Frog Hollow located on private Finely Lake

Frog Hollow is a cozy 2 bedroom, 1 bath cottage with a level yard, close to the water’s edge of Finley Lake. One bedroom has a queen bed, the other has 2 bunk beds. Both the living room and combination kitchen/ dining area look out over the lake through large picture windows. A wood burning fireplace, 2 window-unit air conditioners and ceiling fans keep the cottage comfortable in all types of weather. A large deck across the front of the cottage and a screened porch allows for ample outdoor seating.

Finley Lake is 108 acres in size. It is approximately 26 feet deep at its deepest point. Anglers can expect to catch a variety of fish including Bluegill and Largemouth Bass. Crystal clear water makes Finley Lake one of the best for swimming. Frog Hollow is located on a private lake with no public boat landing lake; there are nearby public boat launches on other neighboring lakes.

Extra amenities include Kayak, canoe, paddle boat and floating raft.

Not a great experience

If you are hauling a boat, this is not a good option. Before booking, I asked if you could fairly easily park a boat trailer at the property and was told yes. While, technically, it might be possible for a small trailer for someone with many, many years of experience, it certainly not easy. We luckily found somewhere we could pay to leave our boat for the week, but even without a boat, I don’t recommend the property. For anyone with a large vehicle, it is extremely hard to turn around at the end of the driveway. It was also not very clean, and all the furniture was very uncomfortable. Even the sheets and one provided towel were very scratchy and in need of replacing. There was also a spider infestation in the yard, which to be fair it’s a wooded area so hard to control, but the hidden key was placed were you were required to fight the hoard. We won’t be staying here again.

Relaxing Stay in the Northwoods

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We spent a week on the property and had a great trip. This is a small cottage with rustic Up North charm. Cottage is original with minimal updates but was all we needed. 6 to sleep would be tight but with kids the bunk beds work. Screened porch and being on a mostly small private lake was the best. Unit has essentials. No weeds really at all in lake. Pros: privacy, use of little boat/paddle boat/kayak, overall cute cottage w/lake views and Anchor rental is responsive, located between St. Germain and Eagle River Cons: driveway is on downward slope/parking, no dishwasher, not updated unit, ATV/road is active off main road, wifi worked but spotty at times

Nostalgic and welcoming

This property was so cute and welcoming for our family of 4.5 (2 adults, 2 boys…and a Boston Terrier) Sleeping arrangements were comfortable. Kitchen had everything needed (primarily grilled out on charcoal grill.) Living room area could somehow use more seating but not sure how. Wildlife was in abundance with chipmunks and squirrels entertaining morning and night. Raccoons in morning and evening along with a family of bald eagles and loons throughout the day. Lake was not too busy but enough entertainment from the camp across the lake which was so great to see. Made our boys a bit jealous we could not rent a boat…but not a bad thing if you just want to swim during the day and fish early morning/evenings off the pier. Swam daily in the clear water. Could use an easier entrance/exit at shallow end. One concern is the window air conditioner in kitchen. Works great BUT drops in the porch area with no hose or something to catch the immense amount of water it spits out. We put a bucket and unplugged lamp that was right outside and emptied daily(or 2x). Overall, a nice place to stay and would recommend.

Cabin is so quaint sitting in a hollow close to the water. Exactly the kind of cabin we were looking for. Had a wonderful experience there. There was a situation that arouse during our stay. We were very pleased how Anchor rental, the management company,handled the problem along with the owner of the cabin. Thanks again Anchor Rental.

Family vacation

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. Since this was our first time, we were not as familiar with all of the amenities that we shared with the cabin rental next door. After a couple of days, we were made aware of them and really enhanced our stay. The location was very convenient to town as well.
