Country Living in the Heart of Louisiana

Ready for short-term or vacation rental: one-bedroom ground level apartment, fully furnished, king bed, modern kitchen, two full baths (one ADA compliant), laundry in-house, and a full-size sofa/futon in the living room for extra sleeping space. This short-term rental is part of an emerging small working farm and bed and breakfast. Enjoy fresh, seasonal produce and warm Louisiana hospitality. We have installed a whole house water filtration system which means fresh tasting water for drinking as well as chemical free water for bathing/washing.

Located in the heart of Louisiana, Ethel is a quiet, rural community in beautiful East Feliciana Parish, which is part of an area known as the Florida Parishes. Nestled among several historic towns, Ethel is just 30 minutes from the capital city of Baton Rouge and the campus of Louisiana State University, and just two hours from New Orleans. Historic towns and cities within a short drive of Ethel are Clinton (founded in 1824), Jackson (founded in 1815), St. Francisville (established in 1809), and just a short trip across the John James Audubon Bridge is New Roads which began as a trading post in the 1720s. These historic towns and cities offer much in the way of history, antiques, cuisine, and many other attractions. If you’re an LSU or Southern University sports fan you can enjoy a quiet stay in the country while attending your favorite college sports.

Other attractions near your stay: Just 4 miles from Belle Terre is Barnhill Preserve where you can experience a hands-on encounter with exotic animals. June through early July is exciting with berry picking at several “you-pick” blueberry orchards nearby. Port Hudson State Historic Site is a short dive away. And, the city of Zachary is just a 20 minute drive from Ethel, where you can find many city conveniences and food choices to suit any tastes.

A little out of the way place perfect for a restful stay. Julie and Greg greeted me when I arrived. My stay included breakfast that Julie personalized for my dietary needs. So much better than a motel. Traveling alone, I felt safe here. It was very clean and accommodating. The washer and dryer was a bonus. Julie and Greg provided everything you need and more. I have never stayed anywhere else that provided so many perks and extras. Look forward to my next visit when I can learn more about their farm.

We absolutely loved this slice of paradise in this remote town… everything was perfect. She has an awesome work out room and set up, breakfast was amazing, and she was an absolute pleasure to work with. If we had questions she was super receptive and prompt. I can’t say enough about this wonderful venue.. def 5 stars!

Our host was very cordial, the Bed and Breakfast was clean and smelled wonderful.We were greeted by a very friendly cat who stood guard by our door. There were lots of places to dine, we stopped at The Francis Smokehouse, Central City Steak & Seafood to mention a few; while we visited family in the area. We plan to return again. Had the most wonderful time staying here!! Julie is fantastic and has the most amazing communication I’ve ever had with a host. The entire place is so clean and smells amazing. The farm sounds were very soothing and we just had the most amazing time.

Belle Terre Farm B&B is clean, well kept, furnished with modern amenities. Julie & Gregg are gracious hosts who take good care of the guests. We enjoyed learning about the plants, herbs and the interactions with the animals on the farm. At Belle Terre Farm, we experienced Southern hospitality at its best.

This stay was absolutely perfect. Julie could not have been any more welcoming when we arrived by reviewing everything, explaining her gardens, and recommending area visitor attractions. Cleanliness and set-up was quite possibly the best we have ever had. Prior to our arrival she asked what, if anything, she could have for us so we would not immediately have to do grocery shopping. I have a particular dietary need which she had ready for us! Wonderful weekend and we are already excited about next year. Julie, you have earned a guaranteed multi-visit customer with my wife and I. Thank you!!

The owner was wonderful. She accommodated me last minute. She also supplied breakfast items, which was a nice touch. The place was very clean with all the amenities you could want when staying away from home. Her fresh tea blends and homemade honey were amazing too. Overall, it was a wonderful stay.

THE HOST WAS AMAZING!!!! She went over and beyond any host I ever had renting a VRBO. We stayed on a farm and she took the time out to show us around her beautiful land. The amenities in the apartment were perfect. It was all we needed and we didn't need much, but it was extremely comfortable and had everything we needed. I would recommend this VRBO to anyone who wants to stay in the country outside of Baton Rouge.

Perfect weekend getaway

This was just what we needed for a quick weekend getaway. The property was peaceful & the house was well stocked with more than we could have asked for. We will definitely be back the next time we find ourselves out this way.

A Wonderful Accommodation

Peaceful, clean, and secure. The hosts met with us personally and made sure that we had everything we needed. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Owners Julie Doucet and Gregg Pettis dreamed of a place in the country where the hustle and bustle of the city can fade into crickets, fireflies, and a serenade by frogs. A particular dream was to have a more self-reliant life, producing their own food and having a more active lifestyle. While not completely finished, their dream of living the ultimate farm-to-table life is well on its way with a 5,500 square foot raised-bed garden, which is already productive. Belle Terre has one established colony of honey bees from which honey is harvested each July. The chicken "palace" is currently under construction. Soon to be added are other farm animals such as chickens, rabbits, and goats.

This property held so much promise for the vision that Julie and Gregg had of a sustainable, country life. While it took some work to get it from the 1,900 sq ft beginning to it's current spacious 4,000 sq ft accommodations, they have enjoyed making this place their own.
