Close to my favorite beach

Poipu was an amazing beach and my favorite of the trip. Wish I had stayed here the whole time and avoided the North Princeville area. Stay here and do day visits to the North and West. Princeville is overpriced and not worth it. This place was great.

Oasis

This was a wonderful place. The property was well maintained with amazing gardens. There was a salt water pool and an area to relax. There were also barbeques that we used twice and both times they had been cleaned from any previous users. The house had everything we needed, from a stocked kitchen, washer and dryer, beach towels and chairs, fans to cool us down and very comfortable bed. The location was very close to beaches, shops, and places to eat. We highly recommend this place.

Not a big fancy resort but very nice accommodation and pool. We extended our trip by 4 nights and needed a place that was reasonably priced and this fit us nicely. A little warm at times without ac but the fans did a fair job. Great for families.

Kauai Garden Retreat

Very nice, ground floor condo in the popular Poipu Beach area. Large condo, older but well maintained. Beautiful garden like gounds. Two negatives - 1) This condo is not air conditioned. This was listed at bottom of Owners description but I missed it. 2) Kauai is overrun with wild chickens. The roosters will keep you up at night especially with windows open to cool.

Great location

Condo was perfect for our needs. Full size refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave made it easy to eat and clean up in a hurry. Back patio has a beautiful view and we were treated to visits from several different types of birds. Closet was full of things for the beach like chairs and boogie boards. Everything thing we needed and we’re looking forward to coming back next year:)

Reviewer Comments: We were only in Poipu for two days and did not spend a lot of time in the condo. It met our needs and the area was quiet but the unit was otherwise dark. The location to shops and restaurants was an easy drive.

We enjoyed our stay. The condo was clean. I didn’t take note that the unit did not have A/C. But there were plenty of fans, so we made do. It is a bit dated but I have no issue with that. Lovely landscaping and pool areas.

Nice one bedroom unit with extra bed, plus sofa bed, and futon. Price reasonable for unit, although only one bathroom. Enjoyed having kitchen and laundry.Knew that unit did not have a/c, but quite warm during summer nights. Ceiling fan in living room only had one speed (not fast - hopefully you can repair fan to increase air flow).Lockbox is a bit cumbersome to relock with key inside. Lock would not catch because key with ring does not lie flat and when lock does not engage, have to reenter code.

Mahalo for your review! We're glad you enjoyed the home. The fan has been replaced. The lock box is a standard design, and most people don't have a problem with it. We include full instructions for operating the lock box for people who are unfamiliar with it.

Great location and great place to stay.

This unit was much larger than I had expected. The bedroom with the king bed is a very good size. Also, the queen bed is right off the dining room, but it worked out nicely. There was plenty of space and it didn't bother anyone that the bed was there. In addition, the living room area is large and it has an extra futon sofa/bed. We are a family of five with three adult daughters and we all fit comfortably in the condo. Poipu beach is within walking distance of the unit (about 5 or 10 min). It takes only two minutes to get to the boardwalk along the beach for a great walk. Also, beach chairs, boogie boards, snorkels/masks/fins were all provided and we made great use of all the equipment! Would definitely stay here again! The only drawbacks were the lack of air conditioning, but there are ceiling fans and portable fans in each room. When the windows are open, there is a great breeze running through the unit. The air is stale and smells are more prevalent.

Aloha Catherine, thanks for the great review. The trade winds usually provide great air flow &fans if needed. The louvered windows make A/C difficult w/of blocking them. Plus electricity is very expensive& rates would go up. Hope you stay again. We always plan upgrades as time permits. THE botanical like garden has a wide variety of blooms & smells. Great location close to Poipu beach and amenities

We had a great vacation in your apartment, there is a lot of space in its largely open plan design. We loved the large bed in the master suite. The kitchen, though quite small is well equipped and we had everything we need to cook on a number of occasions. We were very grateful for the additional fans in the apartment, but despite that it was very hot and humid, partly due to the lack of trades during the time of our visit. An A/C unit at least in the bedroom would have been welcomed. The apartment is on a great and mature lot that is well matained by the ground staff. The size of some of the plants have to be seen to be believed. The downside is the apartment is quite dark meaning you need lights during the day. A review of the lighting available would be worthwhile. The location is only about a mile from the main Poipu beach and a about two from historic Koloa, both of which I can recommend. The main town of Lihue is only about 20 minutes by car and you have all the facilities you could ever need. I have now stayed on 5 of the islands and to me Kauai is king for its maturity, great beaches and great planning controls ensuring that buildings remain in context. Within Kauai, I think the Poipu area is the best on the island being in easy reach of everything you could want. Thank you for a great stay.

