The views were amazing! We loved our time here. I really appreciate all the dishes so we didn’t need to hand wash dishes because there were many options (and instead just used the dish washer). The owners left notes to help us make the most of our time. I borrowed a book and did a jigsaw puzzle that they had. We were a family of 5, with kids ages 5, 8 and 10.

Construction and new appliances put in at our stay. Basement had a bad smell. Upstairs was nice. It was ok not happy with inconvenience of work while it was to be on vacation.

Cottage in the Dunes at Avon

We had a great stay at the Cottage on the Dunes in Avon! We especially enjoyed hanging out together in the spacious third floor room and decks with beautiful views surrounding us. Some of us could be cooking, while others made a puzzle, and others played a game, listening to music, talking and laughing together. We also enjoyed the extras like the hot tub and sauna! We were a group of seven adults and the house offered ample space to be together as well as places to be alone. We found Avon to be a nice combination of quiet nature: not-too-crowded beaches, kayaking, and fishing with museums, restaurants, shops, fresh seafood shops, and grocery stores also nearby. We appreciated being able to bring our dog along. The house was a bit rustic and in need of minor repairs but everything worked and we had a really good time!

Great location, house needs major TLC

The first floor is only accessible from the outside staircase & the converting game table is very small. We only ended up using the shower in the downstairs room.The bed in the first bedroom murdered my back (& I'm 29). The sheets were sanitized and washed, which was good, but they came out of the packaging feeling like paper towels. The comforters were just put in the bottoms of the closets. There was trash on the floor in the room with two twin beds (we didn't end up using this room, either). The carpet on the top floor was hard as a rock & my poor disabled dog ended up with carpet burns from being on it once. The AC went out upstairs and in multiple rooms downstairs about mid week. They were quick to bring window units for the upstairs, but the downstairs was still roasting for the rest of the week. The upstairs ceiling has... dirt or mold all at the top of it. The walkway to the beach was nice, but there is a massive dune you have to scale going there and back, which was very difficult with dogs and even carrying beach stuff. The area was super nice & the little neighborhood was relatively quiet. We will stay in this area in the future, just not in this house!

Disappointing

This property needs some care. The location is great. The boardwalk to the beach over the dune stops about halfway and the second half is uphill in sand which may be challenging for some. Carpet and furniture are very stained. I would bring a cookie sheet for baking and your own pans if you plan to cook and a knife as the blades were resulted and the pans had peeling Teflon. Remotes were missing, A/C was barely working and fan above stove did not work. Ceiling fans are not clean and dog hair stuck to sides of furniture. Upstairs floor is new and nice and washer/dryer did a nice job. We did not use the hot tub but the porches are nice! We would return to area but not this property. The rental company was also not great to work with as you do not know when you can get into the property and can’t use a credit card for payment without additional fee.
