The cabin was great only issue was finding firewood. There was no book on what was expected to do when leaving and what switches went to which lights and fans. We would definitely rent this cabin again

The view is as advertised and the house is very well stocked. The host is very responsive and had helpful tips so that we enjoyed home even more. Itā€™s very relaxing sitting on the screened porch in the rocking chairs. We will stay again for sure.

The Bear Den was so clean when we arrived. My adult daughter and I were both so impressed by how homey it felt. Warm and inviting. It was a rainy week while we were there and so pleasant to be in the house. Since it is pet friendly we thought there might be an odor but there wasnā€™t. We both enjoy cooking and were amazed by how well appointed the kitchen is. I have never stayed at a VRBO that was as well equipped. The screened porch is awesome. Such a wonderful spot to sit in nature with hot tea or coffee. The beds were comfortable too. Jenna was very helpful in getting into the house when we arrived. Apparently we didnā€™t read the details and were trying to enter incorrectly. She was helpful while planning our trip also. (Thank you!)There is just nothing negative to say. It was all good.

Such a sweet mountain home with comfortable beds, a cozy living room, clean bathrooms, a stocked kitchen, and an amazing view from the back porch! The driveway is super steep, but we got used to it and couldnā€™t beat the view it provided. Franklin is lovely and not far from many other mountain towns, waterfalls, and other adventures. We had our three kids with us (5, 9, and 11). The stairs had a latched gate, the porch was screened in, and there was plenty of space inside to play.

Best location in Flanklin to go anywhere in western NC. Open floor plan and a true homey feel. Kitchen complete for anything you need. Screened in front porch makes bird watching a perfect setting.

We stayed four weeks in July/Aug 2025 and enjoyed it immensely. Morning coffee on the porch watching the birds and enjoying the view. When family visited, there was so much to do that we stayed busy every day. Tubing, white water rafting, hiking, visiting waterfalls, shopping and just sitting on the porch. House has everything you need and the neighbors are friendly. Great stores and restaurants close by. We have already booked for next year.

Always enjoy staying here.

This is the 4th time (I think) that we've chosen to stay here, because of the great location near town, while still being out in a woodsy area. Very comfortable inside and well equipped with the necessities.

Great place to decompress

The place is well kept. It has everything you need while away from home. The kitchen is equipped with everything need to prepare any meal. We had excellent communication both before and during our stay with Jenna. Great view off of the completely screened front porch. Overall, our stay was excellent, if we find ourselves back in the Franklin area, we will stay again.

Great Holiday Stay at the Bear Den

This was our 2nd stay at the Bear Den. The house is cozy and very well appointed. The beds are the most comfortable we have ever slept on. The stay was a little to cool for much time on the porch, but we certainly enjoyed the fireplace! Convenient for Polar Express Train, Franklin and Dillaboro.

Anniversary 41 years

Awesome! Perfect location several towns within driving distance. We went to the pumpkin roll festival in Franklin and the next day we went to a festival in Maggie valley. We visited Highlands, cashiers, Sylva, Waynesville and Maggie valley. The Bear den has the perfect view. So relaxing to sit on the porch in a rocking chair and enjoy the view. It never gets old. We would definitely go back and we highly recommend this place.

Fantastic Home

We loved the location close to everything yet very private with the most beautiful view of the mountains. We were there during the storms in western NC. We never lost power or the internet. Watching the TV of all the destruction news man said if you can see this you are among the few. It's our new favorite place to stay.

The Bear Den

This is a great place to charge your batteries. The bird feeder brings in Squirrels, and a huge variety of birds. We never turned on the TV. For 5 days and it was bliss.