Thanks for the review. The house rules allowing new quite A/C units is being developed. Electricity is very expensive due to it being mainly produced by oil fired generators. Solar production is minimal. When the guidelines for A/C units are approved I will find out from year around owners the added expense & feasibility. At present monthly electric costs are about $125+. The tall trees on the west side provide a lot of shade in the late afternoon. The front lanai vegetation reaches 7 to 8 ft. and may need thinning and trimming. NEW LED kitchen lights & other brighter lamps. NEW SEALY King bed set. Mahalo John

We highly recommend this property and would stay there again!!!

The grounds @ Waikomo are a botanical delight. If It's raining head west to Kekaha if it's not sunny there it's not sunny anywhere.Mahalo to John ; the owner , who was staying elsewhere on the island to accommodate our stay. Very helpful but not intrusive. He also arranged for a late departure time. I have a disabled son so the concern was much appreciated!

Only issues were that the lockbox code initially given was incorrect, which made for a stressful initial 10 minutes when we arrived with baby screaming. They handled it over the phone very quickly though. There was no beach umbrella with the beach items, and, despite the many many fans, the condo did get a bit hot. Wasn't an issue for us but we are a bit concerned about our infant! Overall condo was great and I would recommend.

Spacious Poipu Condo

My family and I had a wonderful time staying at Waikomo Stream Villas #401! It’s quite roomy with all we needed to enjoy our time there on beautiful Kaua’i. The beds were comfy. I liked the ground floor location because of my arthritis—didn’t have to climb stairs. We appreciated the extra fans as July gets quite warm. There is a variety of snorkel gear and boogie boards. The location is great-just a short walk to see the gorgeous sunsets. Also walking distance to a large new shopping center with a Longs and many restaurants, including an amazing ice cream place! A couple of minutes drive to Poipu Beach too. The grounds have lush mature plants and sweet koi ponds. The pool is quite nice. We especially enjoyed the new barbecue gazebo right next to Waikomo Stream. My only negative comments would be some new pillows are needed as some had a musty smell—which is hard to avoid in the islands! Also, some cupboards need a good wiping -same smell. One light fixture in the kitchen seems to need fixing. Other than that, it was a very comfortable condo! The many positives outweigh the negatives by FAR. We hope to be back!!

Aloha & Mahalo for your review. All pillows have water& sweat proof zippered covers under the pillow case & will be relaundered. The two new kitchen LED lights have 8 lenses that may need adjusting. Nice sized unit on first floor with nice patio. The unit has all the necessities as well as many items for the beach. We brought ours with us, but it would be great for anyone who didn't.

Fantastic property

John and Mike are amazing to deal with. They are extremely helpful when we needed a medical recommendation. The condo is fantastic and we will definitely stay there again. The location is perfect and the property is very well maintained. It is very quiet and we did not hear the family renting above us. The condo has everything you need and this was wonderful as we prefer to eat in and then head out for a nightcap. Thank you John for sharing your condo with us.

Spacious clean condo close to Kukuilula shopping center that has wed. farmers market 3:30 pm. & live music, only a short walk across st. Beautiful pool & BBQ areas. Nice Place--convenient location

Beautiful, clean condo just steps away from an upscale shopping plaza full of great restaurants. The grounds are pretty but be careful on the walkways as there are a lot of spiderwebs. Well stocked with condiments, spices books and games. One suggestion would be to add beach umbrellas/chairs, etc. The WiFi tends to be a bit wonky and the bedroom TV doesn't work. . .minor stuff really compared to the overall value of the place.

nice and simple place in good location

My family of 4 (2 adults, 3 yr old, and 4 month old) enjoyed our time at the condo. We liked the location, the landscaping, and found the condo. to be very comfortable. Although it would have been nice to have a drying rack for towels and clothes. There signs everywhere to conserve energy and hang wet things but not easy to do without a rack. There were a few hangers for above the toilet, but would be nice to hang wet swim gear somewhere not above a toilet-- less chance of falling in.

Aloha Julie, glad you had a great time. Four towel bars in bathroom. Drying racks are not permitted on the outside Lanais. Will consider one inside. Mahalo John

I absolutely and without a doubt enjoyed my stay at the Waikomo Stream Villa,felt like home

The property had an excellent curb appeal, truly paradise. The interior was very clean and felt like home.Exstreamly comfortable, and was equipped with all the gear for water sports activities. Also was well stocked with dishes, glasses, pots, pans etc. The beds were very comfortable. A real plus was having washer and dryer. The owner John Tillman, was extremely helpful with any questions that I had both prior to arrival and while on site. I personally can’t wait to return to Kauai, and without a doubt I would call John Tillman, and reserve his property for my stay. Also the pool area was very nice for a morning swim and evening dip. I truly enjoyed my stay in Kauai,however, the condo made my vacation that much more relaxing !! Thank you John Tillman, for taking such pride in your property. Sincerely, Ernie

Thanks so much for the very nice review. My wife & I enjoy Kauai & Waikomo...our home away from home too. Will be happy to put an early hold on your dates when you return. The longer you stay the harder it is to leave. Health & happiness..John
