weekend of peace

Bright and Comfortable

Diana and Simon's house was perfect for our extended family stay. It was very well equipped, bright and comfortable, and a perfect place to have as a base while we attended a wedding.

Lovely stay!

Very nice home in a beautiful area on a nature reserve. The house had everything we could possibly need, including a welcome pack full of goodies! Communication with the owner was easy, and a lot of information about the house and the area was shared. The key was easily accessible in a key lock outside.

Amazing holiday

We stayed in Humperdinck for 2 nights and what a lovely little house it is! We found it very homely and clean. The neighbours were lonely and gave us ideas of places to visit. We loved playing with the games and enjoyed having dinner in the garden! Thank u for letting us stay in ur lovely home x

So pleased you had a good time and enjoyed Humperdink. There is some much to see and do in that area, there never seems enough time, even for us! However, we love to just enjoy the peace, scenery and relaxing atmosphere in and around Humperdink.

Bank Holiday wknd getaway

We had some wet weather and some dry sunny weather. Humperdink is perfect for both. The cottage is more than adequately equipped for a relaxing stay and is very welcoming. We had some very enjoyable walks exploring around the area . Will definitely recommend a stay and hope ti come back in the future.

Peaceful and relaxing

We wanted to be somewhere quiet and relaxing so our nervous dog wouldn't be disturbed by the fireworks! Humperdink was the ideal location! Although the weather wasn't great the cottage was cosy and warm. The welcome basket was a nice thought too, thank you

Beautiful,comfortable cotage

The cottage is very nice and comfortable . It is situated in a beautiful and peaceful location. The area is very safe for children and the lambs are a great attraction for them( Children were helping to feed the lambs ). The area is great for walking and exploring. The owners are very friendly and extremely helpful. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. Thank you. We had a great time.

Peace and quiet

We stayed for a few days in this house and found it very clean, well equipped, comfortable and just what we wanted. It is probably a rare find on this coast. We walked to the beach most evenings to watch the sunset (about 20 minutes stroll across the nature reserve) and enjoyed the special quality of peace that surrounded us all through our stay. Breakfasts on the patio and suppers on the bench at the front. Very nice neighbours - not intrusive - just friendly with lots of advice to offer if you needed it. The road down to the cottage needs care when driving, but it fine if you negotiate it sensibly. Altogether a beautiful holiday and I would recommend it to anyone.

We had a wonderful stay at Humperdinck. The house was cute, clean and comfortable but it was the location that made our stay! The house is located on the edge of marshlands (full of samphire). In the field over the hedge were cows which my son found endlessly entertaining but frustrating…he wanted to feed them.One highlight was when a cow (we named her Betty) escaped onto the road and had to be coaxed back into the field by the farmer.Humperdinck is ideal if you’re looking for somewhere away from it all but within driving distance of pretty villages, seaside resorts and cultural hubs (Colchester).I would say the beach isn’t terribly accessible for those used to city living (tide times?!! Welly boots!) but that didn’t distract from everything else the place has to offer. All in all if you’re a nature and sea lover looking for a peaceful but comfortable base - you’ve found the place!

What a find! Unique and Quirky

The owners were very prompt with all email contacts and very helpful with information supplied about the property. The photos on the website give a great indication of the remoteness of Humperdink- two miles from a road, so incredibly peaceful. I loved the wooden floors and tiny stairs which added to a "beach house" charm and the squishy sofas were welcome when we did get a day's bad weather. We were there for the hot Bank Holiday and the sunset was stunning. I have rented many holiday lets and Humperdink is certainly the most impressively equipped I've stayed in . The owners are gracious about dogs who are welcome everywhere except on the beds. The garden isn't enclosed and next door have sheep and cats but all of this is made clear on booking. My dog had a lovely time. Overall I wish I'd booked for longer just to laze around the cottage!

Cute cottage in such a peaceful location and only minutes walk from the sea. We had a relaxing time and Reg our dog loved all the new places to explore. Hosts kept in regular contact throughout our stay which was reassuring.

Toller Aufenthalt in schöner Umgebung – gerne wieder!

Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt in dieser Ferienwohnung. Die Umgebung ist wirklich traumhaft – perfekt zum Entspannen und für Ausflüge in die Natur. Alles war genau so, wie es in der Beschreibung angegeben war, sodass wir uns gut orientieren konnten.Die Gastgeber waren absolut herzlich und hilfsbereit – hier merkt man sofort, dass Gastfreundschaft großgeschrieben wird. Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und würden jederzeit wiederkommen.Ein kleiner Verbesserungsvorschlag: Bei der Sauberkeit der Wohnung, insbesondere bei Details wie Oberflächen oder Küchensachen, gibt es noch etwas Luft nach oben. Das trübt aber den insgesamt sehr positiven Gesamteindruck nur minimal.Insgesamt ein toller Urlaub in einer schönen Unterkunft mit perfekten Gastgebern – vielen Dank!

Peaceful retreat

Easy process, great house, cosy, warm, brilliantly equipped. The views are brilliant, big skies, abundant wildlife, the area is so quiet I forgot everything that I was stressed about. Lovely decor too. Overall a really relaxing stay in a great house.

A cosy cottage in a remote location

We spent a very enjoyable few days at the cottage. Although the weather was cold outside, the cottage was warm and comfortable. It is clean and well-maintained and has the feel of a well-loved home rather than a holiday let. We enjoyed some excellent walking in the area and would love to return in the summer months.

A comfortable house in a beautiful location

We had a lovely stay in Humperdink. The cottage is very nice and comfortable and the location is stunning and so peaceful. As a frazzled NHS worker this was just the relaxing break that I needed.
