Sobre esta propriedade
Tranquil And Spacious Rural Home For Winding Down
Beautifully renovated farmhouse, over 150m living space. The house is great in summer for drinks on the terrace and games on the lawn; while in winter you can enjoy long walks in the local area and return to roaring fire, and my book and board games collection... If you're thinking of a family Xmas, the large open 'barn conversion' at the end of the house allows for one impressive Christmas tree!... Open-plan fully equipped kitchen (large hob and oven, dishwasher and washing machine), 2 large living / dining rooms (30m2 and 50m2), There are 4 bedrooms (2 double bedrooms, two/three singles in twin room, one double futon on mezzanine) and two fully equipped bathrooms (one whirlpool corner bath), so ideal for family or couples. I have plenty of wood in the barn to heat downstairs (two wood-burning stoves and one open fire), while electric heaters keep the upstairs conversion toasty warm in winter. Approximately 6,000m2 of land, of which about 1,500 have been landscaped, including pond, large petanque area, and lawn for outside games. The terrace runs the length of the house (30m) and the barn offers an alternative terrace for chasing or avoiding the sun! The house is ideal for people who want to switch off from hectic professional lives for a week or more. Just bring a pile of books, a jigsaw, an easel and set of paints... And I've a reasonable selection of board games to bring the family together! The house has no TV and no internet (this is my home and I cherish switching off) but the mobile network functions, should you be a complete addict! Moreover, the small village bar (2km) has recently set up a wifi system. For those who want to be a little more active, the area around the house (no need to get in the car!) is ideal for cycling and walking - undulating and pretty, quiet roads and woods. I would be happy to provide cycling and walking plans to cater for different levels. The region is popular for fishing and river cruises. There are several 'étangs' (large ponds) close by the house, and fishing permits can be purchased in Cuisery tourist information, while boats can be hired from either Branges or La Truchère (both about 10 km drive). You can also canoe along the Seille from Cuisery campsite... The village of Chapelle Thècle (2.5km from my house) is small, but there is bakery, a small grocery and a bar with wifi. Slightly further away (about 9km) are i) Romenay - a small historic Bresse town, with the nearest Carrefour, restaurant and bars.. ii) Cuisery, famous for its ancient book shops, where you will find a supermarket and two quality restaurants, alongside an excellent bakery and more bars. The two closest 'towns' are about 18km away: Tournus is stunning in its historic grandeur (full market every Saturday morning); Louhans is a charming aracaded town (farmers' market every Monday, should you wish to buy a live Bresse chicken) For those wanting to explore further afield, you can drive to the Macon wine region in about 45 minutes, and I would be happy to recommend places for wine tasting and purchasing. The wine route from Tournus to Cluny makes for a really beautiful 45 minute drive, though it is worth stopping to explore the historic towns and churches en route. I am also about 45 minutes from Beaune, heart of Burgundy wine region for the real connaisseurs... Both Macon and Beaune areas make for interesting day trips This is my home, so I only let the property when I am not using it, and I will be the one greeting you with keys and clean linen! I have been renovating the house and garden for over 10 years, so I know the area very well, and am happy to provide information and 'top tips' to make your holiday / get-away-from-it-all break, whatever the time of year, a relaxing and enjoyable one. Please get in touch for more details regarding the house / the facilities / the region / the rates.

Peaceful and Wonderful Holiday House
My family had a wonderful stay in Jennifer's beautiful house, located in a peaceful setting. The surroundings are beautiful for taking walks and enjoying the rolling hills, the stars at night are gorgeous and bright and there are plenty of animals to admire. We even saw a barn owl hunting at dusk when we sat outside on the terrace.
The terrace was our favorite place to be - it ran the length of the house and was covered so we could even sit there when it rained. We loved spending relaxing time at the house but its location also allowed for some fabulous outings. There are very old castles and churches within a reasonable distance and even some fascinating caves.
Jennifer was a pleasure to communicate with and the house was equipped with everything necessary and then some! We enjoyed table tennis and the outdoor games she had stored in the house.
All in all, it was a wonderful holiday in a beautiful setting and we would even do it again!

Characterful barn conversion
A lovely rural location to get away from it all. Located in an untouristy part of Burgundy. The house is simply furnished but you have everything you need. Some low beams, so if you are tall, watch out. To the rear of the property is an open lawn which is great for games including a purpose built boule area. There is a veranda where you can sit out and eat.... especially sunny in the morning. No TV or internet which it good if you want to cut yourself off.
The area is quite flat, so really well suited to cycling. You can cycle for miles through countryside and small villages. Romenay is a small town with a supermarket which is 20 minutes away on a bike or 5 minutes in the car. There are two slightly larger towns, Tournus and Louhans within 20 minutes by car..... one to the east and one to the west of the property.
No TV or internet.... which is good if you want to cut yourself off !
The owner is a friendly English lady who has lived in the area for a number of years and can help you with any questions you have.

An escape from the city
Having missed out on a summer holiday, my partner and I decided to take an early Autumn break. We wanted to drive from the UK, and as wine buffs we wanted to be in the Burgundy or Beaujolais area. This house is not in the middle of the vineyards, but we were attracted by the rural location and promised tranquility, and we were able to make three visits to wine zones during our stay (Macon, Pouilly Fuissé; Lugny; Beaune). The house itself is impressive in size, has wonderful features (beams, stone walls, wood-framed brickwork, and has more than enough of everything in the open kitchen. The Bresse terrace is a wonderful traditional way of whiling away hours with a book or a game, and we were lucky enough to have plenty of warm days to sit out. This house is not for people looking for bright lights, wild nights out, or glamour...but as City people, it was just perfect for us. We both had an email free week, slept soundly - it is so quiet! - and I finally read some of the books I've bought over the last couple of years. As the owner says - it is a great place for winding down, and getting-away from it all.

Special family gathering
Lovely house which is very spacious and spotlessly clean, the owner met us on arrival and she made our family of 10 feel very welcome , the area itself was just how the owner described, perfect for walks around rural france, The garden itself is something else, huge with lots of wildlife including a family of 5 deers living at the bottom, my children thought they were on safari. The petanque court is also a plus.
Were booking again to see it in the summer and all looking forward to it.

Idyllic Country Retreat
We have just enjoyed another visit to this lovely property in the French countryside. Our first visit was in winter, but we did want to see what the cottage offered in summer. We weren’t disappointed as we were able to spend most of the time relaxing in the grounds of the property. The Petanque court provided us with hours of fun and the badminton and mini croquet kept us at the property longer than we intended. The house has plenty of space and after a hard day of playing games, what better way than to soak in the Jacuzzi? There is a nice walk to the Water Mill 10 minutes away and the nearest village La Chepelle-Thecle is about 20 minute walk, the bakery providing us with the classic French start to the mornings, croissants and pan au chocolat! There is also a bar in the village which we sampled more than once. A little further afield we visited both Cuisery and Tournus, both places worth a visit. These are where we stocked up on supplies as we were more than happy to spend time at the cottage. I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking to unwind for the week and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the French countryside, or playing family games long into the summer nights, just like we did. We will certainly be returning.
