A great way to "get away from it all" in Charleston. Relax and enjoy a 1064 square foot cottage with TWO Queen size beds in ONE 25' X 12' bedroom Beautifully furnished and always spotlessly clean, the cottage is a free-standing self-contained private accommodation in a beautiful Charleston garden setting​. E​njoy the well-furnished kitchen with marble countertops and ​the extra large living area with hardwood floors and ten foot ceilings where guests can share a meal and some quality time together.

Only four miles from ​Charleston's Historic District, the Cottage is​ also close to Middleton Gardens, Magnolia Gardens Drayton Hall, Charles Towne Landing​, McLeod Plantation​ and the Avondale Entertainment District,​ There are many places to ​enjoy ​close to the Cottage ​w​ithout the crowds or parking fees. ​T​ake in the gorgeous ​nearby view​s ​a​cross the Intracoastal waterway ​to Johns Island and James Island or the view to the east over the marshlands of Sandy Bay​. The ten mile long West Ashley Greenway is just two blocks to the north of the Cottage. It's great for walking and biking. All of these options are between 2 and 15 minutes away. There are several good restaurants that are walkable or less than a mile from the Cottage. Grab a pastry ​for breakfast from the bakery or have cocktails and a tasty meal​ just a block or two ​away by sidewalk.

​The hosts enjoy​ v​isiting with guests, but ​they also believe in giving people their space. ​Charlie and Rob are available during the day between 8AM and 7PM​.They are happy to assist you with local information or any special needs.​ Feel free to share ​their gorgeous Charleston garden​ anytime​. You can​ sit by the waterfall and meet ​their friendly fish and ​well-known local celebrity, Hoity Toity, the world's most passive aggressive Red​-Eared Slider. A glass of wine or a cup of coffee by the pond is a great way to unwind from a busy day of sight-seeing​. Enjoy quiet time relaxing with a good book under the shade of the pergola or enjoy​ing the smell of white ginger and gardenias from the hidden garden swing. ​The Cottage at DuPont is the place to be for your Charleston vacation.

Charlie Smith and Rob Suli re-envisioned, redesigned and rebuilt both the main house on the property as well as what became the Cottage at DuPont from 2016-2019. The core of the garden was also a part of this effort. Be sure to see the before and after photos in the laundry room.

Charlie is a City Planner by education and a retired Real Estate professional. He was born in South Carolina, spent the first half of his career in Miami Beach, Florida in the 1980s and returned to Charleston in 1996. Rob is a retired VA Benefits specialist from Patchogue, Long Island, in New York. He spent much of his career in Columbia, South Carolina.

Charleston's West Ashley area was actually the birthplace of the both the City of Charleston and the State of South Carolina. The DuPont community of West Ashley was one of the earliest populated areas on the West side of the Ashley River directly across from downtown.

The 10 mile long West Ashley Greenway was once the right of way for the Charleston and Savannah Railroad chartered in 1854. The Cottage is located one block south of the Greenway along what was once the southern end of the Kings Highway.

Downtown is just across the river, but if you want to visit Magnolia or Middleton Gardens, walk the greenway or just stare out across a gorgeous Intracoastal waterway view you can do that right here in West Ashley on your own schedule. All of these options are between 2 and 15 minutes away. Folly Beach is about 20 minutes away.

The Cottage at DuPont is the perfect place for a private Charleston get away, whether for a few nights or a few months. The owners always enjoy conversation with guests, but they also respect guest privacy.

Our guests can relax and enjoy a 1064 square foot home that sleeps four people with plenty of living area. The Cottage has an awesome kitchen and living area where friends can share a meal and some quality time together. There's also a drop-leaf table and wi-fi if you need to get some work done while you're here.

Sitting by the pond in the morning with a cup of coffee or enjoying a glass of wine there in the afternoon is a great way to relax. If you're lucky, our very shy red-eared slider, Hoity Toity, may grace you with her presence. If Rob and I are in the garden come join us.
