walk to Kalapaki beach, shopping, restaurants, and all activities are really close.

Lovely little cottage

Nice property

We stayed here before and was really impressed with the upgrades they have done by adding an AC unit in the living room. We like staying here because of the location and the owners are always super helpful.

Hawaiian Paradise: A Perfect Stay!

Absolutely loved my stay at this home in Hawaii! The location was fantastic, with stunning views. The accommodation itself was clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. Cozy cottage with plenty of amenities

The property was one of the best rentals we've ever stayed at. It was clean, the furniture was comfortable (a rarity), and an array of amenities were available to use i.e. cooking utensils, beach chairs, and umbrellas. And it was close enough to the highway all of the island was easily accessible.

Another great stay

We come every year and this property has always been our favorite. We love seeing the chickens, ducks, and peacocks roaming around the neighborhood. The mountains are mesmerizing and everything we need is in this little cottage. We will be here again next year!

Nice little house!

Thoroughly enjoyed our 5 night stay. Good location even with the bridge closure. Less traffic. Able to walk to Duke's. Enjoyed music at the Kauai Inn across the street and wandering peacocks. House adequately stocked. Welcome basket greatly appreciated!

Our Own Hawaiian Cottage

A very central location to wandering the entire island. A nice neighborhood with a lovely choir of roosters, peacocks, and doves. The cottage has met all our needs - spacious and comfortable.

Charming home! I want to live there:) not too small not too big. Clean. Great location. The bridge is closed but it’s Hawai’i… It’s right by my parents property - this is our new go to! Mahalo

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Very Nice Cottage

We just loved the property. It was clean, neat and well maintained. Had wifi, which was important to us as our Verizon service evidently had a dead spot there. The location was convenient to everything we toured over the 6 days we were there. Would return again next trip.

Thanks Steve! Verizon is usually the MOST reliable cell phone service on the island. I'll look into this. Hopefully it was just an unusual event. If need be, we'll add a cell phone booster to the unit for improved service. Thank you again, please visit again next time!

Perfect location

Great stay in Kauai! The only thing I would change is to update the living room furniture. It is currently very nice outdoor furniture and after a long day in the island, it would be nice to sit on a couch to watch a movie! Amazing facilities overall. Would book again in the future!
